Eat alot of pasta, drink red wine in moderation (Good for the blood), have some salads prepared as sides,and start lifting and working on your body

Get advanced swimming lessons so you don't have to dog-paddle, like a retard, through the pool.

Also weird, but a good suggestion is to go jogging with someone who understands competitive jogging. They'll critique your form and help improve it.
