The VZ58 looks like a good gun, should I get it? Tips, comments, complaints, etc?
>>32381634
I got one of the VZ2008s when they were $400 for a package deal. Traded it for an A1 build some vietnam vet put together. Slightly wish I could've just bought it outright so I'd still have the VZ
They're nice little rifles. Very light, despite a milled receiver. Very similar operation to an AK except with standard BHO, and a safety that doesn't go thump in the night.
Aftermarket leaves something to be desired. Duh. But honestly the only change I'd make is changing the slant muzzle break for a Czech one. Putting optics on properly is a bitch and have your choice of black or beaver barf furniture, but that's all your opinion as I thought irons were fine.
Basically, if you want a handy, light rifle that you won't change much and is a good conversation piece (as long as you don't get offended over people calling it an AK), Sure go ahead.
I love my vz. It was the first centerfire semiauto rifle I went and bought with my own money and eight years later I still prefer it to my AKs in the same caliber.
Get it. Basically a slav SKS with a pistol grip and higher capacity.
>>32381998
>Basically a slav SKS with a pistol grip and higher capacity.
this is just not true anon
They're okay, but just get an AK
VZ's are pretty much just AK's for white people.
>>32381634
It's suppose to be chambered in a smaller caliber but the Soviets wanted the round to be the same across the Soviet Union, so it shares the same bullets as the AK-47/AKM.
>>32382597
You are thinking of its predecessor, the vz 52/58. The vz 58 was designed from the start with the M43 cartridge in mind.
It's a very nice, handy rifle, it's fairly light as others mentioned, despite reciever being milled, just steer clear of the original folding stock and the bayonet is just garbage from what I hear. But the rifle itself in full stock is awesome, and there's always (some) aftermarket.
>>32381634
The vz58 is hands down the best rifle I've ever laid my hands on over the years, if I had to give up my whole collection minus one gun, the vz would be the keeper.
I can't speak too much for vz2008s, as I've only used one a little bit and don't actually own one. The fit/finish was certainly not up to par with the real vz, but it worked fine and was an absolute steal for 400 bucks.
---pros
>folder stock easily swings out after you push the button as you shoulder the rifle, extremely fast and easy transition
>100% reliable
>accurate
>fixed stock is the most comfortable military stock I've ever used
>much easier to clean than an ak(main areas), and only slightly tougher if you actually pull the bolt/dust cover area apart
>weight is good, weight on vz2008 is even better
>pretty compact rifle in both length and width
>BHO so you know when you are empty
>speedloaded very quickly with stripper clips
>much better safety(at least on vz58 where you push trigger finger forward to take it off and your finger lands right in the trigger area)
>about a 10/10 fit and finish on vz58, vz2008 is gritty feeling and not finished as well, but works fine
>trigger pull very smooth on czech vz
---cons
>fairly heavy trigger pull(even heavier on the vz2008)
>mag release is harder to get at than it could be
>I guess some people find the folder to be a bit uncomfortable(I think it feels great)
>commercial aftermarket parts cost a lot
>tougher to scope, but doable
>they should have used a two screw system to attach the stock to the gun(the stock can wobble over time if you don't loctite the screw a bit)
>>32383911
do you type this up every time or do you have it saved as a notepad file or something?
>>32384214
Definitely saved in a text file. I change it up a small bit based on the thread I'm posting in.
Due to the fact tham I'm Czechfag...
The Vz.58 is my love
(and literally my first firearm)
>>32381998
>slav SKS
There are non-slav SKS too?
>>32383911
Here is Czechfag's "ultimate guide"
>fairly heavy trigger pull(even heavier on the vz2008)
- see photo
>they should have used a two screw system to attach the stock to the gun(the stock can wobble over time if you don't loctite the screw a bit)
- put thin slice of rubber between the frame and the stock, use good quality bolt ideally for Allen key and loctite it.

Chink and German
>>32384298
Technically, there are Chinese ones
>>32381634
Great gun. I have over 2000 rounds through mine with stoppages only due to ammo (consistently low pressure with certain loads causing FTE and FTF sometimes but corrosive soviet works well)
Only complaint is that the carrier might not go fully into battery if there's even a tiny amount of sand between it and the receiver so be diligent and keep it clean if you're bushwhacking with it
>>32381634
No snowflake. special mags etc. get a nakm wait till this spring/summer it will be cheaper.
I would love to get a Vz. 58V in 7.62x45mm vz. 52.
>>32384358
>put thin slice of rubber between the frame and the stock
That's what I should do. Although some blue loctite seems to keep it tight for me.
Just a bit harder when I want to switch back and forth between stocks.
>>32384400
But why ?
>>32384450
7.62x45mm is better in ballistics. I will go look for better sources,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62%C3%9745mm
Cuckadian 18.5" barrel reporting in.
>>32384468
Well, it is pushing a 6-8gr heavier bullet a ~150fps faster than 762x39. Not exactly surprising.
Especially if you look at some 762x39 brands that barely can achieve 2000fps out of a 16in barrel with their 122-123gr bullet while other brands push 124gr bullets at 2360 avg fps from the same gun.

How to get one that isn't a sbr
>>32384249
How does it feel that yall are going to get a second amendment on your constitution? Also is registration a part of the process?
>>32384249
That blonde furniture is downright sexual.
i always thought vz2008 was subpar and actual vz58 impossible to get
plz tell me im wrong
>>32384923
>actual vz58 impossible to get
You just need to sign up for czechpoint's emails.
Then you'll know when batches come in.
Right now, you can buy one. I'd get the 1085 one on the top left if it were me. Then I'd order a folder stock with it so I had options. Handiest folder stock I've ever used, ideal for being a vehicle gun you can use quickly. But the fixed stock is more comfortable all around IMO.

>>32384974
neato. i had planned on getting one but when i was looking they were never in stock so i thought they were giving them all to canada or some bullshit.
>>32384992
Also, make sure and get some BXN stripper clips.
They're a lot easier to stuff my pockets with than mags. and I just think they're really fun to use.
Just open the BHO and you can completely reload a mag, or just top one off quickly whenever it's handy.
>>32384499
I like dat Kobra, anon. As a fellow syrup, where did you get it?
A huge advantage of this gun that is not commonly thought of is its integrated speed loader. I can jam three stripper clips in in not much longer than a standard reload. It could conceivably negate the need to carry a multiplicity of different ammunition magazines. Stripper of trace
Stripper of blanks for the rifle grenade
Stripper of armour piercing
That saves quite a bit of reloading time and magazine weight.

Of course registration is required for all firearms in categories A,B,C. It is also necessary permission for purchase for B category (Basically it is a formality that takes under 5min. at the relevant police department)
Already a similar formulation as 2nd amendment is part of our Constitution today. I will try to quote from memory...
>Citizens of the Czech Republic are entitled to armed resistance against the government which violates human rights and act against the interests of freedom...
Due to the efforts of EU, the approval and adoption of the current draft of the "Czech 2nd amendment" Would be fucking awesome
Lil' green monster coming through.
It's still the old photo, but I've switched the furniture with beaver barf and put a Claw Gear flash hider on it that also acts as the QD base for a B&T Rotex V Compact suppressor.
Well it would, but B&T and the german importer take for-fucking-ever to deliver.
>>32385030
Somebody said "stripper clips" ?
Man I have a hardon for the bolt carrier, but I'm not a fan of the stock. Are there any other options easily available on the market?
>>32385229
Congratulations Czech bro. It's good to see some freedom on the other side of the ocean
I have a vz2008 and I like it a lot. still waiting for the vz58 cqb to be available on czechpoint again

>>32385038
Not him, but once knew a retard in the US (a literal retard) who goes to local airsoft fields, sold a Kobra sight (usually worth $250) for a jar of .32 bb's (worth like 30 bucks) I saw the transaction take place and laughed all the way home. Fucking noims.
The ones with the 8 inch barrels turn me on a lot. I'd love to SBR one, I feel like it'd be amongst the greatest innawoods guns out there.
>>32385861
Holy kek, Czechs can into bolters too?

One day, I'm going to SBR one of those.

can you do Anon a favor and take a picture of your gas port with some decent lighting? possibly measure the diameter of the hole that is drilled into the barrel?
>a friend's VZ is beating itself a little too hard, he thinks it's his springs, but my suspicion is that his port is drilled for an 11" system, while his barrel is longer, causing overgas and the subsequent rifle masochism
what's the diameter of yours in mm?
>>32386601
>what's the diameter of yours in mm?
Lewd.
It appears to be 4 mm. I couldn't get the calipers in there, but I stuck a 3mm piece of metal in and estimated the free space.
>>32381634
>not saving shekels for superior rifle
>>32386601
Wait, fuck.
I misread your post. I only "measured" the pictured gas port. I don't know if it's the same size in the barrel and there's no way to measure it at my disposal.
>>32386729
thanks anon! seems to confirm what I read online, (3.5 or 4mm) I will get him to check his.
if you have a standard American drill bit set, you could try to see which one is the largest size that can go through (using the non-drill side if you are worried about damage to the port, it would make sense that the bit would be the same diameter all the way though)
could be an easier way to estimate maybe. but either way, thanks for the effort and provocative gas port photos ;)
>>32386762
oh, maybe the method I suggested here >>32386862 would work?
yeah the size of the port itself would be larger than the gas hole and it wouldn't matter as much, since the amount of gasses would depend on the actual barrel port
>>32385339
ironwood designs makes them. I've always heard them recommended for good wood furniture but I haven't got mine yet and they are over a week late without saying anything. He said 2/3 weeks 4.5 weeks ago. What sold me on them tho is I realized a couple sexy wood stocked guns I've seen pics of a bunch of times are from their website.
Also wtf czechpoint
Beginning January 1, 2017, new retail price is $1,145.00
>>32386862
No problem m8.
Sadly I don't have a drill set of any kind (or a drill for that matter) in my apartement, but the barrel port seems to be in the 3,5-4 mm range.
>>32386990
nice, that makes sense, thanks again
>>32386601
>a friend's VZ is beating itself a little too hard
Switch to golden tiger. I used bear ammo and it beat the hell out of the gun.
Golden tiger ejects very nice and soft. It drops the casing just in front of the gun.
>>32381634
I've got one of the black CSA VZ.58s.
>>32381721
Well, I was pleasantly surprised to see someone not say "It sucks dick, Soviet piston guns are horribly unreliable, just buy an AR" or "omg VZ58, best gun evar, everything the AK is and moar".
