7 years ago I got my first real ("battle ready") sword. A Hanwei Raptor Katana, still love it, but it's my only true sword.
I finally caved and ordered a European sword from Valiant Armoury, the Special Edition Rhinelander. It's an Oakeshott type XIIa, with a T4 pommel and type 12 guard. I ordered it with a blue handle and belt with a gray sheath.
What sword's do you own/want?
pic related, it's the Rhinelander from their product page.

What's the stats like on it?
>>32379173
That is a nice scabbard,. Do they offer a belt and/or hangar for it?
>>32379191
35" ish blade
47" ish over all
around 2lb 13oz
and a balance point around 5 inches I am guessing.
They do not have solid specs, like Albions, since they are hand forged. Luckily a bit cheaper than Albion as well.

Yeah the belt comes with it. That's really the major selling point of Valiant, the leather work is spectacular. Their blades aren't anything special, but the hilt and sheath is very solid.
Another pic off the site, when I actually get mine (8-12 weeks), I'll be sure to show pics, I think the blue on gray will look great.

What's the medieval sword enthusiasts version of the fedora? Because it's perched tightly on you're head. And what's wrong with cheap beater swords I use mine for landscaping

>I use mine for landscaping
I immediately retract what I said. That's awesome.
Well, anons, a, b, or c?

I'd personally go for A, since I like shorter blade lengths.

We have a serious armadillo problem in Alabama and swords do come in handy, I got this cheap functional reproduction of a Chinese, Han dynasty dao and it works great for spearing them.
>>32379644
I personally prefer longswords and I have looked at the Crecy before, but out of my budgets
>>32379492
I have no problem with beater swords, but I also like higher end swords for the feel they have in hand. I have a Cold Steel Cutlass Machete that I use often for yard work and camping, and I am looking at some of the Condor swords for use as beaters for around $100.
>>32379492
Oh and the medieval fedora is a braided beard.
>>32379834
Condor and aranyik are also good. Aranyik makes them out of 5160 spring steel. I got some leaf springs from the scrapyard and I'm trying to think of a heavy chopping design to make at the forge

Damn your right. Skall does make me cringe when he does comedy
>>32379925
Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about him now a days. I really did not like that video he put up a few days ago about the DarkSword, he really made it seem like shit, completely based on the fact that it had a bad edge (which soooo many sword do at that price) and because it made noises after his abuse. Although it did persuade me to not settle on the DSA Longford, and instead look at Valiant.
Medieval Review actually suggested Valiant to me.
>>32379854
Meh. I like him, but he's for window shopping, not funnies. I find his reviews to be helpful. He's also an actual HEMA fighter, so he knows his shit.
>>32380129
Yeah he is knowledgeable for sure, but just like new, I like to get opinions from multiple sources.
Oh and random picture. A Valiant Monarch, the one that inspired the color scheme for my Rhinelander

That blue is sexy.

>>32379806
I keep wanting to get a Crecy but when I get that kind of toy money together I buy a gun.
>>32379173
I own a barrel sword
>>32380236
I have a Valiant sword. It's quite nice, Sonny does excellent work
>>32379715
Why are you using a fat chopping sword to stab armadillos instead of some thinner European thrusters?
>>32381012
As do I. I bought a Enfield Bayonet at an auction this summer. I would include a pic, but I'm at my GF's house, and don't have any pics of it.
