can someone please tell me what the point of an AR -15 pistol is?
>cant legally shoulder it
>cant legally put a vertical grip on it
>cant use iron sights on it
>>32371245
They look cool
>>32371245
I keep one full retard in my vehicle.
Have another one cuz I can.
>>32371245
Well in Canada, their purpose is to provide us with legal 10 rnd mags for ARs.
>>32371245
poor man's Uzi ?
>>32371245
big middle finger to the ATF
>SBR without it being a SBR because it's not a "rifle"
>>32371268
This.
It's essentially the same purpose as anything you have past your fighting rifle and your defensive pistol. "cause it's fun."
>>32371268
They look retarded with that buffer tube sticking out.
People think it's cool. People have different opinions.
>>32371287
like op's
>>32371374
It's not on there
the OP one looks cool because it doesnt have anything sticking out the back. It looks like a bolter.
Only one I want is the Olympic Arms OA-93
>>32371476
No RAA LAR-PD?
>>32371245
>caring about legality
I bet you drive under the speed limit too
>>32371503
>under the speed limit
That's illegal
>>32371245
It's to hold you over until your cuck stamp comes in
>>32371492
Yeah that would be cool too. I'd rather have the Olympic Arms though and pretend I'm Willem Dafoe, with a long schlong.
>>32371245
>It's not illegal to shoulder the buffer tube
>vertical grips aren't illegal
>why the fuck not?
>>32371245
we need more stuff like the AR pistol to bully the ATF into repealing the NFA
>Legally
Everyone who owns an AR pistol only owns it so that when shit hits the fan, they can slap a stock on it and have an SBR
Question
Why do people buy sig braces for their pistols? You still can't shoulder it legally, so I'll assume if someone has a brace they will shoulder it secretly. I just don't see the point if they will follow the law, then no need to get a brace just to kiss more ass.
>>32371663
Who's going to know if you shoulder it or not?
>>32371245
In Pennsylvania, I cannot have a loaded long gun in my vehicle ever for any reason. With a LTCF, however, I can CC a pistol or have it loaded in my vehicle.
>Because love exists
>>32371644
This.
Also I like not having to notify the ATF anytime I want to take my pistol out of state. Also being able to sell it at anytime. Also being able to hide it in East reach in my car because I love in a state where you can't have a rifle/shotgun condition one within easy reach. Plus I can CC one of need be.
And the biggest thing is that I don't have to pay $200 extra plus 9 months wait time for a fucking AR with a <16" barrel.
>>32371245
Bet
>>32371675
No one; but while it was established by the atf that you can't shoulder it, you would think it's suspicious that people started to slap "arm braces" on their "pistol" but don't need the actual use of the brace.
>>32371730
No shit. But there's nothing they can do about it.
Is there a law saying you can't shoulder it, or is there a law saying you can't put a stock on it? The former is entirely unenforcable. Even if you shoulder the buffer tube and kill a guy in an HD scenario, that dead man ain't telling any tales.
>I shot from the hip officer!
>Seems legit to me! No need to call in the CSI guys to check trajectories or nuffin, he was just doing his civic duty.
>>32371245
>can someone please tell me what the point of an AR -15 pistol is?
Because fuck the ATF.
>9mm AR pistol
>pmag
>>32371743
It doesn't matter even it you do shoulder it. The buffer tube isn't a stock, period.
Can an AR pistol fire rifle rounds legally, or are they designed to use pustool calibers only?
>>32371789
Yeah, but it's still something to butt your shoulder against. It still provides added stability even if awkwardly. Plus, >>32371612 has some kind of stock thing on it. What is that anyway? I'm unfamiliar.
>tfw everyone thinks califags are cucks
I see people shooting with normal capacity mags and without bullet buttons all the damn time. Literally saw a guy shooting an sbrd ar that was probably a .45 or a 9mm today. We just know how to keep shit on the down low. I think its gotten to the point where most CA gun owners stopped carrying about most gun laws except carrying without a permit and making machine guns
>>32371792
it's only called a pistol because that's what it's called legally
it can fire anything a regular AR can fire
>>32371730
>Can't legally shoulder it
As if anyone is ever going to be prosecuted for shouldering their pistol.
Pictured is my "Pistol" with a stabilizer that works great as a stock. Call the ATF igaf.
>>32371812
>making machine guns
the only reason I haven't made my AR full-retard capable is because of the immense ATF buttrape I'd get if anyone knew
Who makes this bag? I'd love one of these for a couple rifles and my scattergun / extra barrel.
>>32371816
Sounds like the ATF is on the outs. They can't party van all of us.
BRB, sawing down my barrel and removing my stock.
>>32371807
It's a "cheek rest." I forget who makes it. Looks way better than those retarded arm braces.
>>32371792
>Can an AR pistol fire rifle rounds legally
Yes.
Though it might fuck the availability of imported steel core/tipped ammo for the caliber.
>>32371812
>I see people shooting with normal capacity mags and without bullet buttons all the damn time.
Because they registered their rifles as assault weapons.
>>32371839
Naw, the ATF isn't that over reaching!
>>32371848
You're so law-abiding, you even believe that everyone abides by the law same as you. Adorabubble.
>>32371245
to annoy the shit out of the guy next to you at the range
>>32371864
I accept your concession.
>>32371819
Does anyone have the ATF [autistic screeching] pic?
>>32371835
I don't think it's legal to make a pistol from an existing rifle. Sort of like how a shotgun with a short barrel and pistol grip from the factory is an AOW but if it came from the factory with a stock it's considered a short barreled shotgun.
you can shoulder them if you have a buffer tube. only people who put the dumb arm brace cant shoulder theirs
they are basically an SBR without the paperwork of one, thats why they are popular. if you wanted to start an intelligent thread, you would have asked what the point of an AK pistol is. since AK pistols have no buffer tube to shoulder
>>32371885
Here you go my dude
>>32371900
Yeah, I know. My post was more about the ATF being BTFO. The second part was because I fantasize about black helicopters over my house and not hearing my dog alert me when SWAT guys surround my property.
>>32372045
Aw yiss. Thank you
>>32371403
Yeah because it's a piston upper you stupid fuck
>>32371245
I'm kind of surprised no one has made an AR lower with an extended magwell to function as a loophole VFG. Maybe I should get on that.
>>32372266
being a piston upper doesn't remove the buffer tube from an AR
>>32372268
Well, if you extend the magwell, it would become harder to insert mags, and compatibility issues with different kinds of mags will arise.
>>32372285
Then you remove the buffer tube because you no longer need it.
>>32372286
I mean, just have it have a huge hollow space inside so it doesn't affect clearance when changing mags. The point isn't actually to have a huge magwell, it's to have a VFG that's attached to the magwell so you can say "no officer, that's just part of the design." I can see a couple ways to design one that wouldn't even interfere with those dinky little flush mount mags.
>>32372322
or you can have an AFG, or a Tac-Sac
>>32371245
But you can pretend you're a space marine
>>32372378
>tfw no bufferless piston AR pistol in .50 Beowulf
>>32371612
vertical grips on pistols are illegal unless the OAL is 26'' or greater
While we're on the subject, I'm getting a 300blk pistol with an 8.5" barrel for shits and giggles. Can't get a suppressor so I'll be running supersonic ammo anyway. It's purely a range toy. Planning to run 168gr SMK's with H110.
>>32371245
>can someone please tell me what the point of an AR -15 pistol is?
because pic related or AR pistol is the go to seconary for a guy with an AR as his primary in SHTF. Pistols are peace time weapons.

>>32372482

>>32371245
Where is the buffer tube?
>>32371245
it's a compromise weapon
>5.56, concealable, reliable
but
>doesn't get the full ballistic potential of the round
>doesn't have the ergonomic benefits of a stock
it's still a fuckload of firepower in a compact package, in a briefcase or a car it's the bad dream of anyone who would fuck with you
when they think "what is the worst thing he could have in his bag", you are looking at the answer
>>32371663
So they don't get buttfucked by the ATF if for some reason they find it.
If for some reason they find our you have an AR """pistol""" with a sig brace or something similar they can't do anything about it. If you make an SBR by putting a real stock on it you get raped legally. Even though I'm sure literally nobody has even done it and I certainly wouldn't, you could shoulder the former and get away with it if you keep your trap shut, but if you're caught with the latter there's no plausible deniability.
anyone know of a good piston that takes 9mm?
>>32371270
the only full retard in your pic is the light/front site set up
>>32371663
Also there are factory "braced" pistols that are ATF approved and sold over the counter, furthering the legitimacy of the brace.
>>32373454
I would also like to know
The AR pistol format is a simple luxury for home defense, and vehicle carry. Upon SBRing it's just awesome to shoulder it. It's +1 over a pistol for high profile situations. It's a great short range PDW for direct action avoidance role fit.
>>32371245
>cant use iron sights on it
probably dumb question, but does this mean
can't use iron sights because of legality?
or can't use them accurately?
>>32371245

>>32371245
>>32371245
So wait, explain to a newfag how that works? I thought ARs needed a buffer tube?
I want a fucking bolter lookalike,
>>32379914
Not a lawyer but iirc it's the "functional" part of the weapon that has to be 26" OAL. The buffer tube is a "functional' part of the AR, a buffer tube on an AK is not.
YMMV
>>32371838
Yeah i have an ar pistol and I'm going to get one of those to make it more reasonable.
>>32372268
>>32379883
But when it goes back....?
>>32381084
Has to be a non removeable part. So you are correct unless you weld the buffer tube to the receiver
>dat sweet sweet 26.25" oal
Can you ccw an AR pistol? I'm guessing yes, but damn, it just seems weird.
>>32381305
Yes but like everything, it depends on your local laws.
In my state its legal to conceal carry a rifle with your CCW if you can figure out how to hide it.
>>32377422
what gun is this? it looks fucking ridiculous and amazing at the same time
>>32381232
you know the flashider doesnt count for oal right?
that things technically illegal since its 25.something with no flashider
thats why the franklin armory xo26 the thing most of these "firearms" ar based off had an 11.5 since a 10.5 is too short to make 26
>>32381394
Unless the flashhider is permanent welding makes it so

Overall length is measured from the stocks fully extended position from the tip of the barrel to the other end of the firearm on the same axis.
Take the muzzle device off while measuring since it is not welded.

>>32384305
Pic related.
>>32384307
Would be fun to drop in a Fostech Echo trigger in one.
So do AR pistols have any real functionality besides being range toys? Would they be any good as a HD or truck gun? Been thinking about building one in 300 blackout. Also, how many people opt for building a pistol over a SBR for the sole purpose of not ending up on an ATF list?
>>32386163
>So do AR pistols have any real functionality besides being range toys?
Does the mk18 have any real functionality besides being a range toy?
Depends on the ammo you use. m193 will fragment out to ~30 yards out of a 10.5" barrel. m855 at like 10 yards.
There are rounds designed to work out of short barrels though they are more per round than these two.
>Would they be any good as a HD or truck gun?
An ar pistol with a aimpoint, a light, and a can would be my dream HD gun just hoping for the hearing protection act so I can finish that last part.
Other than being loud as fuck they seem perfectly suitable as either a truck gun or hd gun.

>>32386698
Also id say half of new shooters will load a mag into the holder then wonder why the gun isnt firing.
>>32371245
Nobody makes a .223 Revolver and if they did its inherently a piece of shit. Maybe fallout has the right idea but it would take alot of engineering to be worthwhile.
Its more portable than a rifle and it fires a stout caliber, even with a short barrel 5.56 hits harder than a 5.7 meme.
> As a kid growing up I thought that Rifles were determined based on the kind of Ammo they shot rather than the silly atf guidelines.
> you know like 5.56mm and .308 are RIFLE calibers so anything that shoots them is a Rifle
> maybe it would have been more effective to have designated it based on the designed Muzzle Energy of the cartridge, and provide selected exceptions such as .44 magnum. Because then you could have carbines and sbrs in pistol calibers that were slick but they're not reflecting the range and firepower of a rifle.
>>32371644
this too
also thats why you make sure you've got the stuff to make a suppressor and you know how to do it, but you dont do it until wrol.
