Not funny looks, but there was an older couple at the range once, and when I fired it the older fella asked me "what da ya got there, a six pounder?"

Can be well suited for some handgun hunting, it has no gap like a revolver so you get some extra juice, they have extremely fine inherent accuracy, and recoil is very soft, the .44 is like shooting a 1911, so for some sport and target shooting they can be extremely fun.

Reliability can be a concern, but this isn't a fighting weapon.
It will want hot ammo, so you can't go shooting no cheap shit MagTech (it's too filthy anyway), the best way to enjoy a Deagle is with handloading, hot loads with FMJ or JHP bullets, never shoot unjacketed.

The gun also needs to be cleaned often, as it is gas operated, I would advise a basic cleaning after every range trip.

Other things are handling, it's easy to limpwrist if you're not used to it, and teacup grips are known to make the magazines misbehave.

You could use it for OH NO A BURR defense, but I think it's a bit too finicky to use in life and death scenarios like that.
