OK, people say 7.62x39 is gonna run out in the future because Russia no longer uses it as their standard caliber.

How true is this?

Very true. AK fags BTFO. No ammo, gun is worthless. No just swapping an upper for you!
>>
Any one know how different the 7.62 reciver is from the 5.45?
>>
>>32362281
Pretty sure it's identical save for a different mag well
>>
Well, time to start an ammo company that produces 7.62 and become rich as fuck. Capitalism baby.
>>
Hardly. As long as they keep issuing AKMs with suppressors, the Russians will keep producing it. It would be like thinking that .308 is going to dry up because the west don't use battle rifles anymore. Besides, Russia aren't the only ones that make 7.62x39.
>>
>>32362419

But NATO uses 7.62 NATO in everything from LMGs/GPMGs to DMRs and snipers.
>>
>>32362235
7.62 is made domestically at least, 7.62x39 is still in service with the russian army/special forces.

Yeah but the days of infinite 7.62x39 spam cans are over. the czechs send all their stockpiles to Syria as aid a few years back. the milsurp shit is drying up.

All produce 7.62x39 for commercial use. That's just off the top of my head, I guarantee there are more.

Just because you can't pick up god-tier M67 for $.05/rd anymore doesn't mean nobody is making the round anymore. It's one of the most widespread calibers on the planet, and the service rifles of a fuckload of nations use it. Demand is massive, and as long as that's true it's not going away.
>>
I've seen IS photos from Palmyra where they captured a ton of crates with 7.62x39 steel core ball made in Russia in 2015 and 2016. So they are still producing it both commercially and military.
>>
>>32362306
7.62 receiver also has a shorter ejector, as in the distance it protrudes from the rail is less than that of the 5.45 receiver.

Russia has been using the 74 series rifles and 103 rifles, with the addition of the 12 series Russia hasnt used 7.62,39 variants in mass since like the early 80s. Yet 7.62 is everywhere, because the Russians know that AKMs are fucking everywhere and there be money to be made to sell amoo. Considering the AKM is the single largest mass produced rifle in the world, and if they reopened Norinco imports again they'd probably be everywhere in America too, I strongly doubt amoo is going anywhere.
>>
>>32362536
This, OP ignores the basic facts of economics. If people want it, someone will make it.

Seriously, think about all the useless meme calibers that only a few people use, ammo is still manufactured for those guns. 7.62x39 is too widespread for companies to up and stop production. Yes, milsurp will run out eventually, but new production will always go on.
>>
>>32362235
Russian people still use 7.62x39, so do countries they sell too and supply.
>>
>>32363047
is that one of those cheapo mounts from amazon? how does it work
>>
>>32362235
The AKM was mass-produced in the millions. They aren't just going to stop making the juice to their most popular product.
>>
>>32363307

This. The Russians still use it themselves as well as exporting it worldwide.
>>
Am I the only one that prefers 7.62x39 over 5.45? I find it more enjoyable to shoot and it's basically .30-30 in an assault rifle. I have an AR already also, would love an AK104 clone.

Seeing that we haven't been able to get our hands on surplus 7.62x39 in the US since the 1990s and the supply of it hasn't diminished, I'd say this isn't an issue.
>>
>>32362235
Everyone should buy a case of ammo for their x39 consumer and hold it in reserve and never open it until THE happening. When that day comes, you'll know.
>>
I just bought an 1895 mauser, pretty sweet

Shockingly well. I just needed it for deer hunting, nothing I'd have on permanently. It's supposed to return to zero taking on and off but I've only had it for a couple days so I haven't tried that. But it does work fairly well so far.

It's true goys.. I mean guys. x39 is going to run out soon.

I happen to have some premium steel case for sale at $500 USD per case.

>OK, people say 7.62x51 is gonna run out in the future because NATO no longer uses it as their standard caliber.

>OK, people say .45-70 is gonna run out in the future because US no longer uses it as their standard caliber.

SURPLUS may run out, but the cartridge will still be made as long as there are guns chambered for it. and with a hundred million AKs alone, rifles built to weather multiple apocalypses, it'll be around for a very long time.
>>
>>32363576
8mm mau mau a best
>>
>>32365491
Surplus 7.62x39mm hasn't even been allowed to be imported into the US for like 2 decades, but apparently retards can't comprehend that.
>>
>>32362235
False.
1) Russian forced still use it in limited quantities.
2) Finns still use and manufacture their own 7.62x39 ammo.
3) Tons of civilian manufacturers.

With that logic, .303 British and 8mm Mauser should´ve "dried out" ages ago, and not be available at all anymore.
>>
>>32365521
Only M43 and similar steel core was banned. Yugo M67 is still imported.
>>
>>32362536
Also whats up with 7.62 boat tail bullets? Those are standard aren't they? M67 isn't boat tail but can't other manufacturers make the same molds and produce better FMJs?
>>
>>32365521
What is Red Army Standard for $100
>>
>>32367168
Red Army Standard is a Century owned importer of commercial ammo from ex-eastern bloc countries except Russia, it's not surplus.
>>
i dont think you appreciate just how much of that shit was churned out
>>
>>32363418
>having to pay over $1k just for a functional rifle
AKfags are some retarded ass fucks.
>>
>>32362235
Russia no longer uses it as the standard caliber for 40 years senpai
>>
>>32366903
Basically there's more than one way to skin a cat. Boat tail bullets act more-or-less the same as M67 (stable flight, yaw like a motherfucker in soft tissue) but achieve it through different means.
>>
>>32363283
Correction. After tightening and zeroing I took off the mount and reattached it seeing if held the same point of aim. It did not. In addition, a little metal pin that was holding the screw to keep the mount right stripped out when firing, resulting in the scope canting upwards as I shot. This group is at 100 yards, the scope was not near the center, and moved upwards each round. Not too happy with this.
