Turn it into a ASW/Minehunting platform
>>32352869
Make them less ugly

Trashman.
>>32352874
These things are too loud to be effective at ASW
>>32352920
You can be loud, if you are fast. And damn they are fast.
Didn't they recently cut 2/3 of the orders?
>>32353087
For the LCS, they are putting the cut into the new frigate, mostly

Well austal is slowly working out their problems with LCS. It's their first full fledged navy ship class they have built so I cut them a little slack. Emphases on a little. I count them as experimental boats that probably wont be used except for maybe some pirate hunting (at least that's what I hear from the guys building them).
The new frigates are just going to be navy versions of the coast guard cutters. So they will probably be good ships. If we can't find a use for them we will just sell them all like we did with our last frigates.

at a minor loss of mere billions to the US taxpayers.
>>32353215
Wut.
>>32353109
New frigate as in Freedom-class with proper armament, or do they develop something separate?

Start holding Pentagon officials accountable? No more gifts from manufacturers? No more job offers from manufacturers.
I really think Trump is on to something when he says no more lobbying for 5 years after you leave gubmint and a permanent ban on lobbying for other countries.

As in a armed freedom class
>>32353215
Most of that cost went into R&D, so it's not like it's a total lose if the knowledge is used again in the future.
