Dunno if it saved my life but I was out in the woods in the middle of the night and a bunch of drunk dindus were whoopin an hollerin. They must have seen my jeep because they started screaming in my direction. I couldn't understand most of it but I could make out "come out" and "faggot" being repeated a few times. I ignored them and a couple minutes later they hop in their vehicles and I see headlights coming in my direction. I fired my rifle once into the ground and the vehicles stopped. After a couple seconds they did a u-turn.

I doubt they ever saw me since it was pitch black and I wasn't near my vehicle but they certainly wanted to come over and cause trouble.

I was feeling suicidal and went to a gun store, ended up having a half hour chat about 1911s with the owner.

Crossing 5th and Jackson on a rainy night waiting for the light to change
A car sped through a red light and splashed a muddy puddle right into my eyes, disorienting me. Trying to wipe my vision clear, I lost track of where I was and waded into the street. Suddenly, the low, shrill wail of a truck horn came in the distance; regaining my vision just in time to see it's fog lights and assess it was too close to me to get out of the way. Suddenly, like a divine intervention, and outside force from God pushed me out of the way. I landed in the median to catch eyes with my carry piece staring me dead in the eyes in the middle of that lane as the truck blew through the intersection.
I'll never forget his sacrifice.

same thing here. I think it's the adrenaline of shooting in combination with actually having control of something in my life for once. I've built my rifle. It can take life, it can save life, at the end of the day when I'm behind that trigger, I'm the one in control, and that feeling lets me know everything is going to be ok.
