Yeah, there should be a pull string around your belly button, pull it and tie it off. Not only does it give you a better fit and keep you warmer, it also outlines your physique (assuming you have an attractive one, broad shoulders, narrow waist ect.)

Yeah I tried one on in the surplus store and it was a solid coat. I wish I had the money for it, even if it looks goofy as fuck it was warm and very well made.

Own one, works really well in Montanas mountains desu. It won't be the most insulating so wear a good sweater or sweatshirt under it if it will be anything other than "chilly". Also the pockets are not identical on either side; they were obviously made to store very Swiss specific gear. Work well enough though. Can fit a grouse in the back pocket.

Size down.
I'm 6'2" and #210, usually wear large. Medium M65 fits me perfectly, with room to layer.
Unless you plan on going into Arctic temps and need space for like 5 layers beneath it, size down.

Easy: never add the insignias or wear it buttoned all the way to the top; if it's that cold, wear a scarf (looks really sharp with german blouse), or it's too cold for the blouse.

Btw, can german wool tunics be tailored? It's a really complicated garment, and I don't know if it can be slimmed down without having to cut it down and add a central seam in the back...which would look shitty.

It's a Canadian Naval Parka (it says in the original file name) PGL. It's kinda baggy on me but its good for -20 to 12*C
