Hi guys
I recently applied for my pistol permit. I don't plan on carrying, I just like shooting pop cans off stumps on my buddy's land
I know exactly what I'm getting into. I know they jam and fail-to-feed like crazy. I don't get scared when I have to clear said jams I just like "cheap gun" aesthetics and the price point of these cheap pistols.
My question is though: what are the best of the Saturday Night Special guns? what are the worst of the worst?

the real problem is having them explode
>>32337351
First of all get an actual gun, if someone is 10 feet away from you and you get a click your circulatory system going to get intimate with your colon contents from a shiv or another gun.
Saturday night specials are a fun thing to dick around with but if you got your carry permit you probably expect to use it, even in a remote possibility. Spend a little more for a used LC9 or something similar if you like pocket pistol aesthetic
If you want worst of worst it'll probably be the Rohm
>>32337756
are the Raven .25s better than the Jennings .25s or the Phoenix .25s?
are Ravens still relatively easy to get?
I'm thinking of either a .22 or a .25 preferably, though .380 isn't off limits to my considerations
>>32337760
does this happen? i've heard of the usual day-to-day failures, but nothing that catastrophic, in my limited research
On the topic of cheap pistols I'll ask this here. I want a cheap .22 plinking pistol, whats a good one? The ones like the Ruger MK3 feel like a Jewing because its more for the pistol than a fucking 10/22 and several mags. Budget is maybe $250 or so?
ps thanks for the replies, guys

my county makes you register for CCW by default, if they decline you for CCW they then either give you On Premises privileges or flat out decline you
if I actually planed on carrying I'd get a Ruger 380, so I agree with you there
>>32337814
Heritage .22 revolver. Most of the single action cheap revolvers are decent. Or the Phoenix .22 if you want a semi.
>>32337814
The Walther P22 is an often recommended choice.
>>32337351
That picture should be titled, "I sell guns to lowlifes on the black market."
I mean seriously, wtf.
>>32337351
Hi Point series.
Pistols are ugly as fuck, but they have to because they are blowback.
>>32340817
I'm not sure Hi Points are considered Saturday Night Specials. They're like a tier slightly above them in quality. Plus they're too big to qualify.
Beretta 950 Jetfires can be had for around $100, decent little .25 pistol if you don't mind the crude sights. 8+1 rounds capacity and not a bad shooter.

>be OP
>might have to use CCW some time in his life
>might as well use obrez
Pros
>accurate (5 yards tops lel)
>concealable: in a jacket or in cargo pants or some shit
>literally just point and shoot
>if you miss, attacker is blind and also deaf from muzzle flash and booming cannon sound lel
Cons
>cannot hit broad side of a barn hip firing this
>broken wrist(s)
>reload time
Conclusion
>use obrez, b/c if u miss the nog attacking u, hes blind and deaf then u just shoot him again
>>32340817
>>32340840
they are still made of Zamak (Zamac? forgot how that was spelled) though, which is mentioned in the op title

My buddy's dad was a cop and had a Jennings/Raven/Lorcin/whatever that he had taken off some Black guy he had busted and one 4th of July, he was drunk and shooting it off in the backyard (into the lawn, mind you) when the slide flew off and hit him in the face.
He tossed the pistol in the trash and got another beer....
>>32337748
Is that a Rohm RG-38?
>>32337351
dat extendo raven in the middle of the pic
>>32341463
I was just looking at that and trying to guesstimate how many .25ACP can fit in there given that the Raven is a 5+1
I'm guesstimating 20?
>>32341291
Oh I see.
anyone ever try any of Cobra's derringers
I was wondering if they're just as QUALITY as their regular merchandise
>>32341486
I think 15, not sure though. I wish there was a drum for .25acp
>>32337351
Sounds like you're trying to summon Wumbo.
buy a Pheonix .22
don't buy a Rohm/RG under any circumstances (except to assassinate Reagan)
>>32341527
they work
thats about it
I've got one in 9mm
>shell extractor was so garbage I took it off- made it hard to chamber rounds and had too little torque to even eject casings
>used a hard arkansas sharpening stone to turn the trigger from 90lbs to about ~8
>impossible to fix the fact that the trigger goes "down" instead of back
>>32337814
Ruger Mk4 is fantastic, so is the buckmark and the S&W.
If a centerfire is in your future just get that instead
.22lr conversion for a Glock, Sig, 1911 or CZ from tacsol, Sig, kimber respectively
>>32337351
I'd suggest a Ruger LCP II over any of those. I pocket carry a Sig P290rs 9mm tho
>>32341322
thats the element of danger that makes them sporting
>>32337760
>worrying about a .25 acp/.32 acp/ .22 lr kaboom
You wear eyepro, right?
The worst those little zinc bastards can muster is beaning you on the chin with the slide in a fit of impotent rage
Anyone ever got their hands a on a patriot .45?
It's a stripped down glawk clone made out of garbage metal so it can only digest standard velocity .45. They don't even make a 9mm version, the 9mm patriot is another boring kel tec derivative.
I've heard some surprisingly good reviews of it. . . .and some unsurprisingly bad reviews as well.
Personally, I just have a morbid curiosity in any gun that attempts to strip down a design to it's bare minimum.
Also because it looks like you'd buy it out a vending machine in the post-cyberpocalypse
>>32337814
Phoenix Arms HP22A. I have one. Fucking love it
>>32342305
Do 1911 mags work in this? I think I read about a cobra years ago in an article on "beer budget guns". Don't know if it was the same model, I think the verdict was decent, but crappy.
>>32342305
After some reading, it turns out cobra really never has had an original idea. The patriot is just the newest version of an old pattern
You may remember him as kel tec sibling intratec's CAT-9/45/.380/.40 and earlier as the hebrew-made Sardius/Sirkis SD9
>>32342395
>>32342305
Pretty sure these were only made for like a year
>>32342395
well if you think about it Raven is Jennings is Bryco is Jiminez, with Cobra being the equivalent of a cousin for the sake of this analogy
>>32342428
Yeah, I'm well aware of the ring of fire story.
Hence the "never has had an original idea"
On that topic, does anyone know what's considered the "best" of the sons of the raven .25?
I've always thought lorcins were nice looking. I dig the spacy trigger guard and overall robocopish uglyness
Hate phoenixes though, mostly because of that doofy ventilated rib
>>32342490
I've heard the JA25, but I don't own one so take my opinion at face value
>>32342570
>JA25,
I always forget about Jimenez for some reason, probably the mexicany name.
I remembered sundance before them for crissake.
gotta love that font though, definitely the most aesthetic rollmark of the ring of fires
>>32342601
oops
>tfw you´ll never be american and able to buy shitty joke guns just for fun
>>32337351
>What are the best
I bought an older Jennings model expecting it to be a shit, and was pleasantly surprised.
The Jennings model T380-CA isn't quite as bad as most of them. It's built a lot bigger and thicker--to look at it you'd think it was a single stack 9mm. You couldn't pocket carry it. It's decently accurate and only rarely fails to feed. Pretty rugged too.
Good luck finding one, though.
My 22lr collection.
