So I have an assignment for a course where I need to research and analyze movies filmed from 1950-1990 depicting life in the communist nations. They have to be filmed in the soviet countries and cannot have bias. Ive spent forever searching and have found a couple like The Cranes are Flying and Ballod of a Soldier (this one was recommended by the instructor). Does anyone know any good unbiased movies i could use? If so, which ones?
To keep this /k/ related, what was your favorite soviet rifle?
Bump for help with more /k/

Mission to Moscow is the only film I am aware of that shows this but it is blatant pro-Stalin propaganda so just be aware of that. You could talk about the film and discuss how it was deliberately designed to make Stalin look good because it was produced during WW2 and the government wanted Americans to see the Soviets as allies during that time. When the war ended, the film became a black mark on the career of everybody involved.
>They have to be filmed in the soviet countries and cannot have bias.
Huh, that disqualifies this entire post. Should have read that sooner. However, I don't feel like deleting what I wrote.
The stalker film seems like a good bet.

>They have to be filmed in the soviet countries and cannot have bias.
Oxymoron

Doesn't it disqualify the assignment?
Not that I'm a slav movie buff or anything, but I can't imagine there would be many that aren't propaganda that would be easy to find.
>They have to be filmed in the soviet countries and cannot have bias.
Good luck with that.

Come and See, 1985, depicts partisans during WWII.

get you some Stalker
Its super out there with long shots of nothing happening and as far as depicting real life in a communist nation it doesn't really do that. But it was produced by one and it really shows. Most of the actors died of cancer after filming because of the industrial waste they didn't know was all over the forest they were in.

>They have to be filmed in the soviet countries and cannot have bias
Not possible considering all movies that were made went through a political censor. Whoever assigned you this was a moron.
Other wise try "The Hot Snow"

I honestly feel like I will warn everyone i meet to avoid her like the plague. I emailed my instructor and she said i can use something censored but cannot be biased and must depict life in the soviet countries including the satellite states.

Ask her why she calls Soviet films unbiased. they aren't biased from an American perspective, but from a Russian or Soviet perspective.
By definition they aren't unbiased. I think she may be trying to indoctrinate your peers.

Im probably going to try to use the yuri bezmenov interviews and transcripts for my projects. For those wondering, the name of the video is Yuri Bezmenov: Deception Was My Job (Complete). I emailed her asking if its acceptable because it was technically recorded in the US but its from a russians perspective

Your professor is a sack of shit and a hack. There may be only 1 non-bias film ever, but good luck finding it
