Could this be used as a solution for long term firearms storage? For example, include silica gel to absorb all the humidity, then vacuum seal it and bury it underground. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work.

hang it from hangers within your drycleaning

I would rather leave it vacuum packed and coated in grease

I don't even think it even needs to be coated in grease. You can have a secret firearms ready to go by just opening the vacuum bag. It doesn't take more room than needed so it could be buried right beneath the surface
You need to use those mbb bags. The kind that electronics come in. They're called moisture barrier bags or some shit.
Should still be partially disassembled and packed in oil.

Light layer in the bag and you're set.
Just in case
Just smack some cosmoline on it and you'll never have a problem

Are you the kind of retard who leaves your guns in the shower bare to let them rust?
Somebody with experience here... Yes, silica gel is the best option here, or you can buy packs of them online (What I did). Also the best method I've come across is using mylar bags over the vacuum bags with oxygen absorption packs in them, so basically double bagged. I do this because typical vacuum bags tend to come open after a few years, the double bag with mylar has yet to fail for me (7+ years) and I've stored lots of ammo this way.

>tfw i have a vacuum packed revolver taped behind my toilet because I feel vulnerable in the shower
water vapor can still penetrate the the plastic, not aluminized mylar though.

Yeah. It should work. You'll just need an exterior bag or something to prevent pinholes. Sand bags would be the cheapest thing you could use.
You just would need a foolproof way of getting it back. I don't suggest an ice scrapper.
But why would you hide it to begin with? Right wing death squads haven't started yet.
