I was looking to buy my first handgun to go with my AR15. A coworker/acquaintance of mine is offering to sell me his Kimber tactical custom II for $800. It's been flawless for him so far, but I'm still leery of it since it's Kimber shit. I was looking at other .45 pistols and I really like the USP 45. I kind of like the USP 45 tactical model, so if that's a better buy, I have no problem saving up a bit more.
But, I also really like 1911s. I hope to own a high end custom 1911 one day, and why not get started with something that's (supposedly) pretty good? I've shot the Kimber before and I liked the trigger and accuracy of the thing. Felt like a fine mechanical machine. But it's still a fucking Kimber and their shitty quality.
Thoughts?

Kimber USED to be good. Do your research with its serial number.
As for the USP 45, this is a very good thread on the USP 45.

There's some LE guys in it that have a fuckload of experience with the USP 45 and you can sometimes find them at a good price for ~$500 used.
Don't forget about the HK45 too.

I actually traded a cheap para ordnance 1911 for a usp .45. It was ok, I didn't really see why everyone is so moist for them, but I didn't fall in love. It felt like more of a "hey, look at this gun" gun for me, it's iconic but I didn't care too much for it. Needless to say, I traded it off and eventually got another 1911, which I love.
USP 45 + AR15 is a match made in heaven, friend.
The USP to me feels like an improved 1911 in many respects. The USP takes a hit on ergonomics, but it's lighter, has a better capacity, and I feel that it's probably more reliable than most 1911s.

Kimber is still good, Los Angeles Swat gives their officers the Kimber TLE. And they train with them everyday.

HK USP belongs with HK rifles
Personally I think an AR-15 pairs well with

> Beretta 92/M9
> Sig P226

Fuck no, this is anonymous yo.
Plus wouldn't be right attributing a name to info pics or pictures of guns that aren't mine. I just lurk and read a lot while at work.

I'm guessing somewhere in the south. In my state the general rule is that if it has a blade you can carry it.
