Long story short, I work at a gun store and at times get good discounts on guns. My boss is saying he can sell me a brand new m&p bodyguard .380 for $200. Should I consider a .380 for concealed carry or just stick to 9mm/.40/.45?
>>
Better ammo choices for 9mm and better bullet. Sounds comfy tho
>>
I don't like the way .380 recoils. It's uncomfortably snappy, even in a Beretta 86.

It's worse than 9mm in terms of power, without saving much size or weight, but it's not so bad as to be unusable. If it were my money, I'd get a Glock 43.

Although, that price is hard to pass on.
>>
>>32332350
never seen that before, how does it compare to an LCP? looks bigger
>>
>works in a gun store
>asks /k/ for advice
>>
>>32332350

Bodyguard 380 is probably my most carried pistol by a LONG WAY. For 200, it's excellent.
>>
>>32332370
thats usually a product of the gun platform. 380s tend to be straight blowback, which means more felt recoil
>>
>>32332370
Which is literally the only reason I'm considering it. I usually carry a 9 or 45 but getting 50% off a new gun I could use just to keep in my car or as a back up would be nice. i just wanted to see if anyone else has experience carrying a .380 acp.
>>
>>32332350
Sounds like a good deal. Check out underwood 380 ammo, they sell those fancy copper Lehigh bullets.
>>
>>32332350
Can you immediately sell it for more than you paid for it?
>>
>>32332391
Fair enough, and reading up on the Bodyguard reviews it appears that's not an issue with it because it's not blowback.
>>
>>32332381
I know a .380 is basically a short 9mm I just don't have much experience with the round. I only have a Walther ppk chambered for it and I rarely shoot it. I strongly prefer 9mm or .45 but I just can't bear to pass up the price.
>>
>>32332406
Not unless he's an FFL holder or acting as an agent of the store he works at. Buying guns with the intent to sell for a profit is a no-go for private citizens.
>>
>>32332415
See >>32332406
IF yes, buy. Try it and keep if you like it or sell if you don't.
>>
>>32332422
Sell privately and noone is the wiser.
>>
>>32332430
I was obviously talking about what he could legally do.
>>
I remember reading somewhere that blowback .380s are almost always more accurate than 9mms with equal barrel lengths.

A lot of people say fixed barrel blowback is inherently more accurate, and more reliable, than recoil operation. Might just be hearsay.
>>
>>32332422
I live in Texas. Selling it would be no issue. In fact I could possibly sell it to a cop friend with ease.
>>
>>32332350
I live in Phoenix and carry a P238 most of the time because it's fucking hot and that little pistol disappears under a shirt.

The way I see it, if I was caught off guard and needed a gun, it would work fine. Unloading 7 rounds of hot 95grn lead into someone's chest and face does wonders if you want to be left alone.

If I knew I was headed for some trouble or heading to a shitty part of the city, I'd bring a pistol in .40 or .45. with a much larger magazine.

The biggest debate I found regarding the caliber is whether or not to use FMJ or expanding projectiles due to it's lack of penetration when not using FMJ's.
>>
>>32332439
I understand that but unless he spills spaghetti and outright blabs about how he got it on the cheap just to resell for a profit noone will even raise an eyebrow let alone go legal on his ass.
>>
>>32332451
Selling it privateis fine. But if you buy a gun with the sole intention of selling it, legally you have to have an FFL.

I'm not saying he shouldn't, it's highly unlikely he'll be caught, just trying to be factual.
>>
>>32332457
You're an idiot.

If you understand that I'm speaking legally, why even comment on it? I shouldn't have to explain that I'm not saying things I didn't say.

Moron.
>>
>>32332350
Damnit, 200$ is fucking cheap.

Get the deal, OP. I mean, I got the Bodyguard and I love it for daily carry because you dont even notice that you're carrying.

And even if you dont like the gun, you can sell it for much more than that. I guess they are about 350 at Cabela's for example.
>>
>>32332439
Private sales are legal in many states.
>>
>>32332464
Anon, you are the idiot here. I don't even know why you brought legality to this thread in the first place. He can legally buy it and then sell it as any other private property sold by any other citizen. You're acting like I suggested he resell it inside his employer's shop.
>>
>>32332453
I usually carry a glock 23 or a Springfield xdm but it would be nice to have a small back up just in case. Plus the price is just to nice to pass up.
>>
>>32332350
I really want to get a bodyguard for deep concealment or for just having in my pocket around the house.

Some things I like about the bodyguard in particular.
>can get a galloway precision trigger kit that smoothens and shortens the length of the trigger's travel
>fiber optics are available for them

But apparently they use or used to use MIM barrels. Like fuck, an MIM extractor, okay but the actual barrel is MIM? Fucks sake.
>>
>>32332453
i think FMJ is best
>>
>>32332488
Jesus Christ, learn to read.

Private sales are legal. HOWEVER, buying a gun with the SOLE INTENTION of selling it again (operating a gun store, for example) requires an FFL.

Cunt's sake, nigger. Learn to fucking read.

>>32332489
No, he really can't. If that was the case, what would purpose would an FFL serve? I outlined a specific scenario that would make a sale illegal. Arrest or prosecution for it? Infinitesimally small chance, but still illegal.

Also, a dick move to the owner of the store.
>>
>>32332476
Sounds about right. It's usually around $399 at my store which is why in so stoked about this deal. Plus it's new with two magazines so thats cool
>>
>>32332441
I can anecdotally tell you that my CZ 82 (fixed 4" barrel, blowback, 9x18) is generally more accurate than a lot of my other guns, even longer ones, with moving barrels. I'm inclined to believe the hearsay.
>>
>>32332517
>Private sales are legal. HOWEVER, buying a gun with the SOLE INTENTION of selling it again (operating a gun store, for example) requires an FFL.
Nobody fucking cares. If Lord Jesus the Saviour showed himself down on the face of the Earth, he couldn't PROVE that anon bought it with the intention of immediately flipping it for a profit.

You took a non-issue, turned it into a problem and are now sperging about it.

Judge: Anon, why did you resell for a profit
Anon: Bought it cause cheap, didn't like it, sold it at reasonable market value with no intention of profiting
Judge: OK, you're free to go

Get it now, spaghettilord?
>>
>>32332572
This. People sell used guns they find out they don't like all the goddamn time.

Might as well start panicking because you pirated porn and sped 3 miles more than the speed limit.

Just bought one for my wife. She has decided she wants to start CC at work. She is not very experienced with firearms so I figured a .380 would be easier for her to handle than a 9mm or .45 but still provide her protection. Paid 349.99 plus tax. Its still in the box awaiting her birthday. Only thing I will say about it is inless you have baby hands dont expect more than a 2 finger grip even with the grip extender.
>>
Buy two.
>>
>>32332707
y-you do that too?
>>
$200 isn't even that great of a deal on those.
>>
>>32332560
Mechanically speaking it's true given fixed barrels are inherently more accurate than one of equal quality that's loosey goosey.

But in actual practice it doesn't make any noticeable difference.
>>
>>32332350
I'm not a fan of that one. It has the usual stiff ass S&W controls and a tiny grip so it feels like it has more recoil than it should. The laser versions sell better but $200 new is a good deal. Flip it if you shoot a magazine through it and hate it.
>>
>>32333618
lcp 2 or p238 are the only 380 guns worth having.
>>
>>32333537
>40% discount isn't that great a deal

Long story short your mom takes it in the ass.
>>
>>32332350
I'd get it just for price, if you don't like it resell for buying price or more. It's on sale at Cabellas for 299.99 today. You could buy flip easy.
>>
>>32333655
Off of what, MSRP? Nah my dude.
>>
>>32333645
the Colt Mustang is pretty close to the P238 and Bersas are fun. Walther also has a PK380 that's the same size as a 9mm because Europe exists still
>>
>>32332397
>just to keep in my car or as a back up would be nice
Exactly. Sounds like a a great truck gun at a truck gun price, but with slightly higher quality (not partial to S&W but their shit is solid)
