Its old but the MS2000 has a IR cap, that when removed will be a visible white strobe, otherwise look on TNVC they should say what strobes are IR/VIS and IR only
I was looking at getting a Helstar 6 but i cant justify the cost when the 2000 works just fine

>>32330630
Unless your plan is to sit in line at the VA for back pains, I'd avoid those packs.
unless we're talking about some New bong PLCE pack that I never heard of They tend to be made for webbing and the waist belt doesn't distribute the weight to your hips, and sits high up the back.

Should I go with OD Green or multicam for PNW? These are the two most popular patterns that would work well for me. Other patterns work better but gear in those patterns is hard to come by and expensive. OD green would probably be cheaper but no pattern to it while multicam actually has a pattern to break up my outline but has some colors that don't work great here

No, it has literally all of the capabilities of the 152 but sadly no crypto, but I hear if you're radio savvy it's possibly to download the KY-57 program and run it. Way more freqs, power, and modes than a baofeng.

Maybe I need to make more signal/commo friends and hook me up I guess.

Back to the civilian 152. How's it stack up in comparison to other civilian shit or the 148? I've never used 152 in the field.
>>
>>32331355

Dude do what I do. All my important shit I throw in a plastic bag in storage. Also I wouldn't recommend securing it that way if you want accurate bearing/direction.

Throw it on a molle strap or your non-firing hand. Personally I put it on my non-firing hand.

The UI is 10x better than the 148. It's a good radio, does a lot more borderline illegal things than the baofeng, is compatible with the Harris/Thales aftermarket, assuming you can get your hands on the right kit, saps power like a motherfucker, and is just as heavy as the real thing.
>>
>>32331604
I can dig that.

Any suggestion to buy with it, software wise? Since I'm not special and can't get hook up from my signal buddies.

CADPAT and digiflora. I don't mind buying gear in either of those but as far as clothing is concerned you can really only get cadpat issue gear and I don't want to be an autist in canadian ACUs. Mean russkis have digiflora clothing aplenty but its expensive to ship here

Looking for a 2x2 rifle/pistol mag pouch. Hopefully it comes with malice or similar attachment system, multiscam is a must.

Already aware of the First Spear, Grey Ghost Gear, AWS, and Condor offerings.

I did the whole putting all the important shit in a plastic bag/stuffsacks, then I had a bunch of bags full of what I thought of as "important" at the time and a weried sorting system I drunkenly thought was great Idea at the time.
I just ended up putting the Garmin on the shoulder strap of the PC because it's out in the open where I can see it and grab it, before I go out hunting or camping.

Longback doesn't work well with belt order, but that's why everyone who has to carry any amount of kit gets themselves a shortback bergan.

Mine sits neatly on my belt order and spreads the weight well. No back issues here. I'll take some photos when I get home if needed.

Though the new ones with vented backs are dope.
>>
>>32333809

To reply to that, if you're not wearing belt kit, then the longbacks work very well on their own.

Should have put that all in one post...

Varan camo gorka is made by a small factory in Ukraine, they don't have a website but my friend was able to order me one. Gorka was about $160.

Hat is Varusteleka's M/05 boonie. $26.

Gloves are Camelbak Impact CT, they're hard to find but anywhere from $15 to $40.

Webbing is Sputnik-Gear's Gen 4 Selous kit, the buttpack and GP version, which is about $160 plus ~$30 evil shipping costs from magical land of Ukrayina.

Boots are surplus Gore-tex military/police Belleville, don't know the model, got em for $40.

So I'm throwing together a car emergency/range day belt to celebrate getting to goal weight (what use is emergency training and gear when you're too fat to use it?)

The pack is easy, but I'm eyeing a battle belt setup. Current plan is:

-rigger or duty belt
-battle belt
-mag holders for 4 .308 20 rounders
-pistol holster
-1 pistol mag holder
-first aid pouch
-Water

The rest of the gear (warmth, food, water purification) goes into the backpack.

My question is this: Do I really need USGI or SOE gear level stuff? What other manufacturers make decent stuff that doesn't eat my ammo budget for a month? Is voodoo tactical ok?

So is multicam the best pattern for the majority of America?

I'm trying to think of what the best pattern is for my area. I live around the Ozark region, it can get pretty dry and brown in Fall and winter, or sometimes even during particularly bad summers, while it can be green as all get out in the spring and in wet summers.

Would it be worth it to get more than one type of camo gear for concealment, or just go with the same pattern, such as multicam or OCP, all year round? With Coyote or OD gear otherwise I guess.

What are your opinion on helmets?

I'm looking at pic related maybe, they're supposed to be very good helmets, light (for a helmet, they're like 2.9lbs) but still III-A protecting.

They don't cover as much as like an PASGT or ACH type would because the ears are exposed, but from I've seen the trend it towards smaller lighter armor, at least with plate cariers and other body armor, that just covers the essentials and cuts the weight elsewhere.

Like the change from the armor vests that would be like III-A all over the body then have rifle plates on the front, back and sides, with an armored crotch protector and shoulder attachments, to nowadays I see most people with nothing more than front and back plates on their body.

Is there anything a "tactical" winter jacket actually does better than a civilian winter jacket other than coming in camo? Seems like it's be cheaper to just get a good civilian winter jacket and wear one of those light camo covers over it, on top of that you could use the jacket everywhere without looking like an autist.

Just seems like "tactical" is a code word for "more expensive" when it comes to stuff like jackets.

And yes, any pouch with 3 mags will be blocky. That's why 3-mag pouches are a bad idea. Get in a firefight and you will be fighting your gear for balance and rolling around on the ground like the blueberry kid from the Willy Wonka movie.

>Not everyone here is a try hard wannabe operator. I just like gear and collect it because it's fun.

composite armor but they have soft armor too
and they needed the soft armor to provide level III protection to stop ak rounds

but the ones they had in Mogadishu only had a hard plate in the front.

> did big army ever get these ranger body armors?

yes some units used them in limited numbers. you can even see pictures of people in iraq in the 2000s wearing them.

>all these kits with no radio

Some of you guys really need to brush up on your philosophy when you're building your load outs. Having gear and weapons is great for shtf but it's all meaningless if you don't have a "gang" of like minded men to operate and maintain the perimeter. Your "wolf pack" is going to need a way to communicate with each other meaning everyone is going to need a radio. Baofengs are the cheapest way to go about this and you can buy 4 of them for around 100$.

Also read "The Way of Men" by John Donovan. Every gear queer needs to read that book so it gives them perspective on the importance of building a team and becoming good at "being a man" when society claspes.
