Fucking fascinating how some of it is tech from five decades ago, some late soviet and a small amount of cutting edge stuff.

Lots and lots of chemical/biological weapons. Maybe some T-90s (they got a few examples from Russia).
As for fixed wing aircraft what you see is what they have. It would be hard to train on SU-30s without broadcasting it to the world. However I do believe they have a lot more choppers (old ones like MI-2s) than they lead on to believe.

These are extremely useful in mountainous terrain to drop off hunter killer teams.

I doubt they have much hidden.

Their military is aware of how badly a war against any of their neighboring countries would go and has an extremely strong interest in keeping out of an actual conflict. If they had anything 'that advanced' they would have it on the parade grounds to try and deter military action against them.

It depends on what units you are talking about.
Most will fight at first. These aren't Arabs. All they know is the state...much like Japan in 1940s. It will be a mess. Yes many will surrender. But many will fight.

>>32329291
Apparently as of 2013 they were still using the fucking Zis-2, as they got some ammo from Cuba. I wonder what role they have for it?

A field gun is a field gun, even if it can no longer handle up to date tanks. Plus I bet it would rape anything up to an IFV.

Yup basically just there to slow down encroaching units until the army can get there. A gun like that will take at ROK APCs easily and pin down any infantry units in KW1 Scorpions.

Candy crush on cell phones. That is the folly of the first world. All this extra shit. Not saying our system is bad. Just too decadent

not just vanilla and chocolate ice cream
>sixteen flavors!

not just a regular tv
>high definition tv!

Ad infinitum. That's my only problem with the first world

I think they keep them around for parades. Like honor guard for tank units. Knowing the DPRK however I bet a few thousand rounds of 85mm ammo are sitting in a warehouse just in case.

The uniforms are too large. The malnourishment is visible. Or in their case, they probably insisted on oversized uniforms for machismo and to carry all those "medals".

Those billions of bling bling medals are so retarded. The russians could actually back it up with competence and firepower, but the Norks are just pathetic.

How about we play a guessing game on what all those medals mean?

>Tractor master: Managed to ride a tractor for 100 meters

The dogs likely receive better nourishment from their food than the poor bastards holding their leashes. Not one of them looks strong enough to actually hold the dog back if it decides to run off.

Probably have to post extra guards at the dog food shack and bribe them with one or two sacks of dog food. Still better than loosing even more dog food to "accidental spills" and "spoilt food", a.k.a. massive smuggling.

It's fucking heavy to try to keep your gun up on target. Like insane. For an emaciated Norkie, these things are like a normal Amerikanski lifting a PKM for the first time. They'd fire for five seconds and then have to take a breather and set the gun down.

Let us look at this large Russian man, cradling his OTS Groza. Look how he loves the suppressor and softly holds the back. Now look at the fuckers >>32331810 here, and also at >>32329742 here. They aren't holding it, it's just strapped up so they won't tire out from having it in hand all day. Also, it's just an excuse not to give them magazine vests or more magazines. They're trying to be economical, by making this shit. It's obscene.

Why do people always forget one simple truth when analyzing NK military? They spend 364 days every year trying to save fuel drop by drop so they can have a big parade for the glorious leader of the people. They couldn't win a fight against chuck-e-cheese.
>>
>>32332512
Drum mags themselves are unreliable in some cases. I've got no personal experience with helical magazines, but apparently the Calico helicals were pretty shit here, lots of stoppages and failures to feed and such. Also- imagine for a second the weight. A 4 kilo rifle per usual. But a fucking 4 kilo magazine all up on the front end. Pretty much 8-10 kilos out in front of you, all day, running around with it like a headless chicken. NYET.

They mount MANPADS on their tanks too. They legit think that they can have their tanks self-defend against air power if they staple enough bargain basement AA onto everything that moves.

Norks still remember the US bombing campaigns that reduced what cities they had to rubble and char, and as a result are crazy about trying to give everything AA capabilities.

Elite North Korean soldiers are being armed with “nuclear backpacks”, a source has claimed as tensions increase over the authoritarian state’s attempts at military escalation.

An anonymous source told Radio Free Asia special units have been formed since March to carry the weapons and had been taking part in simulated training exercises with dummy bombs.

“Outstanding soldiers were selected from each reconnaissance platoon and light infantry brigade to form the nuclear backpack unit the size of a battalion,” the source from North Hamgyong province was quoted as saying.

The supposed weapons were said to weigh between 10 and 30 kilograms and be able to “spray radioactive material”, possibly uranium, on the enemy.

I replied before even reaching that, but yeah, Jesus Christ. It's interesting how the guy demonstrating is wearing absolutely no equipment. Let me see them use their Taekwando for CQB with a rifle slung over the shoulders, a plate carrier and pouches on their torso, and a holstered sidearm. Oh wait, they probably can't even equip a good portion of their soldiers with any of that.

It's incredible. Every time I think that I've seen and heard enough about North Korea and that it's no longer an interesting subject to me, I discover something that re-ignites my curiosity. The entire fuckin' country seems to revolve around the military.

What do average citizens actually do? If there's no private businesses, are their gyms for them to go to? Cafes for them to eat and drink at? What do they do for recreation? What do their libraries consist of? Their movie theaters? What exactly is the military protecting? They're so isolated that any insight we gain into the daily lives of the populace is already heavily cherry-picked and edited.

Both funny and depressing at the same time, them flying through the windows like something out of Big Trouble in Little China. They would be slaughtered.

On the other hand, it always made me wonder: Do they coach these people on how to speak before the camera?

When you watch Nork shit, you can always count on their cadence going from a low rabble rabble, then their voice raises, then as they're about to finish the sentence there's always some weird verbal flourish about "defeating the traitor ghouls who slither like malformed sea urchins" followed by a shout with a clenched fist. Always with the clenched fist.

Go back and watch any propaganda shit they've ever done, you will see them do this.

The North Korean military isn't about offensive war, but oppressing a population and maintaining a hereditary kingdom.

What's funny is they actually could be a threat, if only they jettisoned 80% of their forces, used the savings to rebuild infrastructure and an economy, then in 20 years, modernize. Their current zerg-rush mentality wouldn't survive them very long in the era of drones, thermal optics, and precision-guided munitions.

Even the chinks are starting to scale down and get small and high-tech.

Hundreds of types with different sizes, toppings, and condiments. That land was America! America, Harold! America! Now this is about achieving what our parents set out for. This is about the pursuit of happiness. This night . . . is about the American Dream! Dude, we can stay here, get arrested, and end our hopes of ever going to White Castle. >>32336750

Obviously it's not a permanent barrier. A war in the peninsula (the most militarized and war-ready border in the world) will be decided within days if not hours so even barriers will add precious time for either side.
>>
>>32336777
The explosives are probably decomposed anyways.
>>
>>32336777
Until you realize what happens to budget concrete when you set off a bomb under it. Modern tanks would barely even slow down to clear the small bits of rubble in the road.
>>
>>32336750

I don't know, for a modest one-time investment, they do kind of make sense with the mountainous terrain of much of Korea as a cost effective way to slow down an enemy advance a little.

They still should have used the concrete to improve useful infrastructure, however.

Here a North Korean soldier can be seen tenderizing a goat in hopes that it will be tender enough to eat with his few remaining teeth. Assuming that he's allowed to eat any of it.

to be fair it kinda makes sense to focus on close combat training if you don't have enough ammunition for rifle training.

Fucking why?
I get training in basic hand to hand, but most of that shit was just silly.
A bunch of half-naked men screaming and inflicting pain on one another. I was getting some Gachi vibes.

Not only that but they can ambush you while you clear that shit

How hard would it be to take out north Korea without nukes?
They are small and out dated, but they are very, very entrenched
