Weird.

The reason the trigger pull felt so heavy was because the body didn't have any external stimuli for pulling the trigger. It's the same reason running in a dream feels like wading through jello.

The mind doesn't really have a frame of reference for flying which is why you can appear to fly fast and travel great distances. In the case of running your feet impact on the ground which the body doesn't sense while in a dream.

I used to have dreams like this for almost my whole life where I was fighting but felt like I was throwing punches into quick sand. When I was in my early 20s I started training martial arts more seriously and about 3 years afterward I had my first dream where, even though I didn't feel the feedback on punches, they had an effect on my dream opponent. They anxiety of the fights also went away so that now the few times I do have fighting dreams they feel more like sparring dreams...
