have used all of these, several different models, overseas and home, at one time they were pretty even, more of a personal choice rather than which was best. now though eotec has gone way down hill over the last 5 yrs,and the fact they covered up a major flaw(that we all knew about cause we were using the fucking things)that put military personnel in danger i wouldnt have anything to do with them no matter how good the product. now a days i use a meprolite m21 reflex, works great, been around for a long time, cost around the same as the entry models of the others.

Only thing that annoys me about the eotech is it leaks that gas over time causing fogging and there is no way to prevent this.

Aimpoint is a over priced red dot hyped up by people who hate American companies. This is why I go with Trijicon and Nightforce.
>>
>>32322038
so the aimpoint pro
other than it's battery life and size, is it the most value for the price in aimpoint's line up?
>>
>>32322089
Nightforce makes red dots?
>>
>>32321776
Same here.

I can still shoot fine with basic RDS though, the dot becomes a football but it doesn't make a huge difference at RDS ranges. Eotechs are completely unusable though.
>>
If I wanted a red dot I'd buy from india
>>
>>32321776
>>32322435
Well fuck i might have astigmatism. Every red dot ive looked through is mostly a circle but theyve all got a little tail. I figured my glasses were just messing it up

does this mean im inelligible for eye surgery now? Would my optometrist tell me or mark it on my prescription? Fuck i hate people who can just see normal
>>
>>32321355

enjoy your 12" winter time moa shift
>>
>>32321891
Literally go look on their website you dunce.
>>
>>32322457
It's usually marked on your prescription, the astigmatism number will be "CYL."

It's usually not an issue for eye surgery unless it's really severe. Mine is bad enough to make some kinds of surgery impossible but not others, and also to make contacts impractical (I could get them but they have to be custom made hard glass contacts that are uncomfortable and only fit in one orientation), but that's pretty uncommon.
>>
>>32321985
Eotech window is bigger
so it is more ergonomic
>>
Either. The XPS fixed the old Eotech battery issues.

Eotech's are better for speed, but unless you're rich or in the military an Aimpoint is going to last longer with basically the same performance.

M8 they are owned by L3 and they aren't going out of business any time soon

much faster, easier target acquisition, improved night ops capabilities
>>
>>32323726
You don't have to line up two posts, all you have to do is shoulder, aim the reticle wherever and fire.

And then you have a wider range of view than many iron sight set ups, easier to use at night, and they're just all around easier to use than most iron sights.

Aimpoint.
Literally bomb proof reliability, amazing battery life (5 years), multitude of options to choose from - Entry level all the way up to IR capability military issue type stuff.
For those of you who spout such nonsense as "wider view" - Do you even both eyes open? This is how you're supposed to use red dots.

Holy fuck you kids are retarded.
Spec Ops wouldn't use EOtech if they were anything but the best on (or off) the market
Fucking poorfags trying to justify their aimpoint garbage because they can't figure out hoe to use EOtechs. I get it, it has more than 1 button on it, that just makes you retarded not the design.
L3 communications literally did nothing wrong. The issues reported were widely overblown and did not affect functionality.
>Aimpoint shills BTFO

>>32320735

I had Eotech for years and while I never had delamination problems, my zero would wonder in the Las Vegas heat. My problems went away with Aimpoint. But anecdotal experiences aside, you can find a brand new Aimpoint pro with mount on Amazon for $400. That's 3 years of always on, brick shit house durability 2 moa dot that simply cannot be beat for the price.

for once hunter isn't the BIGGEST faggot in existence, specops would more likely use ELCAN in my opinion, they survive feed tray covers, if they can survive the feed tray on a MG, they can survive anywhere. that or they use other high end optics depending on their needs, magnification, or lack of. I know an operator who started using the mk17 to put hajjis down in fewer hits, he got a kill at 600 with iron sights.

I was in the same boat 6 months ago. Aimpoint is much better than eotech. With the Aimpoint pro that I got I can leave it on for 3 years without changing the battery. On a go to gun for home defense the red dot should be on, you might not have time to turn on the eotech. If you are rich you can get the Aimpoint comp m4 that has an 8 year battery life. I would post a pic but im working at the fun shop and can't figure out how to upload a picture on my phone.

>>
>>32328378
Yea and herein lies my problem. My bedside gun in my glock 21SF with tac light and night sights, that's if I don't have anough notice to grab the DDM4 V9 LW with ACOG and tac light I have leaned in the corner.

This is a new M4gery that I may outfit with KAC railz at a later date for dat dere SOPMOD look but I may keep it basic, already threw the stolen valor BUIS on there and zeroed it cause I don't have a carry handle. It needs a sight or carry handle cause just a back up iron looks gay and makes no sense.

I'm thinking the aimpoint pro would look good but so would the eotech 512. If this gets used it would be with notice so the leaving the sight on is not a huge selling point though the battery life is definitely a bonus I think the larger reticle would be better suited for this build of a light weight loaner rifle for operating operationally at the range or if SHTF.

Do the new 512/518s have issues or just the old ones?
