Anyone know of abandoned mines in the south west region of the U.S.?
First time I ever went shooting was near some old abandoned mine in Southern California.
Seems to me places like that are always secluded enough to shoot at.
The nor/k/al group camped and shot up at an abandoned mine/ghost town earlier this year.

>Go shooting in an unmaintenaned, gassy mine
>Muzzle flash causes and ignition and blows the whole thing up.
What could possibly go wrong?
>>32313118
Got an archive of it?
DON'T LET MY THREAD DIE REEEEEEEEEE
>>32313041
It's a bad idea dude.
>going unnaground
You made the right choice, son.
I dig, I die, I dig again
Any for Ky/Tn border?
>>32313558
Depends on the type of mine. There are a lot in my area that still have excellent ventilation.
unnaground thread?
>>32313704
You're making sure to stock up, right? The unnaground is dark and full of terrors
>>32313041
Not since the Dire Badgers.
>>32313795
>he can't clear out his own unnaground kingdom from some stupid dirt bears with a semi auto .308
>>32313704
this has inspired me.
i think im going to make a unnaground hide out in the woods. ill report on /k/ when it happens.
>>32313968
Just don't forget the creed.
>>32313041
Nope. You don't know what is inside there. Some kids could have gone in exploring just before you arrived.
It's just a really bad idea to shoot when you don't know where your rounds are going or what they might damage.
My wife and i explore a lot of abandoned mines. I always have a few guns to shoot while we are out.
inside the mine

that your FJ? its sexy
I wasn't to worried about other people out here. Camped down in the bottom for three days. Never saw another person, great place to camp, shoot, and explore mines.
>>32315252
Thanks, it has been a really good vehicle.
>>32313041
>going in that thing
Fuck that.
>>32314586
>kids fucking around in a mine
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. This idiocy is reserved for armed adults.
last one for now. Have fun shooting around mines OP. I only know of mines in southern California, Nevada, and Arizona.
>>32315419
All of these look really cool. Did you ever find anything spooky in any of these mines?
>>32315460
nothing too spooky, just things to watch out for, false floors, timbering that is collapsing, old dynamite, blasting caps.
> You can see the timber giving way in certain sections, its anyone's guess when it will finally collapse.
>>32313041
There's a barbed wire fence and a sign that says "Stay out, stay alive" outside of mines for a reason nigger
>>32315736
>God knows we always do what signs tell us to. Grow some balls get out of the basement and live a little.
>>32315419
>>32315419
OP here I'm currently in SoCal, any recommendations?
>>32316032
These pics. are all from death valley. Ive been to mines in Julian, Dulzura, and Mojave. The Warlock mine in Julian is worth checking out. Have you ever explored mines before?
>>32316094
No not since I was 15. Can't even remember where it was too since that was 5 years ago.
I want to say somewhere in the apple valley but I'm probably wrong.

If you start to get into it bring plenty of lights and batteries. Light is the most important thing. Helmets are nice to have, but not needed. It has kept me from getting stitches a few times though. I would start with smaller mines until you get more familiar with the dangers of mines. Other than that take a bunch of pics, and have fun. Most of these mines are over 100 years old now. What men were able to accomplish back then is amazing.

Shooting in the general direction of a mine, using it as a backstop? Might not be an awful idea.
But mines are notorious for exhausting toxic fumes that will build up to lethal concentrations before you even realize that you're getting sick. There's a reason miners used canaries back in the day, and modern in-use mines are frequently monitored for toxins and contaminants, and miners are required to use specific and expensive PPE to mitigate the risks.
Not to mention unstable terrain above and below, reduced visibility, risk of dangerous wildlife...need I go on?
In short, don't fucking do it unless the owner of the site tells you it's a-fucking-okay. Which will likely never happen.
You can afford guns, but you can't afford a range rental fee or a gun club membership?
At the very least, find a friend with a large plot of suitable private land and check the local & state ordinances on weapons usage. People will respect you for doing the right thing, and if you do end up making a mistake, that respect will probably buy you a pass on whatever consequences would ordinarily follow.

You fucking bet, captcha.

Looks like Indy and Short Round should be along presently. Nice pics, anon.

Shooting as a backdrop was what I meant. The reason I specified mines was because they have the added bonus of a cool place to explore.
Thanks for all the advice.

Are you a MSHA inspector? Hard rock mines air quality is usually pretty good, as far as explosions are concerned I wouldn't worry about it too much. Miners used carbide lamps, and candles to mine.
>miners graffiti made with carbide lamp.
All I can say is as always when shooting don't be a fucking idiot and everything will be fine.
Also please don't shoot at structures around mines. Do what you can to preserve mining history.
>>32313209
Teaser
The dots on this ore chute were made with carbide lantern as well. It was a way of keeping track of ore cart loads.

do you use the shaft, or just stick to the tailings?
>Anyone know of abandoned mines in the south west region of the U.S.?
Shitloads of them. More than the feds can keep track of.
Us old USGS topo maps to find them. The farther from an urban area the less likely to be capped or locked.
Pic related is mostly vertical shafts, which wouldn't work for you, but you get the idea.
The only time I want to be underground is when I'm dead. Even then, nah I wanna be creamated

>everyone looks battle ready except for the faglord in jeans and a hoodie up top
Where the fuck is Moleman when you need him?
>>32317997
That video is fucking creepy.
>>32319849
I'm the fag up top. I was wearing a long sleeve shirt, not a hoody. I brought a sick desert night camo jacket but my gf got cold. Pic related shows aforementioned jacket as well as my tactical shoulder bag, tactical Glock brand Glock, and tactical drop leg bayonet.
It was a scouting meet and we had to hike quite a bit, so I didn't want to be too encumbered with all my gear.
