I heard FOU guy is a dick

I met him at a gun shop in Melbourne yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen boxes of 223 in his hands without paying.

The guy at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “mate, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear him, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When he took one of the boxes and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told him to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After he scanned each box and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting him by yawning really loudly.

>>32313387
Yeh plenty possible depending on what you have been diagnosed with.

Given mental health is so broad and covers so many different conditions most wont be an issue at all. Essentially all you need is a letter from your treating doctor saying Anon suffers or has suffered from xyz condition and this does not impact upon his ability to safely own and operate a firearm.

Of course if you are suicidal with paranoid schizophrenia then you wont find a doctor in thenworld to sign that statement.

If you have a more mainstream and minor condition which is what I presume you mean by vague diagnosis then you wont have an issue.

One key thing. Do not lie on the forms. If you get caught lying its taken as dishonesty. This will make you inelligable for a license for several years, even if the condition you were trying to hide wouldnt have been a problem.

>>32321564
Angry letter is generally what you get for things that are illegal, but not that bad. After all, anybody can send stuff to you.

For them to actually go to the trouble of checking the origin, proving you actually requested it be sent to you, etc. you have to be talking something serious, like drugs or something.

American here.

First off, apologies for the ignorance, but WHAT exactly is Category D?
Exclusive gucci shit that only people with extra money/time/valid reasons can own...?
To my knowledge things like handguns are in this category, yes?
I feel bad for you fucks. I'm not gay but I definitely would mail-order a poor Australian bastard and marry him just so he could have citizenship.
>>
>>32322433
Handguns are Category H. Category D are rifles that could potentially be used to kill a class of kindergartners, which is why it's such a damn outrage that the seven shot Adler is being moved, because most kindergartens have like twenty kids.

Category D is basically only for people employed to shoot shit. Professional pest people, kangaroo killers, dog destroyers, rabbit rampagers, etc.

Pity politicians aren't perceived as public pests...

Category A: Rimfire rifles (not semi-automatic), shotguns (not pump-action or semi-automatic), air rifles including semi automatic, and paintball gun.
Category B: Centrefire rifles including bolt action, pump action and lever action (not semi-automatic), muzzleloading firearms made after 1 January 1901.
Category C: Pump-action or self-loading shotguns having a magazine capacity of 5 or fewer rounds and semi automatic rimfire rifles up to 10 rounds. Primary producers, farm workers, firearm dealers, firearm safety officers, collectors and clay target shooters can own functional Category C firearms.
>>
>>32322433
>>32322510
Category D: All self-loading centrefire rifles, pump-action or self-loading shotguns that have a magazine capacity of more than 5 rounds, semi automatic rimfire rifles over 10 rounds. Functional Category D firearms are restricted to government agencies, occupational shooters and primary producers in some states. Collectors may own deactivated Category D firearms.
>>
>>32322433
>>32322510
>>32322513
Category H: Handguns including air pistols and deactivated handguns. Neither South Australia nor Western Australia require deactivated handguns to be regarded as handguns after deactivation. This class is available to target shooters and certain security guards whose job requires possession of a firearm. To be eligible for a Category H firearm, a target shooter must serve a probationary period of 6 months using club handguns, after which they may apply for a permit. A minimum number of matches yearly to retain each category of handgun and be a paid-up member of an approved pistol club.[3] Target shooters are limited to handguns of .38 or 9mm calibre or less and magazines may hold a maximum of 10 rounds. Participants in certain "approved" pistol competitions may acquire handguns up to .45", currently Single Action Shooting and Metallic Silhouette. IPSC shooting is approved for 9mm/.38/.357 sig, handguns that meet the IPSC rules, larger calibres such as .45 were approved for IPSC handgun shooting contests in Australia in 2014.[4] Barrels must be at least 100mm (3.94") long for revolvers, and 120mm (4.72") for semi-automatic pistols unless the pistols are clearly ISSF target pistols; magazines are restricted to 10 rounds.
Category R/E: Restricted weapons, such as machine guns, rocket launchers, full automatic self loading rifles, flame-throwers, anti-tank guns, howitzers and other artillery weapons can be owned by collectors in some states provided that these weapons have been rendered permanently inoperable. They are subject to the same storage and licensing requirements as fully functioning firearms.[citation needed]

You're basically picking between 30 round AR mags and folding stocks with those two. Nobody cares about the folding stocks thing here though, the only big downside is that it is still illegal so the possibility is there and that new shit like the RPR gets prohibited by default. The bloke who's the current head of firearms unit in the NT seems to be pretty open about letting shit in though so it probably wouldn't take much to get the prohibition lifted.

You see that itty bitty piece of metal between the barrel and the mag tube...right there nuzzled up to the receiver...yeahhh....that. don't lose it when you remove the mag tube. It's not attached to anything. And it likes its freedom.

You're thinking of the Covenanter Arms PR22. That was 1500-2000 depending on options.

This is Wedgetail Industries supposed pump AR in 308. Think locally made troy PAR

>>32321811
Ruger MkIII Target, I can't use it in official matches but it's fine for club shoots, so no worries meeting the quota.

>>32322614
My understanding is you need to complete the required number of matches in that calibre. So if I got another 22 for proper competition shoots, I just need 6 matches on record using either of them

I was actually advised to look at '.22 Action Shooting', which apparently exists though nobody shoots it anymore. Any ausfags heard of it?

Westralian / Perthite, btw. Still fucked though the latest thing from our police commissioner is a step in the right direction (namely he wants to remove 'appearance' being a reason to ban stuff)

The requirement's based on classes rather than caliber, but even then most clubs will let you shoot ISSF with a non-ISSF-approved handgun. It'll be recorded as a comp, so don't worry about it.

>>
>>32326404
Right, so if i had a number of pistols under .38 caliber, I would be able to do a lower number of comps? seeing as they are under the 'non-controlled' list

I really should just do the pistol starter course to find out more shit, coz the vic licensing website is vague as fuck
>>
>>32326934
There are four classes.
>Class 1: air
>Class 2: rimfire
>Class 3: centrefire below .38 (based on diameter, not power)
>Class 4: centrefire above .38
>Controlled: short barrels etc.

The number of comps you need do depends on how many classes you have, not how many guns you have in each class.
>>
>>32326975
Right.
Are there the same number of comps required for each certain class?
And if you have 2 classes of pistol, does it add a couple more comps on top of your initial amount, or is it doubled?

Ok, that clears it up a bit, thanks.

You in Vic? Do you find it hard to keep up with all the comps and shoots? What kind of shooting schedule do you have?
>>
>>32327028
Rules re: handfuns in NZ are similar, except its just attendances, so as long as I go and sign in enough times a year I can keep em, however why just sign in when you can go and shoot.

December and I am not even half way through my attendances yet. FML
>>
>>32327102
I've only just finished my provisional, but I didn't have any trouble with that.

It's basically just one a month, it's really not hard. And pretty much everything you do at the range counts as a comp.
>>
>>32327130
Doesn't sound too bad.
Is it possible to do multiple comps in one day?
>>
Looking to get my licence and .22 in the next year or so. Gonna be killing roos for my uncle on his property once I get it, anyone got recommendations for a .223 or .243 rifle for it?
>>
>>32327152
Technically yes, but it says you still need to have them spread over at least 10 days so it doesn't really make a difference.

Don't think of it in terms of comps though, just think of it in terms of range trips.
It's 10 visits to the range per year.
>>
>>32327169
I think i can manage that.
What pistols you plan on getting/have gotten?
>>
>>32327332
Haven't really decided yet, but the local gun shop has an M&P Pro for pretty cheap, so I might get that.
>>
>>32327348

Local company owned by one of the biggest gun shops here manufactures extended mags for a lot of guns. They'll cost you from $110 to $170 for them though.

It suck that you can't just take off with a bunch of sweet guns and go out to the middle of the desert and shoot the shit. It's bad enough you guys have dickhead roo's. Very popular. Mate of mine uses one in .35 Whelan for taking down scrub bulls and buffalo. Lots of .308 and .30-06 ones kicking around too.
No where near as popular as big name bolt/lever actions though (eg Howa 1500s, Marlins etc).

I have never seen an extended 10 round mag in person, but where I am you can just buy the 20 and 30 round ones. They're not cheap though, minimum $150 usually.
I know interstate the extendo 10 rounders are sold and they seem popular with people who go overboard on their 7615s.

John Motherfucking Howard, he went to some pretty extreme lengths to get what he wanted.

Rewind to '96, the federal government forces these new gun laws on the states. The Queensland government tells Howard to go fuck himself, we'll keep our gun laws the way they are. John Howard then cuts off all federal funding, all of it. This leaves Queensland in a hell of a quandary, either accept the new gun laws or no money until they do.

In an alternative universe where he was never elected, Australia might still have all the funs.
