Is this the best pocket knife ever made that is affordable? Which version is the best? Is it pic related? S110V baby.

It's definitely one of the better ones. Can't say I dislike it as I own one myself, but the s110v is pretty pointless for most people. S30v that comes with it is solid af.

Do wish they rounded the edges a bit more on the g10 though.

Why do you own four of the same one? There is like a dozen different varieties out there.
>>
>>32297997

I don't like any of the other versions. Problem?
>>

I once camped out in front of the Spyderco factory outlet in Golden, CO in the last week of November for their factory seconds sale. Snagged up a crap ton of knives that didn't make it through quality control for whatever reason and sold them on ebay. Had a handful of these in the mix. Even selling them as factory second knives (they have a grind mark on the blade to signify them as seconds) I doubled my money.
>>
>>32298065

How much did a second PM2 run? Just out of curiosity.

I really dig mine, but IMO the best price/quality ratio knife on the market has to be the RAT 1/2.

Any time someone asks me for a knife recommendation for a do it all, affordable pocket knife, I say RAT 1.
>>
>>32298112
Doesn't the RAT have liner lock issues?
>>
>>32298086
It's been a few years and my ebay won't show that far back, but I'm fairly certain I gave $40 or $45 each for them and sold them for around $90

I bought one, I really like the knife but the damn thing is so wide, I can't put my hand in my front pocket with it clipped in there. I stopped carrying it because I use my pocket more often than the knife.

Ended up buying this thing for $10 and I use it every day. Screw driver, scissors, knife, pick my nails with the file. Damn thing is fantastic. I open the fuck out of cardboard boxes with this little fucker.
>>
>>32297921
I use my multitool. Or a $1 gas station knife that is "China". Whatever that means.
>>
>>32298421
Not in my experience.

It's also a heavily reviewed knife, and I've never heard of any issues.
>>
>>32297991
where did you get that pocket clip? for the para?
>>
>>32298430
Only $40? Bull shit. If you bought a PM2 for $40 it's either fake or someone didn't know its value
>>
>>32299050
Did you actually read his first post? They were factory seconds from the annual sale at the Spyderco factory outlet store.

Picked it up off of Amazon for about 30 bucks. It's nice but the anodized finish has scuffed a bit.

Yes, I carried one for about a year with no issues at all, the steel(8Cr13MoV) holds a nice edge and is on the slightly easier side to sharpen, you did good.
>>
How's the Spyderco Tenacious?

I've never owned a real knife before and was looking for something that's good quality and good for EDC, but I don't think I'd really use it enough to justify paying $60+ for one. I was also thinking maybe it would be good to get a more affordable one to sort of practice on first before I shell out more money for a nicer model. Any opinions?

Mine's ok. Not great, but it does okay.
It's kind of a bulky knife, and I carry my Kershaw leek a lot more frequently. The action on the tenacious is kind of slow and gritty. I need to open it up and clean it, but I lost the microscopic torx bit I need for the screws. The blade can take a decent edge, but the factory edge was trash.
>>
>>32297921

Too big for the best overall

I find the Delica (and chink Meadowlark) to be more practical for EDC

The PM2 is probably my favorite folding knife design. Great ergonomics, the compression lock is excellent, the blade is sturdy enough for hard utility use while retaining a distal taper to make the tip usefully thin for cutting things (as opposed to stabbing sheetmetal), and the blade geometry is reasonable.

Only downside for me was that the PM2 wasn't offered in any relatively high apex stability steels. Finally this year two CPM-M4 dealer exclusives changed that (I bought both) and I may yet add the Cruwear sprint as well.

Which steel is best depends on what type of cutting you mostly do, how coarse or polished an edge you tend to use, and what kind of sharpening equipment you have.

No, this meme knife is garbage:

> TERRIBLE edge / overall length ratio
> poor edge / weight ratio
> blade recesses near the choil, making a very poor cutting angle
> pointless choil takes up potential cutting edge, but at least you can "choke up" for """fine work"""
> a fucking gaping hole in the blade (love how spyderco has turned this meme into their signature)

On the bright side, it does have good ergos, good materials, and generally acceptable workmanship. Compression lock is okay, but not near as strong as people think. However the 940 does not suffer any of the same shortcomings

Just looking at this pic you can see how abysmally pathetic the PM 2's edge ratios are compared to the 940.
>>
>>32222222
>>
>>32307244
>940

Yeah, too bad about that ridiculous blade geometry. 3mm blade stock sabre grind with such a short blade height is not a good combo.

Also, for me, the choil is really nice because it means I can sharpen a PM2 on muddy waterstones without getting any grit in the pivot.

For the money, Spyderco Delica 4, Endura, or Native?

EDC

Corrosion resistant is a huge plus
>>
>>32308026
Salt if corrosion resistance is your main concern.
>>
I want a VG10 Blade,
G10 Grips
I also want a choil

Any spyderco options out there?
>>
>>32308026

Native 5. It's the most expensive, but not by much.

It's very lightweight, and has the ergonomics of a smaller Paramilitary 2. The best part is the S35VN blade. It's my go to camping folding knife because its so damn small and light, but capable, can go forever without needing any attention to the edge and isn't too expensive that I would feel bad about losing or niggering up.
>>
>>32308138
In the off-chance you're not joking, there's the Native 5 and the Kiwi. The Kiwi has been recently discontinued and has been discounted by retailers.
>>
>>32308259
I'm not joking.
>>32308187
Whats good about the Native 5?
Will it hold an edge for a long time and will the knife itself take tons of abuse?
I want the G10 grips because it rains like a motherfucker in Seattle.
Can I still do the Ziptie trick with the Native 5?
Can it take abuse?

Read my post.
Yes! I can say from experience. I've never sharpened it and I just use a strop/honing rod in a year of good use
They make one with G10 but it's $$$. The zytel grips on it are fine, and I'm in Seattle too. Grip is not a problem with it.
yes
yes
>>
>>32308332
Thanks senpai.
I'm trying to sell some shit and narrow my life down to just a G43, and a solid knife and EDC set up. Native 5 looks like its it, right after I buy a G43 and sell my AR.
Thanks man. Have you had any corrosion issues with the rain or down by the water with the native 5?

Don't you have some 4 knives to find a purpose for?

I bet you own a Glock. No, I bet you own 4
>>
>>32298461
It means it was made with 6% less steel per unit than specified and significantly varying chemistry
>>
Why are you faggots not buying zero tolerance knives? I've had mine for like a year, daily abuse and it's still sharp enough to skin a deer. Tho it's probably time to take it to a stone and get that razor edge back.

Shame it has that spyderco blade hole, looks horrible.
>>
>>32307244
>ridiculous edge ratio
>gaping hole in the blade

These two things alone have prevented me from ever buying a spyderco. I will likely never buy one, too, seeing as how the funky geometry they use has become their calling card.

I'm not an expert on every knife out there but I've owned a LOT of knives over the years and I always come back to Benchmades with an Axis lock mechanism. If you can find a used Griptilian, I'd take that over most anything out there. It's light, ergonomic, no nonsense dragon heads or lightning bolts, good steel, solid lockup, best deployment/close option I've tried, parts galore, good factory warranty, etc.
>>
>>32308859
>>32308869
Exactly what is your problem with the hole?
>>
>>32308931
Makes blade wider than necessary. I don't mind it but prefer a thumb stud or flipper.
>>
>>32308931
It's not very effective as an opening device. It looks ridiculous. Its inclusion makes the whole knife noticeably wider for absolutely no objective benefit. It holds little fuzzies from your pocket

It's just spyderco's signature that they refuse to redesign.
>>
>>32309020

Did you take up boxing instead of science class?
>>
>>32308832
>lets put a classy folder knife in heavy duty and then cry when it does in fact break, because it was in heavy duty.

fucking people.

How do you know it's not very effective as an opening device if you've never owned a Spyderco?

Valid point, but it can be argued the big FFG is really good at slicing
>It holds little fuzzies from your pocket
True, but that's the same case with basically every pocketknife.
>>
>>32304771
I got a CaraCara2 and its a great knife. its easy to sharpen, and holds an edge good.

its the best copy of an Endura I've ever seen.
