idiot, you forgot the strongest action there is, the single shot (falling block or rolling block). This is much stronger than bolt action and protects against gases from ruptured cases.

did you want flintlock added too?
>>
>>32290155
You put break action rifle in poll, something that can only work if built to high tolerances, any wear on the swivel mechanism will cause gas leaks or total failure to go to battery. Something only built to please collectors and not anyone who really uses a rifle in the field. And you somehow think falling block is obsolete. This is a perfect example of how idiocy still has its way in the gun industry
>>
>>32290267
Have you ever heard of a fucking handi rifle?

>>
>>32290024
I like cock on close Mauser actions.

Your poll is as flawed as CNN's before the election.
>>
>>32290317
That they are extremely popular hunting rifles that are not made for collectors and used in the field extensively
>>
>>32290434
the only companies that make break action are small companies that hand build them, which means they are very expensive and only meant for collectors. no major manufacturer would build a large bore break action rifle due to liability of the inherent risk in this kind of action
>>
>>32290478
>the only companies that make break action are small companies that hand build them
what the fuck are you talking about?
>>
>>32290024

Interesting how Lever Action is so popular, I wonder why.
>>
lmao nobody voted for mosin yet in 34 votes.

Break-action my dudes.
You just can't beat that FUMP sound when you close it.

I really do like Mauser action too though

Is lever action going to be a new meme?
>>
>>32291114
if you've ever actually shot them, you'd understand why it's so high. you're just showing that you're noguns.
>>

I wasn't surprised at all by the result. Lever actions are reliable and fun.

[insert some ammosexual /k/ joke about how cycling a lever action is better than jerking off]

Plus they typically cycle even the shittiest of cartridges just fine and you can pretend to be in the wild west which is a bonus.
>>
>>32290639

Sounds tempting, I have been considering getting into cowboy action shooting since you can't own anything fun here in Cali.
>>
>>32291168
fuck cowboy shit. it's just a gud action

Your distinction between types of bolt-action isn't how bolt actions work. Mausers, for instance, are not explicitly cock-on-open. You can have a cock-on-close Mauser (like pic related, my Carl Gustaf m/96). There's also the P14 and M1917 Enfield rifles, which are cock-on-close like a Lee-Enfield but have bolt designs more similar to a Mauser action.

You also have plenty of rifles, such as the Mannlicher-Schoener, Vetterli, or more recently the Browning A-Bolt (which incidentally is somewhat similar to the Vetterli), that aren't based on any of the three "major" bolt action patterns.

Basically, your poll should probably just combine all bolt-action designs into a single option.
>>
>>32291268
oh get over it anon. just tally the bolt action votes up.
>>
>>32290336
>Defending your family with anything but a semi auto, handgun or pump action shotgun

What

that was the joke
>>
>>32291649
It was a shit joke
>>
>>32291665
you're just too dumb to understand it
>>
>>32291677
Not him but why didn't you bring up the break action or the bolt in that? Heck if it's legal a manual action for defense is darn silly if you have semi automatic options.
>>
>>32291619
>>32291665
>>32291695
Are you people retarded? The reply was for the autist that was shitting his pants that OP didn't include fucking rolling block action that literally nobody uses for anything other than hunting in africa.

>>32290336
Who brought home defense into this?

It's which action you prefer, not WHY you prefer it?

I happen to like the rolling block action because of its strength and mechanical simplicity, but I know it's not the most modern.

Firing a single shot rifle is a joy. My grandfather taught me to shoot on an ancient Remington Rolling Block rifle.
>>
>>32291736
How many use a break action or straight pull these days? Just saying that I agree with the sentiment that in a manual action poll a rolling block and lever actuated falling block would be nice to have.
>>
>>32291788
are you actually trying to debate that a bolt action is equal to a single shit rolling block action for home defense?
>>
>>32291803
The question is 'what is your favorite' not 'what would you grab in the event of midnight enrichment' if that was the question pump would pretty much be the universal answer followed by a thread arguing about semiautomatic rifles and shotguns.
>>
>>32291858
i guarantee you that at least 95% of /k/ that has ever shot a gun, has never shot a rolling block.
>>
>>32291921
M8. It's a free poll and adding options doesn't cost anyone anything. I don't even think OP is here anymore so the argument is pointless, the only argument me and the other guy are making is that single shot actions like the falling and rolling block are manual actions that are common enough that they warrant a place in an anonymous online poll on am anonymous image board.
>>
>>32291995
then fuck it. put your vote in chat if you're so adamant about rolling block actions. lol what the fuck
>>
>>32292018
I just like arguing with strangers on the internet, I like break action best.
>>
Breakfags:
Ejectors, or just extractors?
>>
>>32292139
Ejector of you can afford them, extractors for everything else.
>>
>>32291803
this poll has nothing to do with home defense

>>32291921
its not about that. its about whats your favorite is, and if your gonna have the autism of seperating bolt action into 3 seperate styles, then may as well and other styles of single shot rifles as well.

honestly dude your just as autistic as this >>32290115 >>32290267 guy, just in a different flavor
sage this shit
>>
>>32293008
Why would you sage this? This gay ass conversation has nothing to do with my thread. Fuck off faggots.
>>
>>32293024

Because your thread sucks and your poll is shit

Sage'd again
