Is it weird that manual operated firearms get me hard?

They're just so satisfying, man.

not at all, anon. your fetish is very common here.
>>
>>32289724
What gun is that, and should I get a bolt action shotgun in something like .410? how to they compare to other shotgun actions (semi/pump)?
>>
>>32289743
I have a magazine-fed Mossberg bolt in 16 gauge, the capacity is low (2+1) and the action is clunky and slow compared to a pump. Also, if you try to pull the bolt back while the gun is on safe, it locks up the action.

it's cool as fuck and it's fun to shoot, but bolt-action shotguns are obsolete for a reason
>>
>>32289667

I like levers but I fucking haaaate the big loop levers. You only need your thumb in the loop not your whole hand.

Also pic related, I fucking hate the lever guns that feed from the front rather than the side. Fuck that shit.

>>32289875
I never thought bolt action shotguns were a thing really. Just someone taking the idea of a bolt rifle and being like "hmm, we can chamber shotshells in here too". Ive seen them on websites before but I think the idea is silly.
>>
>>32290898
I think the big lever loops are for use with large winter mittens. I've only seen the big loops on large bore lever guns, such as the Marlin 1895.
>>
>>32289743
I had a .410 bolt action, Mossberg model 80 from the early '30s. It was fun as fuck, held 4 rounds, and was super smooth and simple. Very light too.

They are pretty common on Mare's Legs.
>>
>>32289667

Nah, I'm the same. I watched that Westworld show recently, there was one part where some bandits shoot up the town and rob the bar whilst all firing lever action rifles, was fucking orgasmic.

If I didn't live in a no funz zone, I'd totally get myself a Mare's Leg. Love that shit.
>>
revolvers and lever guns are my hands down favorite gun. fast, smooth and bomb proof, no unnecessary parts to fuck it up. pure elegance.

semiautos are OK, they put lead in the air, but they're just not fun. something goes wrong, there's springs and fucking screws screwing things together in non-intuitive ways, peices that shouldn't come apart that do come apart, like the fucking top half of the gun.

I regularly and unironically masturbate to the scene of Tuco in the gun store, that was the pinnacle of the art and all else since then has been a dehumanizing march to the future.

here is the scene, so that you may also jerk it my fellow Luddites

>>
>>32289667
i like to browse /k/ while repeatedly field stripping and reassembling 1911,
or just cycling the action on my M700
>>
>>32289667

Not weird at all.

In fact, I think that purely from a fun standpoint, manually operated firearms are superior to autoloaders, simply because there's more to do.
>>
The last two guns I've gotten are easily my favorites: a CZ 75 and a Winchester 94. The CZ is an automatic pistol obviously but at least there's a bunch of levers and shit on it, and racking the slide is fun. Winchester is super fun and satisfying to cycle, especially when you're actually shooting and the spent casing pops up and comes down on your head or around you. Raining brass on yourself is fun.
>>
>>32290898
You cock a lever action with your thumb?

Mine's a pre-cross bolt safety Marlin, so to carry loaded the safest method is to -carefully- drop to half-cock. Working the lever's a lot louder and a lot more motion than thumbing back the hammer.

That guy though either is kind of a wimp or hasn't heard or wrapping his lever.

I have a marlin 336 and the lever never really wants to stay in place it usually droops about an inch from were it should be at lock up. has anyone experienced this?
>>
>>32295183
Sounds like you need to go to a smith.
>>
>>32295183
I have one and when im loading around the 5th or 6th round the lever pops out once in a while. Anyone else have this issue?
>>
>>32295778
its supposedly called “Falling lever syndrome” i thought it was normal till i read the thread as it came like that. ill write in here when i find out what causes it

It's not just you. I feel the same way about sailboats too.
>seeing, hearing, and feeling the action move under the direct control of your muscles, and each shot feels like it counts more
>taking a boat out on the water and cutting the engine, with a steady tailwind and your hand on the tiller, without a sound in the world except the wind and waves, and the occasional quiet discussion with your crewmates
There's something very zen about it.
>>
>>32296405
plastic stock. Probably from the late 80s early 90s. I think I remember having one of those as a kid too. With the colt peacemakers.
>>
What are some other manually-operated actions besides lever action, bolt action and pump action? Are there any?
>>
>>32297543
Break action
Falling block
>>
>>32297421
Wrong. Its the Hubley 250 shot Scout Rifle.

The Hubley Scout Rifle was extremely popular in the late 50's.

You can even find some versions dating as far back as the 20's, but the Scout Rifle was out out of production in the early 60's.
>>
>>32290898
I've heard the bolt-action shotguns are more common in Australia due to the ban on semi and pump-action shotguns.
>>
>>32297543
Straight pull
Rolling block
Falling block
Gatling
>>
>>32301326
Hinged block
Dropping block
Tilting block
>>
>>32301326
Straight pulls are more of a side tech to standard bolt-actions, as they just use a cam setup to rotate the bolt instead of having to lift a bolt handle to unlock.

>>32293267
This mainly, and I'm not sure if the makers of the guns condone this use of their products but they are good for spin cocking. This works best on Mare's Legs because there isn't much stock or barrel to hit the user as it's spun.

not all of them are though, the earlier mannlicher straight pulls had a dropping block to lock and this one modern straight pull rifle has radial locking bearings that retract
