The first Crusade was warranted as it was meant to go remove Kebab for good from Southern Europe. They had to go and actually push some Muslim shit in as hard as they could. In the process they decided to try and take Jerusalem because it is actually a pretty important city, religion aside. It was a good hub for trade. They happened to plunder a lot of stuff. Which lead to the Church to later call for more crusades. It made them more rich. The average crusader believed he fought for god. Sure. But the guys who started it all (after the first one. First crusade was a good thing.) Were just looking for a way to make treasure. All the Pagans were converted, dead, or about to be dead in Europe. And the Church needed more people to get monies from. And new boogeymen.
