Any modern bolt gun in the $300 range. If you must have milsurp, Mausers, Enfields, Springfields are all worth what they're going for.

Still somewhat true but only for us Canucks. Numbers matching round receiver 91/30's with good wood and metal start at about $180 syrupbucks and include the bayo and cleaning kit.

Don't get me wrong /k/ommandos, I do think that all great things in life come covered in cosmoline but...
>nuggets are way overpriced

If you want a fun comblock rifle that is cheap to shoot for a few extra bucks you can get an SKS (I'm in Canada, idk much about US prices but I'm sure you guys have some cheap milsurps down there too)

If you want a hunting rifle by the time you put a scope on a Mosin with current prices it will cost you more than Savage Axis. Plus the nugget will weigh more, have worse trigger and probably be less accurate than the Axis.

If you want something for home defense you can get a pump action Pardner for pretty much the same price as a nugget. Yeah it's probably not a great gun but it will go bang when you pull the trigger.

That being said, I own a Nugget, and it is fun to shoot. And it's interesting to even hold one if you understand even the basics of metalworking and mass manufacturing. When I took it apart I realized that ruskies started to manufacture their "last ditch effort" rifles before WWII even started.

All in all if you have some spare cash buy one. Just don't believe the meme that they are the best you can do for the money.

Also

>If you want a fun comblock rifle that is cheap to shoot for a few extra bucks you can get an SKS
That's not how it works in the US, it's considerably more expensive. And non-shit SKSs are rare to find.

So I already have two nice fins and a decent Ivk, I was thinking of cutting the barrel down and making a sudo scout rifle. The rifle was free in the trade and is nothing special. Yes; $150 is pretty good for a Finn-captured M91/30. Don't worry about the mis-matched numbers; the Finns only cared about matching the bolt to the rifle.

I had owned guns for 20 years before I bought that nugget. I did my research before I bought it and I knew what to look for. The rifling is pristine. The crown is perfect. By all rights it should be an accurate rifle. It's just not. Even with quality modern ammo.

That's fine. My feelings remain unhurt.

The fact is, that of all of my milsurp bolt action rifles (currently 17) the Mosin is the least accurate one I own. I absolutely hate it but I'm not going to get rid of it. That's one thing I cannot and will not do unless absolutely necessary is sell a gun.

I bought your standard 91/30 a few years back. Got all the cosmo out of the wood and checked the firing pin length. I am about to go put a few rounds through it here soon

In all of your experiences how does it typically hit on target? I don't expect it to be a tack driver but will it hit fine on a dinner plate size target from 50-250m? I have some tulammo and ppu to try out on it.
>>
>>32304450
It will likely not be zeroed. Get a tool to push the sight left or right. It's also likely to be shooting a bit high, which is normal. "Belt buckle hold"; aim at the bottom of the target or just below it.

It'll print 3-6 inch groups at 100m depending on the quality of your rifle and the ammo you shoot from a rest. If you're really lucky you might get around 2MOA.
>>
>>32304450
Note that they are usually sighted to be fired with the bayonet on. Removing it changes the point of aim significantly
>>
Just bought a 1932 hex the other day, should I refinish and add a scope? Or leave as is? The wood is in really good shape and I removed all the cosmo.
>>
Should I get a mosin soon since they keep going up in price? I already own guns and I know the mosins arent be all end all, I just like how they look wandtheir history. Will they go down in price again?
>>
>>32305053
Probably not. Just make sure you inspect hard. Counter bore is not a bad thing, but bring a bullet to do the muzzle test anyway to check for bore erosion. Also check the face of the bolt for burs.

In the good old days ( 2009-11 ish) You could get these things for 80 bucks. The ammo in a 440 round crate was another 90 bucks. It was an amazing bargain.

Nowadays that value isnt there anymore. The rifles are 300 after shipping and transfer and the surplus ammo isnt around much anymore. The mosin has gone the way of the SKS. There are simply better rifles for a poorfag to get into.
>>
>>32302610
Yes.
>>
>>32288259
Is steel cased ammo bad for the Nagant?
>>
>>32306964
we got an m44 for like 70 bucks back in like 2007...
>>
>>32307067
Examples of said rifles pls?

I have a mosin but I'd totally grab another cheap rifle if it's reliable
>>
>>32307500
>the military ammo produced for over a hundred years has all been steel cased

>>32307645
>if its reliable
You know its kind of annoying that people always ask this. Unless a gun is a total humongous piece of shit that nobody would recommend in the first place, the gun is going to be fucking fine. A cheap gun in your price range, which seems to be the range of "i have a few hundred dollars and I just want another gun to boost my numbers" is going to be a bolt action. Bolt actions are pretty fucking reliable. Most semi autos are more reliable than you will ever need for your once every 3 months range trip to shoot 40 rounds anyways. Keep it maintained and you'll be fine.
Buy a savage in 308. Full size rifle, you can get them for like $300-400 to fit your budget and throw a bushnell scope on it I'm sure. Steel case 308 pops up for pretty cheap sometimes if you look, and surplus german brass case can be had for $.50 a shot.

Good god I fucking hate mosin fags. I got rid of mine because of the stigma of being a mouth breathing poorfag every time I shot it was too much. Fun gun for $100, mouth-to-foot retarded for $200
>>
>>32288300
that scope is mounted so high I could never get a cheek weld

Russians didn't start making steel-cased x54R until after WW2 IIRC. My 1929-vintage Russian L-ball is brass-cased.

>>32307780
Neat, I learned something. I do have some 1945 ball on stripper clips that is steel cased. Shit still works great.

I'm looking in getting a Mosin Nagrant and the only one in my area has Camo and arch angel stock and is also in a packaged deal with a Savage Axis at $450. Not sure if I should just wait and get the package deal and possibly sell off the Savage. Any advice /k/?

On some Nuggets it helps. Mine all shooting about 2MOA without but some do shoot much better with their bayonet.

Ive got an m39 with SKY on the reciever, from what i gather that means it was made for the finnish civil defense. Thats pretty neat i think.

Ive got nothing else to contribute.
How hard do you think it would be to make a repro bayonet for one?
>>
>>32299848
I'm not so sure if its finnish. Its got a USSR stamp above the 1939.

Captured by Finland, not made by. It's got a Finnish-made replacement stock, cleaning rod and sling swivels.

Pretty much any modern budget hunting rifle will be more accurate. And some even come with a scope. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/mossberg-patriot-308-win-combo-bolt-action-rifle-with-scope
>>
>>32309354
God fucking damnit those are such nice markings. I wish the Sestroy's were easier to find.
>>
>>32291246
Have you used this in an enfield?

I haven't gotten any .303 from Wolf yet. I usually like there stuff for my SKS and 9x18 pistols though
>>
>>32312154
There's one on GB but the markings are super faint(like a lot of sestroryetsk) and the year is illegible. Still, last one i saw was an 1894 and sold for like $800
>>
>>32312315
And that last one was at least 5 month so ago. I almost traded my Sestroryetsk for a 1944 Tula M44 but decided against it because it would have been very hard to replace the Sestroryetsk
>>
>>32312329
Yea, dont get rid of it. Hold on to that shit.
>>
>>32288259
I don't care about the shit price compared to what it was, but I fucking want one. What is the best deal I can get online, and what big box store would have the best average deal for it.
>>
I have a nice Hex receiver 1930 mosin with 2 spam cans, how much should I ask for it?
>>
>>32312375
I'm not going to sell it. No way. they rent way too hard to find.
>>32312388
Spam cans are selling for 170 plus right now. 185 for the rifle, I wouldn't go less than 175.
>>
>>32312388
wait 5 more years then sell
prices are still rising, wait until they stabilize a bit

Pretty effective, and a super nasty wound. The spike widens the wound as it goes, causing further internal damage.

How does x54R compare to something like .308 or .303 British?
>>
>>32311471
Facebook, before they banned all sales of guns. It was a 1943 Izhevsk 91/30, in good shape. I think the guy just wanted to be rid of it
>>
>>32311303
NV here. gotta deal and got the scope with it for $400 total. seemed like the cheapest so far as I have seen. really wish i got on the band wagon sooner.
>>
>>32314927
x54r is basically rimmed .30-06 but power wise it's closer to .308 since literally 90% of the x54r weapons ever made are nuggets.
>>
>>32307743
>I got rid of mine because of my imaginary fear that other people were laughing at me every time I shot it was too much

Corrected.
>>
>>32314911
Yeah, pretty neat. Triangular/square bayonets are banned by the Geneva Conventions. So if you kill someone with it in war, you technically committed a war crime.
>>
>>32315676
>Triangular/square bayonets are banned by the Geneva Conventions
No they aren't.
>>
>>32307743

>>

>>
>>32316333

>>

Hauge convention.

>Art. 22. (e) "To employ arms, projectiles, or material calculated to cause unnecessary suffering;"

Serrated, triangular, and square bayonets fall under this description.
>>
>>32316813
You're thinking of Legal burden of proof, in which the claim against the status quo is required to show proof.
In anywhere, but the court of law, the person making an original claim of a fact has burden of proof.
>>
>>32316340
huh maybe its cause i was at a gunshow and all the mosins were like 315. no i haven't shot it
>>
>>32317194
So basically, you have no proof and are trying to shift the blame on to me. Embarassing, Anon. Really sad.

So I read it, and there is nothing in the wording that specifically forbids any type/shape of bayonet for any reason at all. Conclusion: you're full of shit.
