battleox unboxing
mission 22
spoiler alert
this thing is pretty cool. it's like an encyclopedia. if you have a question you just look it up and it has an answer. kinda like the internet but made of paper.
some kinda tinder thing.
wood impregnated with some kinda wax or tar.
i gotta look into it
this is my favorite thing in the box
does not come with a negro cat
>>32287943
It's fatwood...
How much was that box?
>>32287995
i'll show the mission card in a bit. not super expensive but not cheap
i'm tempted to keep that knife as is and use it for throwing but it came with this
>>32288015
god damnit
bag was ripped. not sure if it's supposed to be that way but i don't really give a fuck
not a great knife, but not bad. i'll probably toss this in my tackle box.
this thing on the other hand...
i own more than a few knives and i don't claim to be an expert on shit but this thing is sharper than anything i've ever handled from the factory.
it took skin off my finger when i rubbed it.
then there's this...
...and this
>>32288087
I don't know which one you got, but you could easily assemble one of these for about $40 minus the knives, possible one of them but not all of them. Which one did you get OP?
>>32288119
i get the $150 box
>>32288119
I'm guessing $150 since it came with the Tops knife.
>>32288119
Looks like he got the 149.00
>>32287978
i really do like this fucking blanket. it's heavy as hell.
This is interesting. Worth the money?
>>32288206
Its literally a surplus wool blanket costs like $10-20. I stole like 4 from the army when i was in. Everyone wanted one when i got home. The procurement never ended.
>>32288242
Not usually. They can buy the parts as wholesale, so trting to price them at full retail price makes it looks like a good deal, but as you can see you get a lot of nonsense.
They're great if you like the gearqueer consumerism approach to life.
>>32288245
it's awesome
>>32288242
i guess that's up to you. i think so.
they come with all kinds of shit you want but you never think of buying.
>>32287906
>Taking pictures of boxes and packaging
What brand of fucking autism is this?!
KILL yourself.
>people actually buy this gimmicky shit
>>32288042
>>32288033
moras arent bad knives, but /k/ and /out/ poorfags shill them like they're the second coming of christ
>>32288285
welcone to /k/, now get out
>>32287974
I love wool blankets. I have some kind of natural reaction to wool anything, when I touch it or wear it I just feel happy. I've got two 3 1/2 point Hudson Bays, a Serb army one which is my best surplus, a Polish one which would be great if it was better made, two British ones and a new made Cotswold sherpard's blanket. Hudson are far and away the warmest, but the Serb and the shepard's blankets are the toughest. I just use them for my bed though, too impractical for outdoors stuff because I rarely have a fire big or long enough to sleep right with just a blanket.
This actually looks alright as one of these boxes go. Usually they're full of a bunch of useless bullshit but this is all decent stuff that you might not already have. I'd buy it if I could get it for the same $150. (They want $220 or something for past boxes and that's not worth it.)
>>32288272
A lot of these companies that participate in the "box" services like this actually pay the company to include their products. As a form of advertising.
And then that box company gets you to pay them. They make money on the front and back end of the deal.
>>32288017
An installation disc? Even goddamn knives need software to run nowadays... didn't see a USB port on the tang there so it's probably some propriety socket connection too. Good luck with that, OP.
>>32288087
>buying the more expensive packages means less of a return on retail value.
There's no point in getting anything beyond the basic package since the more expensive one show less of a savings.
>>32288632
how much time would you spend going out and getting those items at the price listed?
>>32288724
priced everything out
Tops knife Cub, $110 - Amazon (and Im not sure the sheath is included for that price from amazon)
Dragonfire fatwood tinder, $5 (only available at their website)
Milsurp Wool Blanket, $20-30 Amazon
Mora Pro C, $12.40 - Amazon
Bushcraft Bible $10.07 - Amazon
ZombieTinder Blanket pin $19.95 (was actually a buck more on Amazon)
Wazoo survival whetstone $24 - Wazoo
self reliance outfitter knife kit $49.99
unnamed brand canvas ruck $40 to $70
(I would say the listed price of $42 is pretty accurate, it looks like a rothco but the buckles and stitching look nicer)
so, not including the "readyman membership" you're looking at $290 worth of shit for $150, thats not including time and shipping from various retailers.
so yeah, OP, despite the hate it looks like you did get a pretty good deal, I actually really like the blanket pin, tops knife, and canvas sack and wool blankets are GOAT
the knife kit looks like a fun little project.
normally Ithink these boxes are bullsbit but this one looks awright.
would buy
>>32288961
you can buy older boxes if you're a member but i think they're like $50 more.
>>32287906
nice manpurse
>>32288961
There are a few boxes out there that you can get a decent value on. The problem with all of them is that you end up never using most of this stuff. You might be getting a good deal but if it's a good deal on something you don't need then it's still a waste of money.
And the worst boxes are the ones that only include the stuff you can get for free at trade shows like that stupid IV88 box.
>>32289097
>>32289097
i like his channel but those boxes are retarded and you can tell he's overwhelmed with the money he's making. desperation is a stinky perfume.
and i'll never use any of this stuff (wearing blanket now). i got into it cuz i like not knowing what i'm getting and getting random knives is cool. just can't carry fixed blades in this awful state so they're useless to me.
>>32288096
>>32288087
You really paid $150 for all that?
>>32289180
every month for last 3 months. yes.
>>32288050
Nice! I have a TOPS BOB fieldcraft and it's easily my favourite, you'll enjoy that blade. How much was the box?
