Anyone here done this?
Is it really that bad?
>>
>is torture bad?
It's tortuous.
>>
>>32284968
My friends tried that at a pool party. After 5 seconds, first "victim" felt like he was drowning, so we stopped

Dude was a surfer and a state champion swimmer, not a pussy
>>
When I went through SERE we were waterboarded and subjected to other "advanced interrogation techniques". It sucked. It REALLY fucking sucked, but I would in no way call it torture. The worst was the loud static for 72 hours in a concrete room with no food. Occasionally they would come in amd throw a bucket of freezing water on you.

Compared to what?

I've seen a cartel video of some guy with both his hands cut off, his face peeled off and having a rusty machete shoved down his throat (all while still alive).

Compared to that, no, I don't think it's really that bad.
>>
>>32285069
SERE guy here. Time makes no difference. It is instant, holding your breath makes no difference. If you want to know what being waterboarded is like, stick your head underwater and inhale deeply.
>>
>>32285061
Now try doing it for ten years because you fucked your next door neighbours wife, so he told the Americans you're a Taliban, but they keep calling you a liar when you say you're not and screaming about some guy called 'Ben Laddon.'

Like fuck off dude, I don't know any Bens, that's an English name, and the Brits left decades ago, I'm just a fuckin' goat herder, but do they believe me? Nooooo...
>>
>>32285112

how does it make you feel like you're drowning? the rag is over your face, and they pour water over it, but how?
>>
>>32285172
>but how?
Your brain. It's an automatic reaction, same like when the doctor hits your knee to make you kick, it's just something you don't control.
>>
>>32285172

Give it a try yourself, if you've got a towel, some water, and can lay at a slight incline your good to go. This isn't exactly brain surgery.

Bullshit.

I waterboarded myself in the shower when I was a kid

was pretty goddamn fucking shitty, but I kept doing it anyway for some reason. I didn't even know what I was doing at the time.

Yeah, but Buddha died of food poisoning, so shows how much he knows.

Please post video evidence of you being waterboarded so that we can assess your expertise on what it's like to be waterboarded.

Why do people like disputing proven science?
>>
>>32285232
You can get enough to survive, but not much water actually enters your lungs, so it doesn't cause drowning. It's more suffocation if anything. Drowning and suffocation are different things

Relative to being strangled, ironed, whipped, crossed, forced to ingest copious amounts of honey/milk and tied to a boat full of said honey and milk, roasted, sun-beaten, shown your own organs, losing limbings, losing sight and taste, losing the ability to speak, skinned alive and salted, blammed, and covered in biting/stinging insects, it's pretty alright given no permanent injury.

The key to good Intel collection from a prisoner is time and the threat of some impending doom (real or imagined) from a force larger than both the prisoner and the HUMINT/CI guy.
>>
Well its definitely torture, no if ands or buts. Like we wouldnt be waterboarding all those people if it wasnt torture - thats the whole point of it in the first place - to torture them into whatever ends we desire of them.

Obviously there are far worse methods of torture. The reason that waterboarding is so controversial is that it doesnt leave any visible marks of torture having taken place, which allows us to deny having done it because our laws say we cant be doing that shit.

Honestly depends on the situation. Shouldnt be torturing suspects. Shouldnt be torturing POWs either. However people who are red handedly guilty of doing some real fucked up shit should be fair game - let them reap what they so and be made an example of. Mercy unless pushed too far, at which point anything goes.
>>
>>32285006
>felt like he was drowning
you realize that's the point

that's LITERALLY why it's torture
>>
>>32285232
It basically turns your throat into a bong. You gasp for air, and you get air, but you still feel like you're drowning because your mouth and nose are full of water, and the sensory paths that tell your brain "O fuck, I'm drowning" take signal from the areas filled with water when you are being water boarded. You do get water in your lungs too, but it drains out.

It's pretty dang bad, but at least you get to keep all your finger nails and shit.

This. There's a certain cruelty in inflicting minor pain for long periods of time. Imagine you were in a prison, and at full blast they played this on loop
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mmCMUPCNgE
Little food, little sleep, and nothing but Powerpuff Girls. In a society, in a group of people, you'd probably form a religion around it. But in isolation? You'd go mad. You'd say anything.

I'm a massive pussy. I was exposed to a fraction of CS gas for a few seconds. That small experience made me never want to use chemical weapons on someone.
>>
It's terrible. Probably one of the worst experiences of my life. I was for about 10 minutes and it feels like you're on the brink of death the entire time.

He can sit down in front of you and start shoveling food in to his face. Then he can take his shoes and socks off and show you his feet. Waddle up and give you a hug so you can smell the pork and rot.

You will learn much about self control.

It isnt that bad, once youre brain realizese youre actually not drowning.Atleast not when you know that the people around you are not trying to kill you.If you have been abducted and dont know who is standing before you or if they want to kill you, it might be worse.
