Glad to see you guys got ones that shoot straight, I have one that shoots 6 inches to the left even when the rear sight is adjusted so far to the right that it's about to fall out of the slide.

: (
>>
SARCO sold me mine for all of $175.
>>
>>32284886
Mines a bit off too, sometimes. Mine had the sight WAY too far to the left so my dad whacked it with a hammer and screwdriver then fine tuned it the rest of the way myself.

Got your self a popper hi power holster. Just bought my dad this one.
>>
>>32284886
My dad already has a safe queen Hi power so I was thinking about getting one of these. If I get one that doesn't shoot straight, could I just replace the springs and barrel to make it shoot straight? I know Hi power parts are identical and interchangeable with this gun, what ever it is called.

Got a new in box Hi-Power Mark III last week, and I am getting a WASR this week. Only complaint with the Mk3 is the hammer, does anyone make rounded hammers for the New BHPs?
>>

Pretty sure you can just pop an older hammer in there. http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/trigger-group-parts/hammer-parts/hammer-sear-sets/browning-hi-power-hammer-sear-spring-set-prod20906.aspx

Thinking about picking one up for a general purpose pistol that can do CC, does the Hi-Power do ok?
>>
>>32285885
Cause if you unholster your weapon in a defensive situation and accidentally drop your mag, then you at least have 1 bullet to shoot

also if you want to drop the hammer super safely, you would need an empty mag to stick in there to dry fire.

I picked this up for $350. Cheap because it's been refinished but some previous owner put a lot of effort into restoring it. All the springs seem new and the safety has a nice snap to it still, unlike my other very worn out nickel model.

You can add any Hi Power hammer you like. Cylinder & Slide generally makes good parts.

>>32285561
Hell, yes. There are at least a couple-few extended safeties out there.

>>32285885
First thing I did with both of mine was yank it out. Actually, my Hungarian already had its gone when I got it. I hate it when my gun tries to be smarter than I am. If I press the trigger, I want the hammer to drop, period.

>>32285908
The Hi Power is damn near perfect for a general purpose, general use pistol, and also a sweetheart to carry. It feels lighter and slimmer than you'd think it would. Possibly the best carrying full size pistol around. It's really closer in size to a 4" 1911 or G19, though slimmer than both.
>>
>>32292091
I haven't done it, but I can't foresee any problems with just adding the FN ambidextrous safety to an FEG clone.
>>
>>32285548
Cylinder and Slide does if you want new.

Personally I'd use an older T-series or GP35 hammer.

Is it possible to remove the rest on a PPK mag? I've got one I inherited from my mum's father and I believe the spring-mag for one of the mags is misbehaving. Last time I shot it a few years ago (neglected to shoot much but I keep it oiled and well taken care of) it would stovepipe on that mag but not on the other mag. So I figure get a new spring for it or just a new mag, but I want to make sure the rest keeps that sexy brown matching color.

Yes, they are removable. There is a hole in the magazine floorplate. Use a punch and push upward to unlock the floorplate from the retainer and slide the floorplate forward off the magazine.

Here is a chart showing the variations of PP and PPK finger extension floorplates. Mine is a Type 4.
>>
>>32296298
The Mk.23 is infamous for being both incredibly durable and reliable in the harshest conditions where other guns will fail. It was the winner of a Special Operations contract for a combat handgun system that could serve as a primary weapon rather than a sidearm. There's just one problem (aside from the fact that buying one will cost you ~$2000):

The gun is massive to the point of being unwieldy. It's the same size as a Desert Eagle, for reference. Even the USP, which is a scaled down version of the Mk.23 meant to address this problem, is still huge compared to most other popular guns these days.
>>
>>32285973
...You didn't happen to pick this up at a gun show, did you?
>>
>>32296441
Hot damn. I held a USP at a shop a few months back and thought 'this gun is pretty damn big', and the parent gun is even bigger? I don't think that would bug me too much, though, I just dove on a PX4 Storm early last week. Sub-300 for a .45 was just too good a deal to pass up.
>>
>>32294046
A little over $600 with the holster and after taxes
>>
>>32296532
That is a pretty good deal on a pretty good gun, although I have some bad news for you. There's a special edition of the PX4 Compact with some awesome features that's releasing very soon.

It's the brainchild of Ernest Langdon, a champion shooter who also designed the awesome Beretta 92 Elite series back in the early 2000s, and it looks like it's going to be the definitive release for the PX4.
>>
>>32296573
Is that a good price in your area? I've seen 3rd gen S&Ws here for in the low-to-mid 300s here. Is there anything that makes your particular model special?
>>
>>32296638
Ah well. Maybe I'll pick it up in 9mm and make it my carry gun. The one I got is the full-size, so it's a bear of a gun, but hot damn does it shoot amazing. Whatever wizardry they've got going on with that rotary barrel works.
>>
>>32296532
The gun itself is great. Yes, it's huge. But I'm not conceal carrying it either. I use a Safariland drop leg holster at the range and in the woods. It's my ultimate SHTF pistol because 45acp is a very common round, and I know it will be the most reliable firearm out there.

It shoots very well. It points naturally despite its size and the recoil is very light. There is a decent amount of muzzle flip due to high bore axis, but I plan to get a suppressor for it later on. It's 1 of 10 HK pistols I own, along with a USP 45. The magazines are even interchangeable (the usp mags require a floor plate swap which takes 10 seconds to do). Overall, it's a beast!

Yeah, I hear you. The PX4 has been on the margins for years mainly due to terrible marketing by Beretta, but it's recently seen a rise in its popularity thanks to word of mouth on the internet.

This is the one I was talking about by the way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1LVe8kWaWU
>>
>>32296690
Very cool. I've heard lots of good things about H&K overall, and mostly for the cool weird gun factor I've always wanted the MK 23.
>>
>>32296658
It's special to me because it's a no dash 4506 with strong rifling and isn't beat to hell.

A lot of third gen S&W like the 5906 go for much lower prices. You could probably find a no dash 4506 for less on gunbroker but after shipping and FFL transfer fee you'd probably still be close to $600. Also the 4506-1 will cost less if you just want a third gen S&W .45 and don't care about the minor differences between earlier and later 4506's
>>
>>32296469

No, it was at a local gun range's used counter.
>>
>>32296766
Could you educate me on the pre M&P S&W autos? I know a lot about their revolvers, but not their autos other than that a lot of people don't seem to hold them in very high regard.

>A lot of third gen S&W like the 5906 go for much lower prices

Yeah, those are the ones I've seen the most by far. I assume that they were police trade-in guns.

>>
>>32296885
Thanks. That was an interesting read. Do you know offhand if any of the 10mm 3rd gens were any good? I had heard that the Colt Delta Elites of the same period had extremely short life cycles.
>>
>>32297018
I don't think the S&W 10mm guns had any better luck than the Colt's or Bren Tens as far as life cycle.

I know the FBI had plenty of parts breakages in their 1076 pistols they bought and they even cancelled the rest of their order. I don't know though if they cancelled it because of the short life expectancy of the guns or because of their agent's inability to manage 10mm recoil or some combination.

If I personally were to buy a third gen 10mm it would be mostly for show and I would limit it to lower power 10mm rounds when shooting, which kind of defeats to purpose of 10mm.
