Short answer: hipsterism since everybody and their mother uses Magpul products now

Long answer: some of Magpul's recent products haven't been as well-designed as they used to be (see: some of their AK furniture), and certain things people want (read: 5.45 AK mags) have become vaporware while they churn out belts and shirts and plastic pouches instead.

There's also the fact that Magpul stuff has always been relatively inexpensive, and /k/ is bipolar about both wanting cheap things (muh nuggets) and not wanting to be seen as a poorfag (muh Geissele). It's why I've seen people shit on PMAGs, despite them being one of the most cost-efficient AR mags on the market, simply because Lancer L5 AWMs are fancier and /k/ thinks that if you're not using the fanciest things available it just means you're too poor to own them.

I mean, the Lancers /are/ better, but let's be honest, 99% of AR owners on /k/ don't run their guns nearly hard enough to break PMAGs in the first place.

This word is overused. Full disclosure, I have an AK Magpul Zhukov buttstock and I saw MAC and AKOU's failure videos. I maybe wouldn't equip a conscript military with it, but it's not "shit." I wish they would have reinforced the hinge; then it would be perfect. If you need that extra durability, get Zenit or Bonesteel I guess. I think the problem here is the AK is a military weapon that is known for it's durability, so people expect zero failures. As for the grip, it's fine. Foregrip, also fine. The mag is the only thing that is a real problem for me, so I will concede that to you.

I hate magpul on AKs (with the exception of mags and maybe pistol grips) but I will give them credit for being one of the only companies making side folder stocks for fixed stock AKs. As for their AR stuff, kinda bland but effective IMO.

That's because the thermolds ARE shit. I had thermolds because they were all I could get during the bad old days, now that PMAGs exist, they are strictly backups for when my lancers and PMAGs are for some reason dead, and my USGIs are also dead.

I have magpul on my shotgun and my AR.

Their shit is good enough. It made m 870 much more handy, i'm not sure why shotgun manufacturers feel the need to make their stocks like 8 feet long.

I'm tallish, but prefer shorter lengths of pull.

Only fits saigas, their handguard is retained by a screw that attaches it to the receiver, much like a free float AR barrel. Idk how the magpul one works but it's for standard shit AKs not glorious saigas.

There's not Gen 3 FDEs because they're making them in MCT instead. It's a bit darker than existing FDE, but meets US government color requirements, which is a huge potential market for them.

Fagpul is alright. It's plastic equipment so don't put their stuff anywhere you wouldn't want pretty much all plastic parts to be. For grips and foreends they're alright, I don't trust their stocks, sights, and mags to be all that sturdy (I only have experience with their AK mags which are junk, both gens have plastic feed lips and locking lugs, even the gen 2 that they say has metal lugs has one metal and one plastic which is BS. Pretty sure the metal one is aluminum too, but they don't overcharge for their quality level so whatever)

They're pretty good.
I'd say a 100 series stock is better as far as stability, but if your receiver isn't drilled for one, the zhukov is the next best thing aside from the rare/expensive stuff like the folding krebs stocks and stuff.
