I haven't even started building my cetme so i have nothing to contribute.

I wanna know the difference between a CETME and a PTR? Which one is better for reliability, durability and overall accuracy?

Century CETMEs are kinda shitty.
Century C308s are really shitty.

PTR91s are almost as good as HK91s.

FA91s are basically parts kits.
Someone will post a .webm of a janky FA91 with a wobbly receiver and tell you it's a PTR91, it isn't.

Little to no difference outside cosmetics. Most (all?) parts are interchangeable

CETME is the spanish acronym for their arsenal that does research and stuff. The CETME C rifle is actually a model 58.


PTR is just H&K's G3 in a civilian package.

So really theres no difference unless you buy into the H&K quality meme

The sights of the G3A2 and later are different compared to the CETME; windage & elevation is done by the rear sight on the G3A2.

The G3A3 also introduced the free-floating barrel, something that CETME then adopted with their Modelo E but few of those were manufactured. The PTR91 is a G3A3 clone, so it has the free-floating barrel whereas the Century CETME sporters do not have the free-float barrel.

Also, seriously don't buy a C308, even if a Century shill says they're made on PTR receivers, build quality is shit and they shoot +5MOA on a good day, absolutely abysmal for a roller delayed .308 rifle.

It's actually the German gov't that does, their export laws are quite a lot more unreasonable than most US import laws.

If it wasn't for import and export laws they would still be selling HK91s and HK94s to Americans today.

wrong.

furniture, for the most part swaps over. recoil spring bushing on a HK needs a couple LIGHT passes with a dremel to fit into the bolt carrier. the Bolt carrier, bolt, Locking piece,barrel, and trunnion are NOT interchangeable. It'll more than probably fit, but that's just eyeballing it. IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED to interchange these parts between the Cetme and HK91 rifles.

You can use the firing pin and firing pin spring from a HK91/G3 in a Cetme with no problems. certain handguards need fitting as the Cetme uses a different style of attachment(originally). once you are able to get a hk handguard over the barrel, you can use the HK handguard pin. it'll just rest on the barrel. Front sight post is not interchangeable without major fitting. the recoil buffer assembly on the Cetme is larger diameter than the HK91's. receiver on newer Cetme's are HK's flat's. so, HK optic mount's will work. Original Cetme's and early CAI Cetme's can use HK mags (with fitting, IIRC. might be the other way around). HK trigger packs and housings' will work in later CAI Cetme's with minor fitting.

kinda sorta. the import thing originally was because of us. HK was the ONLY company to fight the assault weapon import ban. NOW, it's kinda both the German government and us. HK tries to submit rifles, and they get shot down. Honestly it just feels like the BATFE has it out for them.
