do you feel drunk with power when in the possession of a firearm?
>>
>>32263332

No.

And for that matter, now that I'm a gun owner my urge to kill myself has actually decreased.
>>
>>32263332

no

I'm very aware that I'm no operator and even a moderately well trained combatant would cut me down easily
>>
Having a gun makes me feel more responsible since i am in the possession of considerable power. When you realize how easily you could just start killing people it makes you less prone to rashness and more measured in your temperament.
>>
>>32263332
no

if you do that's only because you haven't realized yet that OTHER PEOPLE ALSO HAVE GUNS AND THEY CAN SHOOT BACK
>>
>>32263332
I feel drunk with power when I'm drunk. So i'd have to assume that being drunk and shooting would make me feel like Pol Pot.

Captcha was street numbers, the NSA knows.
>>
>>32263332
yes

>>
>>32263332
No. It's a tool, much like my drills, hammers, and screwdrivers also don't make me feel drunk with power. Feeling that way with a gun either means you're very emotionally mature and you've never grown to respect a weapon or you're actually drunk, in which case you shouldn't be holding a gun.
>>
>>32263332
It is just like my car keys something I always have so no my guns do not give a sense of power.
>>
>>32263332
No. At most it makes me feel cool because guns are cool.
First time I ever held my revolver, I autistically held it with one hand and dry fired it over and over.
Made me feel like some gunslinger in an old western.
>>
No because I'm not a maniac or a little beta bitch that keeps tabs on how powerful I feel in certain situations

This. Holding a loaded gun gives me the same feeling as when I'm driving a fast and valuable car. I'm in control of something that can be incredibly satisfying if used properly but destructive and tragic if handled irresponsibly.

Damn, I wish I could afford to buy myself a Dynasty 200DX like I used to use at work. I miss that shit. That feeling of the outside world fading away as your mask dims, with only the glow of the bead in your predator vision and the hum of the machine as your companion, your boot rocking back and forth on the pedal, as you shape a tiny world one bead at a time. That shit is zen as fuck.

Actually, it makes me feel impotent. A 40-something old woman doing makeup/texting while driving, which has a much greater chance of killing more people than mere mortals with a firm grasp on their position in life. Unlike deranged liberals, imported migrants, and hood rats, soccer moms can kill much more than a room full of people. They can kill a highway full of people.

And that makes me feel sad, to know that no matter how much a man tries to be the deadliest apex predator, he will always be outdone by a really stupid lady bending over her seat on a highway to pick up her dropped purse.

No. I feel it as a physical and metaphorical weight of responsibility. Having that heavy chunk of steel pressed against my body for hours at a time is a reminder that I have to hold myself to a higher standard of behavior.
I’m glad for it, and the day I need it I’ll be even more glad for it.

Drunk? Goodness no. The opposite, in fact. Knowing you have the means to kill something without even touching it is a sobering thought.
>>
I unironically occassionally play around with an unloaded .22 pistol that I like to dry fire.

I know it's bad form but I've never used the pistol that much and I always try to make sure it's never loaded (even though I haven't loaded it in 5 years).
>>
>>32263332

No.

Always.

>>
>>32263332
No, just more confident. I feel like I'm more free to go places and do things without fear of other people--bums, junkies, etc.

>inb4 you should still avoid bad places while carrying, situational awareness fgt

It's the other way around--I was going to go to those places anyway, so carrying just makes me feel a little safer doing it

>Step father is trying to dick a teenager for using a gun to save his life

Holy shit that nigger needs to be ventilated
>>
>>32272662

With my limited understanding of criminal law (I practice civil law, fuck dealing with criminals), the step father is likely trying to deflect any sort of criminal charges onto his "son" instead of onto himself. If one of the melanin enriched individuals had a family member that tried to sue the step dad, they could ruin his career and reputation.

For whatever absurd reason, he seems to believe ruining his step son's entire future is a better option than ruining his own reputation/life. I can't speak for anyone, but I'd be far more worried if my child/friend/etc was safe, even if they did steal my gun to remove Zulus.

What makes anyone even think there would be a danger to his reputation? Two niggers broke into a residence armed with a loaded weapon and were shot a single time by a scared teenager.

Why possible civic suit could there be in that situation?
>>
>>32272726

A lot of States have incredibly severe punishments for this type of stuff. New Jersey for example will hold both you and the user of your firearm accountable for full crimes (murder even) if the firearm is "stolen". In other words, if this exact scenario happened in New Jersey, Step Dad would be charged with gross negligence, improperly storing a firearm with a minor in the home, and possibly even murder of the two Basketball Americans. New Jersey believes that no one is allowed to touch a firearm they do not own, even if it is a life-threatening situation that would have them acting in a purely defensive manner.

However, Step Dad can be found innocent of the charges in this NJ example if he were to charge his son with breaking into his firearms and illegal using them. This would pardon Step Dad of gross negligence and improperly storing a firearm if he could prove the son brute forced his way into getting the gun (or stole the key/password).

Welcome to New Jersey, home of the fucked up laws:

>need a Firearms Purchaser ID to buy guns ($150 in feeds and ~2 months background check)
>need to go through this process (fees too) every time you want a new handgun
>NJ lets commit incest, but the female has to propose (also uncles cannot fuck their nieces, but no restrictions otherwise)
>NJ lets you "divorce" children, meaning they cannot use your last name, are banished from wills and inheritance, and are not allowed to go near you (think like a restraining order)
>NJ will automatically rule in favor of the woman in a divorce if one/neither side shows up to court

I've got plenty of other "what the fuck are you doing NJ" stories too from my court career.

I wasn't a real welder, I just worked with a really good one and he taught me the basics, and then I fucked around on my own projects and stuff. It was a motorsports shop and I was more on the chassis setup side, as well as being the de-facto shop manager. (The owner was more interested in design and fabrication and mostly left it up to me to do the day-to-day operations, supervise the techs, etc.)

I didn't quit, the psycho manchild owner fired me for taking a vacation I'd cleared with him months in advance, and there was nothing I could do about it because I was there as an independent contractor and so it was legally just him not renewing my contract and not actually "firing" me.
>>
>>32272892
I don't know where this $150 thing comes from, all it cost me to get my first pistol was $7 for the firearms ID card and permit at my PD and $50 for fingerprints
>>
>>32276083

Some counties require a $100 fee for an online background check, so it totals up to $150 + any extra $5 or $7 fees.

>>32274973

I mostly do civil law (think litigation or lawsuits), but I do occasionally take criminal cases in a "pro bono" capacity.

>get 18 year old "kid" as client
>he was charged with violent assault, causing mental trauma to a classmate, and some other things thrown in for good measure
>expect thuglet when he comes for interrogatories and such
>clean-cut kid in a suit shows up
>he's incredibly polite and has an excellent vocabulary, seems intelligent too
>turns out the kid he socked was some punk who bullied him for nearly 3 years
>kid tried to go to teachers and parents for help initially, but parents shamed him (told him he needs to man up and deal with his own problems) and teachers said he was just whining about some minor teasing
>kid got locked in rooms, hit sometimes (he'd cover it up before going home), and even got a swirly once
>kid eventually had enough of that shit

Now mind you, this kid was built like a truck. He was easily near 180-200Lbs, but he wasn't fat (he was something like 6'3").

>kid gets bullied at park for the billionth time
>decides enough is enough and informs bully this is the end of this shit
>bully throws your typical "yeah, whatcha gonna do about it?" and hits kid
>kid strikes back for one, and it's the most fucking glorious punch I've ever heard of
>kid struck bully in the jaw with such force that he dislocated the jaw, chipped his cheekbone, two teeth got knocked out, broke his nose, sent him into a goddamn spin which nearly caused whiplash, and ultimately knocked the bully out fucking cold

Cont.
>>
>>32277280

Cont.

I even got to see the Xrays and medical reports to prove all this. The bully was apparently traumatized by this, and he had to get a psychologist to keep him from having mental breakdowns. Basically, the bully's parents waited and sued the kid the moment he turned 18 (he was 17 at the time of the incident) so that they could extract money from him/his family AND get him put in jail instead of juvie. Parents of the kid also blamed him and said he didn't have to get violent.

Long story short, the kid made it out OK because we were able to get a shitton of camera recordings from the halls and park that clearly showed the kid was being bullied for ages, along with testimony from his teachers that they did bumfuck nothing about it.

After it was all done, I shook his hand, told him he's a fucking manly man for what he did, and advised him to do what he's been doing: never get into a fight unless it's the dead last option. That kid had restraint like no other to avoid violence and such for this long. Heck, when he finally decked the bully, he threw a single punch and calmly walked away instead of trying to cause further harm. He testified in court that all he wanted was for the bully to leave him alone, not revenge or so on.

If anything, I am EXTREMELY non-confrontational and deferential when carrying a gun on foot and on the road (I won't shake my fist/honk at ya if you cut me off etc...) for fear of legal ramifications if I could in any way be considered the aggressor or failing to make all attempts to de-escalate the situation.

That being said, I do feel much safer in that if anyone wants to be "unreasonable" and openly infringe on my person and property I can resolve that situation decisively and with extreme (legally justifiable) prejudice.
>>
>>32263377

>>32263332

Not really. I use guns to shoot paper with and have no desire to use my guns to kill somebody.

That being said, I respect the awesome power a firearm has. I'm also humbled by the power a firearm has to kill.

Tl;dr I respect guns enough to not feel 'drunk with power'.
