Because there wasn't one already.
I'm looking for an iwb S&W 637 holster that can be used without a belt and fits it very snug and tight. Currently use a loose and floppy blackhawk tuckable iwb suede holster, works but it is not tight. It was made for "5 shot revolvers" so maybe they decided to include judge into that definition, anyway it's just not good.

Thinking about getting something along the lines of pic related.

Looking for a christmas gift for my dad, and I remembered the laserlyte... I want something like this, but not as expensive. I remember having a lot of fun shooting airsoft indoors with him, so I'm looking for any sort of standalone indoor target shooting thing... Preferably with no real projectiles. The laserlyte seemed decent enough as a practice tool, too.

Looking for something that can just stand by until he just picks it up up off his table and plinks with occasionally... (if you want to call it that)

Little late now, but I wouldn't worry about it. The materials your brushes are made of are quite a bit softer than the material your barrel is made of. No damage was done, unless you wanna be autistic and count the fraction of a micrometer that was scratched by the brushes.

Although, the force it took to force those brushes through the barrels should have been a bit excessive. I'd pay a bit more attention next time.

*All this info assumes you didn't use stainless steel brushes in your stainless steel match barrels.

Commiefornia noguns collegefag here. Moving out of dorms and into an apartment with some cunts because it's cheaper. Means I can get a gun. I want a PTR but do not want to maim it with ungodly fascist pleasing bullshit so I'll get one after I move out of state. I'm wondering what crybaby liberal (tautology -5) approved firearm will have the most transferable skills, a .308 bolt gun or something like an SKS. M1A is a bit out of my budget, unfortunately.
>>
>>32268922
I don't know about MD laws specifically, but the general procedure is:

>make sure that the FFL you want to use will actually accept your transfer, and find out how much they charge before you place your order (call them you autist)
>place the order online
>put the FFL as the shipping address
>either the online shop will already have the FFL file or they won't
>if they don't, they'll request that your chosen FFL fax or email them a copy of their license along with your name and order number
>wait
>wait some more
>almost there
>your nugget has arrived
>it should have your info with the package, so the FFL will call you
>now I don't know if there's additional requirements for MD, but at the bare minimum, you need an ID to pick it up, as well as monies to pay for the transfer fee
>fill out form 4473
>FFL does NICS background check
>pass
>congratulations, you are now the proud owner of a nugget!
>>
>>32268922
Call first. Calling someone and saying "Hey I'm having a gun mailed to you!" is not kosher.
They probably won't accept it at all if you don't call.
Bring valid ID and cash money amount discussed during phone call. Also condoms because you never know.

>>
>>32269949
No they're not. They're just banning "assault weapons" that have bullet buttons installed. Featureless rifles are still permitted as they've always been (no pistol grip, no collapsible/folding stock, no flash hider, etc). The "assault weapons" with bullet buttons that people have purchased prior to 12/31/16 need to be registered as assault weapons or made "featureless."

I tried this in the older thread so I'll ask again here. I'm interested in getting a C&R license, but it seems too good to be true. $30 fee that I have to renew and that's it? Are there any prerequisites or anything I'm looking over or is it really as easy as filling out the paperwork, paying and waiting? I live in New York by the way so I know I still need a permit for any C&R handguns, still working on that process.

Mlit Sparks is what I carry in, but if you want a bunch of holsters it might be unnecessarily tough on the wallet. Consider swaprig or stealthgear for quality value cost fitted holsters.

>>32266028
Aside from the fact that you are now carrying a steel .380 you did alright. If it wasn't your primary carry I'd be more enthusiastic.

>>32268922
Nugget is no longer the best newfuns pick. Consider a ruger american or savage axis, they're much better guns for the money, though they do cost more like 300 than the 175 a mosin tends to run. If you really are constrained to a sub $200 budget you might want to consider a hi-point 9mm carbine because you'll get more defensive value and more training value out if it than a mosin. If you are absolutely intent on a mosin because of milsurp 'tisms then by all means go for it, but it'd probably be cheaper ot go into a gun store and buy one from them instead of buying online, having it shipped to them, then paying the transfer fee they would charge on it.

>>32269311
Consider a lever gun, anon. The skills won't be particularly transferable in terms of familiarity with the recoil impulse or sight picture but fundamentals transfer over regardless of which gun you set down and which you pick up. Besides, a lever gun is still useful for hunting and is quite competent at putting holes in targets within a couple hundred yards in case something happens before you move out of state.

>>
>>32273557
Fair warning. Most gun ranges have a no singles policy. Not even memeing. Unless you have your own gun or you're there with at least one more person, they probably won't rent you a gun.
>>
>>32270827
>>32270827
Depends on how soft the primer is and how it's struck more than anything. If you drop a cartridge with the bullet facing the ground nothing will happen no matter what height you drop it from. Regardless, without a barrel to force the gasses to compress in behind the bullet the bullet won't build up enough velocity to become dangerous for the most part.

>>32272575
There's nothing wrong with that except that unless you're really squared away and well practiced you can induce pretty bad habits pretty quickly with full power rifle cartriges. I don't know any first time gun owner who I'd have considered to have well enough developed fundamentals to go straight to a bolt action .308 before they bought their first gun.

>>32272744
"Better" and "worth" are two very subjective judgements, anon. How much money is $300 to you? Do you value the (relatively marginal) improvements you get by buying HK more than that $300? if so, then go for it. I do not value the HK name on my gun that much and even though $300 isn't that much money to me I don't often buy HK because their customer service is shit unless you represent a LE or military organization.

>>32273490
Look for cosmetic damage like scratches in the Finish, as even minor scratches and imperfections can save you a few bucks. Other than that, make sure you function check (sear engagement, sear release, disconnector function) before you buy. Generally used guns haven't been used that much before they're resold so you don't have too much to worry about from a safety standpoint except for bad bubba jobs but those should be obvious.

>>32273523

>>
>>32273557
You could buy a lesson from them if you are going alone (~$50), but it's like >>32273631 said. Most ranges that rent guns have a "no singles" policy because they don't want idiots to an hero in their range.

Generally I'd recommend you stick to 9mm striker fired service or compact sized handguns without an external manual safety, though. They reduce the amount of stuff you have to keep in mind when using them and are easiest to learn quickly.

That is not how language works, Most people would look at this swivel gun (or maybe it's a pivot gun) and call it a cannon.
IIRC Historically some names for firearms like gun and cannon are given to a weapon based on the difference between the weapons caliber and barrel length.

A cannon (plural: cannon or cannons) is any piece of artillery that uses gunpowder or other usually explosive-based propellants to launch a projectile...

The same internet search will also spit out:
>a mounted gun for firing heavy projectiles; a gun, howitzer, or mortar.

>A large, heavy piece of artillery, typically mounted on wheels, formerly used in warfare.
>A heavy automatic gun that fires shells from an aircraft or tank.

>a large, powerful gun fixed onto a ship or onto a structure on land

Seems to me that the definition of cannon and gun have had a long and varied history, Context is needed to understand what is what when referring to guns and cannons.

Rigidity isn't really the biggest factor for retention. The biggest factor is fit. My Milt Sparks can be bent and twisted with one hand but it has better retention than any other holster I own simply because it fits my pistol so precisely. Oftentimes a certain lack of rigidity is designed into a holster intentionally to make it more comfortable to wear.

I frequently think about this.

I've started at least 8 or so people on the RR. The SA and loading gate really slows the shots down, but still fun as shit to shoot because clicky-click-ImJohnWayne-bang.

It's kind of a two birds, one stone scenario because it gives plenty of time to supervise coaching in between shots, but keeps the shooter from getting all bitchy and hard headed since it's fun to shoot.

Plus you still have the 22mag capability, which is a total different animal from long rifle. I've had plenty of REEEEEEEEs from 22mag. Just another way of showing why you always wear earpro, regardless of caliber.

All in all, its a pretty neat little starter. For under $200 its a good buy. Buy it or use someone else's. They're not superb quality or anything, but then again nobody's realm hiding anything when you buy it. It serves its purpose well.

Hey /k/, recent hasguns here. I'm considering getting the Ruger LCR in .22lr for my elderly mom to use in an emergency. Am I better off looking at the Heritage Rough Rider instead?

I want something that she can handle, and she's been a noguns, bordering on anti-gun, person her entire life so I doubt I can convince her to let me take her to the range more than once to practice.

Any advice or experience would be appreciated.

What lower should i get for my national match ar? I was going to buy a kac and throw an a2 stock on it but i dont think it will be allowed because of the ambi controls.

Really i just want a sweet rollmark
>>
>>32285259
The Ruger will have better sights and be easy for her to load. Use high vel hollowpoints only, and teach her to empty the fucking gun center of mass until the bad guy falls down or turns around. Each shot is tiny little buckshot -- she has to give them the whole load. Sauce: an ex Navy frogman hunting buddy who bought a Ruger Mk. II for his teeny tiny wife as a bedside stand gun ages ago.

>tdlr Crap trigger, nice controls and ergos

Honestly, the trigger is crap on the Variation 3 I own, the travel needed for trigger reset is way too long and the DA pull is just a pound or half too heavy for my taste but I might order a new spring for that.

The grip is very aggressive and you get 3 different side panels and backstraps to fuck with so after a few swaps you can get a good reach, i've yet to CC the p30 so I don't know if that texture rubs hard on you or not.

The previous owner was a lefty so the ambi controls might benefit you but for me it doesn't change much. The paddle magazine release feels so damn good and so does the slide release, the safety works good and its easy to flick on and off without much of a learning curve. My shooting buddy and some anons don't like where the decocker is placed, but I find it just 'okay'. Overall the whole gun balances pretty evenly compared to the top heaviness of a glock,CZ P09 and some other polymer framed pistols i've held.

The only mechanical issues i've had were from limpwristing twice, but otherwise its fed brass, steel and whatever Hornady Critical Defense uses fine.

I paid 620 for a lightly used one (under 100 rounds supposedly) plus assesories at a gunshow, but I did pay $100 for 3 mags, I don't really give others money advice so take that as you will.

Finger fucked a USP9 Compact and liked it but never shot it. No experience with the P2000.

What would you guys choose between an AR pistol, or a bullpup? What difference is there in cost, and left hand compatibility that would have you favor one over the other?

ARs are going to have a better selection for this

You don't specify caliber, usage or anything else just "Hey should I eat an apple or an orange?"

Personally I dislike most bullpups because I have the constant fear of my face exploding even though it's irrational with modern advances and I think AR pistols are clumsy pieces of shit and that you should just buy a pistol carbine instead of one.

I mean it really depends on what the purpose is.

The x95 still needs to meet the overall length requirements while a 'pistol' with a 'arm brace' wouldn't necessarily need too. although you are going to get less velocity with shorter barrels while the x95 retains a 16.5 inch barrel.
>>
>>32292075

>ARs are going to have a better selection for this

Right on, thanks anon.

>You don't specify caliber, usage or anything else

Same ol 5.56, range/inadesert usage (no 100 yard shooting or competitions or anything like that). Really I'm just trying to find something a bit more compact than your average AR rifle.

Also, why do you say the AR pistols are clumsy? What turns you off about them as opposed to AR rifles?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5.56%C3%9745mm_NATO#Performance

The short answer is .223/5.56 is most effective against human targets when the velocity exceeds around 2,500 ft/s

Below that it becomes less effective (Although not ineffective)

Not super applicable to a fun gun though.

There is nowhere consistently good. Just check all the auction sites and maybe a few retail chains like Bud's if it's something super common. Really varies from gun to gun and day to day. Also for an elderly mom I would really be inclined towards a semi auto, perhaps a plastic one like SR22, M&P22, PPQ22.
Rimfire rounds are more difficult to ignite than primers, so trigger on a rimfire revolver in double action will be tough.
