I would not, because the cost of a cheap kit AR is less than the cost of the stock alone.

If you figure in the cost of an SKS + the stock, even more options open up.

I have an SKS for what it was designed to be and because when I got it it was cheap, semi, and kinda somewhat historical rifle.

In some ban areas or communist US states this may have a market. Maybe, if it isn't banned.

Fair enough. Considering it is for Canadian markets, i thought there might be some use for it.

Norinco actually did make a 5.56 SKS once. But only a few hundred were made, and barrel harmonics issues made them crazy inaccurate, apparently. It'S still my dream to find one. That, and one of those weird double-stack TT33 clones.

Because Canadians are limited to 5 round rifle mags or 10 round pistol mags, but there's no rule against putting pistol mags in rifle mags or using rifle mags for one caliber with another.

So there's a thriving trade in regular AR mags marked ".50 Beowulf, for Pistol Use" that will fit 30 rounds of .223, no problem.

Dunno how well it works in that applciation, however.
