3 years ago it was as simple as Saiga.
Nowadays the AK market is littered with bullshit.
/k/ has, with every current manufacturer claimed that they are both shit and the best.
Without going so low as Wasr, what is my most cost effective option to obtain a 7.62x39 mil-spec AK?
Build one.

I don't have the tools necessary to do such a thing.

Mil-spec doesn't exist in the civilian AK market. Cost effective also doesn't exist anymore. The least expensive that I would consider buying now are the Arsenal SLR series or converted Molot VEPRs.
Your only option is basicly vepr..i fell for the overpriced arsenal sam7 ak meme...vepr is best one u can get imo. Just convert it by drilling in bullet guide and filing le mag release and ur gtg. Or buy one alreadt converted
Then pay a smith to do it for you.
There really aren't any imports worthy of buying coming in right now. So hope for a loosening of import laws, buy secondhand, build, or pay a gunsmith.

ignore all the new companies and buy used. 800 for a mak 90 kicks the shit out of any of the current options in the 800 price range in terms of quality.
doesnt have to be a mak 90 just something from that era.
vepr is the other option if you must buy new

I remember buying a Romanian kit for half that price 6 months before Sandy Hook, and a Maadi mismatch 2 months before for $120.00 off gunbroker. Fuck, man.
tfw no 20 round magazine for 7.62x54r Vepr
Got a saiga .308 for like 400 bucks a few years back lol.

This, new production a shit.
I found a MAK-90 sitting in my grandpa's shed when I was cleaning it out. He let me keep it, so I'm wondering if this thing's any good. Does anyone have experience with 90s Norinco AKs?
