I would question your credentials to challenge the list.

F/A-18 is North America's go-to for multirole, reliable, highly modular carrier-compatible fighters. Canada has them, the US has them, the parts compatibility and mutual shredout between USAF/RCAF munitions techs is also a hugely beneficial factor when you think about the aircraft actually being used in NATO support missions or joint NORAD sorties.

It's better than a Rafale, that much is certain. Far too restrictive to be best, and outperformed in almost every way by some other fighters.

I think what he's getting at is that it's currently the most evolved in terms of the roles it can perform, which is true.

The problem is that 4.5th gen is still evolving. The Typhoon might well become the top end one by the time all the 4.5ths are done, though.

It's definitely gonna be a contendership between the Super Hornet and the Typhoon in the end. Typhoons overall performance is higher, but it's still evolving many of its munitions and systems that Super Hornet has right now.

Definitely one of those two though.

Typhoon has had a pretty slow game compared F-18 and Rafale, although this was down to Eurofighter consortium just not investing, until individual countries stepped up their game like Italy or UK.
