Has anyone here ever fired a Krag Jorgensen rifle?

I recently discovered it, and found out it is Norwegian. Norway being the noguns country it is, this surprised me, and as far as i can tell its the only gun that made it past the prototype phase. I know it was adopted by the US Army as the first smokeless powder rifle, so thats pretty cool.

How does it handle by modern standards?

Obviously.

Your point?
>>

Norway isn't noguns. we can own pistols, shotguns, rifles, including AR-15s. however there are are varying grades of education and participation in shooting clubs required for different weapons. Norway Has produced numerous hand weapons on license, and Norwegian Companies own several gun and ammunition patents, including Multi Purpose 50cal, and m72. although it has shifted its focus more to high tech munitions, Norway has been very active in production and development of weapons, and munitions considering its small size.
>>
>>32250891
i forgot to mention that the m72 was developed in the US, but we got the patent somehow and improved it.
>>
>>32250671
I want one so badly but I hardly ever see them at gunshows and I won't buy online
>>
>>32250671

action is comparatively weak, only one locking lug and it tends to shear under high pressure
>>
>>32250891
What kind of guns do you own?
I want to get some guns myself, but i don't know where to start or what it would cost for me to be allowed to buy one
>>
>>32250932
That's what always made me nervous. I'd love to own one, but the ONE LOCKING GUN WITH NOTHING ELSE, NOT EVEN AN INDENT FOR THE HAMMER made my nuts shrink up into my body cavity.

none, i'm a poorfag student, and i usually rent. If you've been a member of a shooting club for a while you can apply to own a relevant gun. pistol for pistolclub, rifle for rifleclub etc. alternatively you can take the hunters test for around 2-3000kr, and then you can own rifles or shotguns. it's been a while since i read up on it, and there are a lot of good norwegian forums on the matter. i also think we are limited to 5 guns. "Dangerous weapons" like AR-15 usually demand participation in a club or something and are difficult to get. i read about a girl in the newspaper that had one. i should mention you have to be 16 to own guns. you can get a used and decent shotgun for around 100$ or 800kr on finn.no. My grandfather owns a ton of rifles and shotguns, and to be hones shotguns are the most fun relative to price in norway.

>one locking
Explain. I know next to nothing about guns

>>32251007
So there's at least 2. It's something
>>
>>32251064
Thank you. I've wanted to do this for a while, i didn't think the hunters test was that relatively cheap.

I think i'd be more than happy with a bolt action rifle and a shotgun. I'd like a revolver as well, so maybe some day.

Okay. See that little chunk of metal on the front? That's the only thing preventing the bolt from going through your skull if you have a hot round or it gets fatigued or some such. Mausers and Springfield rifles -- including the 1896 Swede, which are all contemporary with the Krag -- have two locking lugs.

There aren't any horror stories from the Philippine Insurrection about Krags killing their owners; it's a mild round and a well made gun... but still. It makes a lot of guys cringe.

Imagine -- oh, I dunno -- having an old PC case with an exposed power supply covered with a layer of rubber, and if the rubber wore off and you touched it you could fry yourself. You don't hear about it happening, but the thought makes you gag.
>>
>>32251163
Thank you. I can see why, the thought isn't exactly pleasant.

Do you think that has happened with other guns?
>>
>>32251163
>>32251065
>>32250971
>>32250932

If it's of any consolation, the bolt handle itself acts as an impromptu safety lug, even though it doesn't totally engage the receiver at the back.

It's at least one more line of defense.
>>
>>32251123
cool, lurk on Finn.no for guns. You should read up on the Kongsberg Colt as well, i think it would interest you. head out to a local range with a friend, and the local rednecks will tell you everything you want to know about rules, tests, how to apply for guns etc. shotungs and some pistols are cheap, so check out the Mauser in 30.06 as well. Good Luck, i've gotta go to a lecture
>>
People basically view the krags 1 locking lug the same way they view low number 1903 springfields
>>
>>32251391
Thanks again, and good luck with school.
>>
>>32250800
Are you simple?
>>
>>32251211
>Do you think that has happened with other guns?
not that guy, but the Ross rifle is notorious for it if it's disassembled and not reassembled properly IIRC
forgotten weapons has a really good video showing one firing and the bolt coming back into where your fucking face would sit

I own an American Krag rifle and a Norwegian carbine and recently sold my US Krag carbine. They're great guns. Very smooth action...not the strongest but the rounds 30-40 Krag and 6.5 Swede are not loaded hot, so it's a non-issue.
>>
Just wanted to say that I like sucking nigger cocks
>>
Never shot one, a lot were Bubba'd or rusted to hell. Cartridge isn't too hot, a bit better than a .30-30.

Norwegian versions have two lugs if you happen upon them, though shooting either with factory loads is fine so long as the metal is still sound. Apparently they have super slick actions but the loading system is fucking retarded. Mausers are simply superior.
>>
>>32250671

Pretty sure Breivik owned all his guns legally.

Kinda makes you think...

What does this mean?

I've got one. Haven't been able to find ammo for it though. It's the smoothest feeling action I've ever experienced.
>>
>>32250932
only the American Krags. Norwegian Krags, chambered for 6.5 Swede, had 2 lugs
>>
>>32253487
tey do not produce excessive amounts of back-pressure like 8mm Mauser or .30-06 do. a weaker round works fine with a weaker action
>>
>>32253522
i got some old .30-40 from my uncle. brass cased and the neck/shoulder area is nickle washed/plated

I'm sure I could buy some online but I'm not too pressed to find it. I just buy guns I find interesting... it's kind of an addiction desu.
>>
>>32251211
There was that one company that changes their name every other year because their homebrew .50 cal BMG bolt gun would suffer catastrophic failures.
Theres a video online of a guy who shot one of these and the bolt just went into his shoulder, followed by paramedics.
>>
>>32250671
Norway has like 1.2m guns on a populace of 6m people. Not noguns in my book.

>>32251064
6 hunting guns + 3 handdguns (if in pistol club) without giving a reason. Both can be expanded if you have sufficient activity. Competitions etc.
>>
>>32254393
What the actual fuck is going on with the grip on the gun on the left?
>>
>>32254422
That's just how olympic pistol grips look.
They feel -really- good in the hand.
