Hey /k/. I was wondering how you guys like the G42? My girlfriend and I were thinking about getting her one for personal defense while I'm at work. We recently had a man try to get into our home, and I need her to be able to protect herself. She has small hands and small frame so we need a smallish pistol.
>>
>>32248419

I would look at a G43 or G26 first
>>
>>32248419

I love mine
>>
If you're going to cuck yourself with a .380 then do it because you need it for deep conceal and don't pick a .380 that is the same size as the 9mm offering.
>>
>>32248419
Love my G42, never feel under equipped with it, and it is a great little shooter. I'd recommend it.
>>
>>32248455
How well do they rack? We went to a shop and had her try a few. She had a lot of trouble racking the other pistols. The 42 though, seemed easy for her. idk if it's because it's a .380 or not..

You know what you need for personal defense pal? Pic Related Serbu Super Shorty.
Realistically though, Glocks are pretty good for self defense.
>>
>>32248500

It's fine for me but maybe she needs to do light weights instead of having spaghetti arms
>>
Again guys, for my gf. she's only 4'9" so full size pistols are out of the question. that's why we went small. I'm looking at the M&P .45 for myself, but we need something for her to use as well
>>
>>32248532
Get a SR9E, its perfect for a small frame, feels really nice. My son loves his.
>>
>>32248532

>4'9"

you're making me jealous now, you fuck.
>>
>>32248500

Racking is more technique than strength, my sister is small & weak and had trouble with the G26 until I showed her this link

http://blog.cheaperthandirt.com/rack-slide-its-technique-strength/

I'm assuming your gf doesn't have any kind of health issues/injures though.

I thought my ex at 4'11'' was tiny. Holy shit, anon.

Hi OP.

WITH PROPER AMMO SELECTION .380 is enough gun. Research this shit nigger, it makes a difference, myself I would look at any factory load that uses hornady XTP projectiles, those actually seem to both expand and meet the 12" minimum penetration in gel. Those are things you fucking want.

Myself I would recommend a G26 or 43 first, but if she LIKES the 42 better, and she might, then get the fucking 42. She will probably shoot it better and actually have it nearby when needed.

....Or since you are talking about use at home, we could all stop being fucking retarded for two seconds and you could buy her a rifle/shotgun instead.
>>
>>32248549
nah, no injuries/ issues. Just never had to use or rack one before. I feel like once she's used to it, it'll get easier for her though. thanks for the link
>>
>>32248532

Smaller guns increase felt recoil, especially for a womanlet that is your gf. I would look at the midsize or full size guns that she can wrap her hands around. The glock 19 gen 4 with no backstrap on or a sig p320 compact with a small grip frame module should work for her hands. The extra weight of the gun will have a manageable recoil for her.
>>
>>32248566
They had the Kriss Vector at the shop we went too. short barrel too! her exact quote when she seen it was "that gun looks like a call of duty gun" it didn't have the stock, and was a 9mm
>>
>>32248419
>she has a small frame

How much does she weight and height?
>>
>>32248574
we though about the shotgun/rifle, but they're too heavy for her... i know, i know... but that's the honest truth. I already have a Stag Arms model 2. 5.56 chambered. she can't hold it, or use it though
>>
>>32248604
4'9" 80lbs
>>
>>32248629

Bench press, rows, pull ups, and eating more will help her.

What about a .22 long revolver? It is a bit heavy but it would recoil so hard, no?

My sister's Vietnamese friend was like 4'11 85-90lbs her senior year
>>
I love mine and im 6ft 185lbs. Its noticeably smaller, lighter, thinner than the G43. It shoots very soft and is easy for follow up shots. The underwood / lehigh defense +p rounds make the .380 a viable SD caliber.
>>
The Glock 42 has a lot of reliability issues compared to the larger Glocks, and it was actually the subject of a recall if I remember correctly.

Basically, it doesn't reliably feed/eject any ammunition that isn't high pressure (think how some .22s don't cycle unless you feed them Mini-Mags or Stingers), the factory mags that came with the first release of the 42 were Promag-tier, which is to say utterly horrible, and it also had problems with the slide lock randomly engaging in the course of firing.

While I think Glock has addressed at least some of these issues, ask yourself--is it really worth shelling out $420 for a .380 that only holds 6+1 yet is only barely smaller than a $500 Glock 26, which fires a much better round, which has compatibility with normal, reliable Glock mags, and which has a much more proven track record?
>>
>>32248882
See, these are the replies I need lol. I didn't know any of that. She was able to hold a few in her hand, and she liked the smallness of the 42... too small for me, but its her pistol soo..... how much bigger is the 26?
>>
>>32248930
Bruh we need a some visuals to make an assessment
>>
OP don't even buy her a gun until you go to a range and rent a bunch of guns. Subcompacts, both double and single stacks, may feel good in her hand but the recoil may make her flinch a lot and hate shooting it.

A compact or full size gun with it's increased weight will reduce felt recoil. Try to find a larger gun she can grip/shoot well with.

Got you covered. This is a comparison from the side.
>>
>>32248985
I'm getting the feeling that OP is actually the gril and just didn't want to be swarmed by people saying "stop being an attention whore." so pretends she's her husband, which is why she's mentioning stuff like "too small for me" and "I'd get that for me" etc etc, trying to nervously make sure everyone thinks she's him.
>>
>>32249014
THIS IS /K/ FOR FUCKS SAKE, LETS TALK GUNS, NOT GIRLS!!
>>
I can't see the case for the 42 over the 43. Size difference isn't that much. Plus, cheaper rounds equal more practice. However, shotguns are best for home defense and a 20ga. polymer with pistol grip may still be doable.
>>
>>32249004
And this is a comparison from the back.

As you can see, the Glock 26 is basically the same size except that it's thicker. In exchange though, it holds 10+1 rounds of 9mm as opposed to 6+1 rounds of .380 and is compatible with all normal-sized Glock mags and a respectable amount of normal-sized Glock accessories.
>>
>>32249036
no

If you had ignored the people who had asked for pics and shit none of this would have become a thing, but instead you responded.
>>
>>32249036
This is a special scenario where we really need pics
>>
>>32249036

We won't be able to make proper suggestions unless we have pics of her hands.

Pics of her ass, vag, and tits would also help narrow down the list of guns considerably.

I already did. we do not have a pic of her holding a gun, so there is 0 relevance for a pic. she is 4'9" 80 pounds, and not strong
>>
>>32248629

SU-16.
Kel-tec Sub 2000.
CX4.
Hipoint carbine.
A freaking .22 magnum rifle.

I am frankly stunned if a 4-6 pound object is literally too heavy for this woman.
>>
>>32248882
Slide lock issues are due to the size if the pistol. Your thumb is right in it when firing and it is incredibly easy to accidentally engage it while firing.
It just takes some finger discipline and practice.
>>
>>32248738
Ill stay home with her, OP. Dont you worry. No scary man is breaking into you *home* while im there! I promise!!! Scouts honor!

Also, do you have any milk there? Im thirsty as fuck. And you dont mind if i sign unto my netflix do you?
