Hasn't been the case for me, I'm in IL. You can do it in person or send them a picture of your FOID and they can do it with that.
Right now, I wish I did it in person to find out what the fuck is going on. I called him and left a message and he still hasn't gotten back to me.

Nope. SKS is an OK rifle. I used to have one, but now have an AR and AK. SKS was great, but I had to move on to better things. I really don't understand the hype over the SKS really.

This is why at the end of the day I don't mind paying $20 for rifle and $30 for pistol transfers at a local kitchen table FFL. He probably isn't the cheapest but he runs a business out of his really fucking nice house and is extremely reliable.

If you want to be an FFL and have the nerve to charge way over the standard fees then making fucking time for it and don't waste everyone else's. Nothing makes me rage more than mouth breathers in the gun industry. Sadly there are a lot of them.
>>
>>32249111
Calling bullshit on your lying ass.

>The total state fee is $25. The DROS fee is $19.00 which covers the costs of the background checks and transfer registry. There is also a $1.00 Firearms Safety Act Fee and a $5.00 Safety and Enforcement Fee. In the event of a private party transfer (PPT), the firearms dealer may charge an additional fee of up to $10 per firearm.

>If the transaction is not a PPT the dealer may impose other charges as long as this amount is not misrepresented as a state fee. When settling on the purchase price of a firearm, you should ask the dealer to disclose all applicable fees.

>(Pen. Code, §§ 23690, 28055, 28225, 28230, 28300.)
>>
>>32250174

Contact the NCIS and ask them why your background check didn't go through. If they say they never received one, then the FFL is outright lying to you and either playing with that gun or he's swapping parts out of your gun for parts on his gun.

Seriously. Call the FBI NCIS tomorrow and ask them what is up and why it was denied, and go from there. If they say they never received a background check, then fucking report that the FFL you used outright lied to you about your firearm and is holding it.

Who knows man, he could be trying to kill someone with it then quickly give it to you, fucking you over. Call the gubment and start the process of checking.

I have a tale that's more me fuckery with an FFL.

>like a week after Trump won
>won some money on a bet for the election and got a gud deal on a Beretta Neos that I wanted
>buy it online and call up local FFL to accept it
>live in cucked NJ so need to apply for permits for every handgun I want
>talked to detective and he said permits will be ready in a week after like 1.5 months of waiting
>Me:"Yeah I'll have the permit soon and pick the gun up next week."
>next week comes
>Detective: Yeah I need to finalize some things, it'll probably be another week
>he's the only one doing the permits in my city and is only there like 2 days a week for permits for about 2 hours each day and the city/PD refuses to assign anyone else
>tell FFL it'll be another week
>go in last week
>"Sorry sir, the detective that does the permits is out sick today."
>it was the one day I actually had time to go in
>Me: "Yeah sorry he was sick and I couldn't get the permits."
>FFL: "Alright, but come by soon, I don't have a ton of extra space to keep this thing here forever."
>go in yesterday
>"Sorry sir, the detective is on vacation this week. He'll be back on monday."

I wish I was joking. It feels like I'm living in a Sam Hyde comedy sketch.
>>
>>32252090
its $25 state fee plus a maximum of $10 transfer fee which the state allows FFLs to charge, PER gun. so for 1 rifle its $35 for DROS, then whatever FFLs charge, which usually is about $80-100. because most gun stores are faggots who want to price out the internet. this is why you need to find kitchen table FFLs. my local cuckfornia FFL charges $50 total for internet transfers. but there are not a lot of those types around

>>32252112
then again, lots of fudd shops make up their own rules. i have been to stores where they think they can charge $60 for state fees, and they itemize a bunch of bullshit like $5 xerox fee for paperwork. you have to call DOJ and complain about it, and eventually when DOJ gets enough complaints they contact the FFL and tell them to quit their faggotry

For most people, and I mean 90%+, no problems whatsoever

We blydo the credit card fee on transfers if it's like a super high end gun (think STI 2011 or some shit) and the 4% fee charged to us would cost us money or if the dude is being a douche

He is one of like, two people that I have had to explain the whole tax on transfers thing to

So for future reference, if you sell a gun online, send it yourself and not through an FFL, private sale = no tax, dealer to dealer anything = tax

No clue, but it's super fucking annoying to find a gun I want at Cabela's, reserve it so I can save a bit of money for a week or two, drive the half hour there after having saved money, get gun, then be told I can't fucking have it because I get a background check hold EVERY FUCKING TIME.
>>
>>32254722
Gander Mountain and Cabela's are pretty fucking busy most days. You're better off going early as fuck on a weekday to get what you want.
>>
Kitchen table FFL dealer here. I call my customers as soon as I have there goodies. I charge $10 and do the background check before they get to my house. I take their pre-filled 4473 and check it, fill out my stuff, check your ID, and take the cash. You're gone in 5 min.

If they don't want to be rushed then they can just come over and do all the paperwork. We'll talk guns, I'll let him finger his gun, my wife will usually have cookies or something.

Using your 2a shouldn't cost money. I charge $10 because the ATF requires I do it as a business.

You get what you pay for, imho. The shop I go to has never once engaged in any shady shit, and has always been 100% transparent and upfront about the status of my transfer.

The horror stories I hear always seem to be coming from some literal who fudd running an FFL out of his garage for $10 transfers.

>Question, the purchase permit for handguns is valid for 90 days, what happens if obtaining your handgun takes longer than the permit extends, and it expires before you obtain the gun?

You can ask for a 90 day extension for any permits you have if they're going to expire before the gun comes in. Some PDs are quicker than others at getting these back to you. Some might let them expire and go "oops!" meaning you'll have to redo the whole process while your gun rots in the dealer's safe. And of course the dems in the fucking legislature shoot down any mention of having a permanent handgun permit like the shotgun/rifle one, despite the fact that this system originates from the fucking 60s and it would make both the citizen's and police's lives a fuck load easier instead of having to go back and forth like this and create tons of paperwork. I love my home but I hate the fucking people that govern it.

>>

Ya, some things are nice, like cheap SVT-40 and Norinco M14`s for 400$, all AR`s are looked at the same regardless of barrel length. and buying guns online and having them shipped directly to your house is nice.

All AR-15 being restricted, along with any pistols (restricted means you can only shoot them at a govt approved range), 10 round limits on pistol mags, 5 round limit on semi-auto rifle mags. and RCMP randomly declaring certain guns are prohibited sucks though.

I know that feel, took me 2 tries to find a good FFL. Best thing is that they are really polite and it only costs $25 per transfer or $40 for 2 firearms on the same day.

They do make you wait a bit and are a somewhat unorganized but doesn't bother me since I've never had issues with them. I never would've expected polite guys at a pawn shop.
>>
Dealt with a kitchen table FFL for the first time on Tuesday. It was actually a really pleasant experience. I've only ever bought anything at a popular retailer before with multi-hour wait times, so it was a breath of fresh air to show up for an appointment and be done in ten minutes.
