The hind is already fast enough so i don't really get the point other than for civilian use, and there are better alternatives for that.

It's kinda funny how some people assume the hind is slow just because it looks fat and bulky.

The top speed for the mi-24 is pretty close to the rotor limit.

Helicopter speed isn't limited by the shape of the fuselage as much as it is with the rotors.

It's called a retreating blade stall. Where half the rotor blades stall and the other half produce considerable more lift because of high speeds. Causing the aircraft to roll upside-down.

I bet the prototype wasn't designed for more speed, but for better fuel efficiency. I'll do some reading when I get home.
