More than likely we shoot a bunch of cruise missiles at the three gorges dam. 20 million drowned chinese, loss of electricity to large portions of China, shit ton of farm land becomes flooded and useless. It is the last thing that would do the most damage, they can barely feed their population as is.
>>
>>32241439

>>
>>32241832
This. China has the national equivalent of a glass jaw, because if even a few strike planes get through and a few 2000lb Paveways hit the Three Gorges, they are done. China is the only country I can think of that could be devastated on a national scale by a single weapon without resorting to nuclear.
>>
>>32241439
>2016
>using suborbital conventional weapons

NORAD isn't going to be able to tell the difference between a nuclear first strike or a anti ship ballistic missile.

unless China has fueled their nuclear missiles ahead of time. they are going to face getting plastered with nuclear weapons before they can even launch a nuclear response.
>>

If just a dozen of those get through and hit the damn with LGBs, China is fucked.
>>
>>32243448
Strike on Three Gorges will:
1. Not destroy dam
2. Result in PRC nuclear response

Go ahead, America. End yourselves.
>>
>>32243524
PRC nuclear response will:
Result in larger American nuclear response
Go ahead China, End yourselves
>>
>>32243524
>1. Not destroy dam
Is it made out of mythic indestructible magic communist concrete? No, just normal concrete?
Then enough 2000lb bunker busters hitting the right spots will destroy it.

>2. Result in PRC nuclear response
Two problems with that. First of all, China is VERY proud of its No First Use policy.

Secondly, the Chinese nuclear arsenal is pathetic compared to the US arsenal. It is smaller, it is less survivable and the delivery vehicles are less accurate/have less range. Getting into a nuclear war with the US is the last thing China would ever want.

Considering that each warhead only makes a hole 12X42 feet, you would need to get at least 3 sequential hits in the exact same spot to even begin to think about getting enough penetration to reach fuel and magazines. Good luck with that, Hop Sing.

Your second problem is, being able to specifically target fuel storage and magazines.

Finally, the USN stopped using avgas when they stopped using piston engines in aircraft- late 40s/early 50s or thereabouts. The current jet fuel is JP-5, which is basically light Diesel fuel.

You'd need to hit a carrier at least a dozen times to have a hope of doing anything significant. Since the chances of hitting a moving carrier come out to just over 0.003%, you'd need to launch between 1200 and 1500 missiles to be assured of a hard kill. That many missiles cost about as much as a carrier. Good luck with that.

>>
>>32251999
How exactly are you targeting and tracking it to even get it close enough for terminal guidance in the first place? Spy sats can't follow targets and it's trivial to know where they will cover and evade on the open ocean.

How are you getting it through the Aegis screen?

How are you getting through the Combat Air Patrol umbrella?

A non-stealth aircraft is trivial to spot in the air, but ships can use the horizon to evade sea/ground-based radar.
>>
>>32251954
Working with the listed CEP of the DF-21 as a start. It only has a 20% chance of hitting a stationary target the size of a carrier.

Then you factor for the distance the carrier would travel between the time the launch is detected and impact. It's roughly 15 minutes flight time, the launch will be detected immediately and the carrier will get a Flash warning immediately. CSG changes course, lights off all counter measures, and increases speed. Any enemy observation platforms either eat a missile or get jammed into oblivion. This kills final targeting solutions that the ballistic missiles need to come within a nautical mile of the target.
>>
>>32252282
So you arrived at that number by pure fantasy. Cool, why don't you just stfu now?

Think about it in terms of relativity, yes a carrier is fucking big, but compared to the thing it floats on top of, it doesn't even register, add to that the fact its moving constantly, not just forwards backwards left or right, but also pitching and rolling on the waves, now imagine trying to hit that in a critical place several times, from a very long distance.
Not to mention its got its own defences, as well as a bunch of other ships near it that are there to protect it with even more defences....
I'm not saying a CBG is un-dead able, but they gone close.

I gave you the condensed version, fuckwit. The probability I came up with is a result of the distance the carrier moves between launch and impact (between 6 and 7 nm, assuming an average speed of 30 kts), and the listed CEP of the DF-21. Do the math, Corky.

Keep in mind, that hit probability ONLY takes into account the movement of the target and the accuracy of the missile.

Fuck off, everything uses datalinks now. That's not the problem with DF-21D. The problem is that the PLAF and PLAN have less than 200 fixed wing patrol aircraft between them. So few that they still use 70's vintage J-8s to try to fill the gaps. As I said before, the USN has more E-2s in service than the PLAN has fixed wing patrol planes, point fucking blank.

Well, the WU-14 is literally a fantasy until it deploys. So we can stop it with the Dragonriders of Pern if we want to.

>>
>>32270917
Can't hear you over the wind whistling through the holes in your killchain. You desperately need more proper fixed wing sensor aircraft. And you need tactical fighters that aren't based on land almost as badly. Your island chains are a crutch, and the USN will pick them apart at leisure if you fail to challenge them out at sea. Your Russian-derived carriers are a decent start, but they are utterly outclassed by their prospective enemies. If you want your new Great Wall to stand strong against everything we can bring at you, you need enough eyes in the sky to maintain patrols, and you need a carrier air wing that can threaten a CBG enough to give your sensors a real chance at living long enough to drop the hammer. You're never gonna be able to kill a decked out USN force when we know where all your shit lives.

You're making me laugh, my slant-eyed friend. Our carriers fly three or four squadrons of fighters, two squadrons of choppers, an electronic warfare squadron, a proper fixed-wing early warning squadron, and a resupply detatchment. Simultaneously.

Also, fucking what? We were building and operating carriers when German scientists still mostly worked for their own country. We were building and operating carriers while you fuckers were getting the shit raped out of you by Japan, so badly that our 1st Army Volunteer Group, the one you memorialize in Zhijiang, Kunming, Nanjing, and Guiling to this day, saved your hides with a force of just 90 practically obsolete P-40s.

You can't boast about Korea. Our Korean allies are an advanced, prosperous nation. Yours have devolved so far that even your government grows tired of their insanity. When the North inevitably folds, it will be democracy that grows larger, not the dregs of Chinese Communism.

Vietnam was a learning experience, I'll admit, but we pulled out due to weak politicians who refused to finish the job even though we had broken the NVA's back. Had our leaders not decided to abandon our allies, the south would not have fallen.

>If you had no Germans
Wishful thinking. We do, deal with it.

We destroyed Imperial Japan, not you, and not Russia. We had ravaged every Japanese island with our bombers for months before we gave them the first warnings that we were going to 'cheat' them out of their cities one by one. Sun Tzu would kick your ass for even suggesting that it's possible to cheat at war, by the way. And we were not about to let our sons die fighting Japanese civilian suicide squads in an invasion of the home islands. And we saw what they did to you and the rest of Asia, and we didn't give a shit if they burned. They deserved it, and nobody should know that better than you.

Russia could snuff you more easily than we can, by the way. What with the huge land border and all.
