I'm in MA, so when I turned 18 I got one for my birthday, since I saw getting guns here as impossible.
It isn't, but it's a pain.

Parker Enforcer's a fun little thing, pulling bolts out of targets chafed my hands, though. Shooting it was fun when I could, but few archery ranges have crossbow targets, so I have to drive a while every time I wanted to use it.
If SHTF I'll probably keep it on me because why not. I have memories with it.

I bought a Barnett wildcat on ebay for $60, put a quiver and aimpoint site on it, and just recently zeroed it in at 25 yards. It's a 150 pull, so I got one of those cocking assist thingys at Dicks, and it works pretty good, reducing the pull to right around 75 pounds, which is nice when you're shooting a lot. You can get both cheap crossbow bolts and pretty good all-weather targets at wally world.

Though, I only have traditional recurves and longbows; never really had an interest in compounds

I mostly use a Samick talon; I have 2 sets of limbs for it. I hunt small game with 30 pound limbs and big with 50 pound limbs.

I mostly just hunt bunnies on the farms around here; they like me using a bow over a firearm, and I don't mind it.
