"Hash", is French in origin IIRC.

That aside, the Kroger/Frys brand hash is at least as good as the Hormel, and quite a bit cheaper.

Add fresh onion/green onion and red pepper flakes. Another thing to try is stirring partially warmed hash into batter and tossing it into a waffle iron.

It's pretty crazy how some food cultures are able to accept the unbearable stench of their food.

Then again, I live in the deep south, where we've pretty much weaponized garlic and deep-fried foods.

Anyone know of a good brand of irradiated spices that will keep for a long time? I don't think I could eat bland SHTF food for very long.

Someone asked our Biology professor (PHD) if irradiated food was dangerous. She said no that's ridiculous, it doesn't work that way. Think of it this way, have you ever had an X-ray taken? Are you radioactive?

That's the simplified explanation. A science fag can elaborate if they want.

live oats. it's a grain that grows in most climates well. for meat you'd want to go with moose.

in real shtf we'd have to go back to using wood for fuel and moose and tree farming would complement each other well in most of northern europe.

SPAM. Always SPAM. If you don't have at least 30 cans of SPAM in your cupboard waiting for that day you might as well already be dead.

1000 calories packed into that tiny little tin. If you find yourself in a situation where you are forced to be on the move you can just open it up and eat it as it is.

And if you have time to cook properly, thinly sliced spam on a cast iron skillet will leave a nice layer of cooking grease on the skillet for other food items.

There's a reason why Hitler lost World War 2, and that reason is SPAM.

You can plan to hunker down all you want, but you might not have that choice. Being able to easily carry several days worth of food in the form of SPAM gives you the option to move a lot further than people who have no SPAM>

The No SPAMers will literally be stuck in the city fighting it out over the last can of soup at Walmart and you'll be up in the woods building a comfy hidey hole where nobody will bother you.

store the basics in bulk and cook actual meals?

buy some cook books and find out what you like, what spices compliment each other, then learn how to make a dozen meals inside and out, and store the things required to make that stuff. learn how to can, how to hunt, and start a small garden. Buy a book with pictures and descriptions of local wild edibles for when you go camping or hiking.

Those skills will follow you wherever you go but you cant take a basement worth of MREs with you if you have to bug out

some anon already posted a list of basics,

flour
cornstarch
cornmeal
yeast
sugar
salt
honey
various oils, vegetable, canola, olive
hot sauce

The whole point of packing canned goods as I explained earlier is that it allows you to use your time more effectively early on in the collapse when time is most important.

Especially in the first few days when stopping to scavenge or hunt puts you at extreme risk of encountering other people who may not have the best of intentions.

If you don't need to stop and hunt or stop and scavenge or stop to rehydrate food you are able to keep moving and scout out a much more advantageous position.

Like 90% of the population is expected not to survive the collapse anyway, due to a crippling lack of any kind of skill or worldly knowledge. So best to use your first month hiding from desperate people while they all die off, and then you can worry about preparing the finest freshly killed venison or freshly caught fish, etc.

If you put a pot with residual moisture in a 1400* fire, it goes boom.

the less water you use, the faster you can work but ofc it's more difficult. once molded, you put it next to the fire to dry. once it's "dry", you start firing it. you don't drop the cold pieces into a raging fire. duh.

Water boils MUCH faster using hot rocks.

If you have a fire going and know you'll need to boil some waterr, hot rocks are better.

Plus the clay he's using isn't exactly highly refined.

If anything id say the stuff id miss for shtf is Pizza and Mountain Dew.

But I figured out what would be my prep plan for about 6 weeks of WROL:

* Gatorade or mix-aide type stuff with some salt to condition the flavor.

* Power Bars or other kinds of energy bars. If shtf lasts for less than 2 months just 3 of these per day will make sure you are still getting enough nutrients not to go loopy.

> mfw power bars or clif bars are over 2 oz each and only cost about $1... literally better than a snickers for the same price.
> whens the last time you lived on less than $7 per day for food

* Indian Food prepared meals, Kohinoor and such. They cost about $2 each and combined with some instant rice you have most of a day's worth of food. They last a long time.

* Instant Rice or even Parboiled Rice cooks alot faster than the cheaper shit. Spend a little bit more and you cut the cook time and fuel you have to use by 5 fold. Get the cheapest stuff from discount grocers, its the same as uncle ben's just in a different box.

* If you havent burned yourself out on Ramen in your life then shtf is the time to do so. Use lots of soy sauce.

* Have Great Value Steak Sauce handy, its $1 per bottle and almost as good as A1 (more vinegar taste is stronger flavor than the other off brands).

Irradiating food doesn't leave anything radioactive in the food or make the food itself radioactive at all.

Radiation is used to kill bacteria and shit in the food that causes it to rot. Ionizing radiation is just subatomic particles, either an electron for beta (heh) radiation, two protons and two neutrons (a Helium ion) for alpha, or a photon for gamma. The reason it's dangerous is because those particles have a lot of energy when they're radiated. The radiation passes through the food and kills the bacteria the same way it /would/ kill you if it was passing through you, but once it passes through the food it just gets absorbed by the walls of the irradiation chamber, nothing is left behind in the food.

The guy (one of many) Putin kill with radiation died because they slipped the radioactive material (Polonium in that case) into his tea, so he drank it and it stayed inside his body, constantly irradiating him over time until he died.

There are hundreds of products that call themselves suet these days, ranging from blocks of bird feed (various seeds, predominantly sunflower seeds, stuck together with molasses) to a brand of organic quinoa.

The only places I've found legit kidney-fat suet have been hispanic markets where they're sold under the name tripe or sweetbreads (beware sweetbreads as these can contain or be wholly different organs).

Used to be issued to British Army Redcoats.

Non-perishable emergency food ration they carried everywhere. Wouldn't go bad, represented several thousand calories in a belt pouch you could nibble on, or shave pieces off.

Complete food if made from grass-fed (not grain fed) animal fat/meat. All the vitamins, minerals, nutrients and carbs the body needs. You could live on it the rest of your life and be perfectly healthy.

Hard as balls to find these days but you can make it easily enough if you have the time.

In all seriousness, cast iron is great for general cooking, the high heat capacity makes it so that there are no hot spots on the pan, and as long as you remember to burn some oil onto it to season occasionally, it works just as well as a non stick pan for most things, plus it only gets better with age.

Cast iron is shit for even heating. Copper is easily king for that.

Heat capacity has nothing to do with even heating, that is conductivity. But its capacity doe mean cast iron takes longer to heat up and holds its heat longer, so it is great for slow cooking.

I just got rid of most of my canned goods for food storage, when you start getting about a years worth just get everything dehydrated for weight. For beans get dried beans and then just get those packets of chili or barbecue seasoning when they are on sale. The few things i still have in a can is Corned Beef Hash for the High fat, Protien, Carbs and Tuna Fish.
>>

Oh, so you have no fucking clue what he's even talking about then?
1. I'm sorry you're so much of a pussy you can't imagine fighting a gurella attack on a group of people. Spoiler: Rice farmers in pajamas could do it.
2. That's exactally how this show goes, there's like maybe 5 guys with guns out of "hundreds" of people, which by the way, the size of the convoy they bring in couldn't support more than maybe 50 men,TOPS! And then you have some edgy faggot walking around spewing corny shit . There is literally a part where the balck chick could've done this exact thing if learning how to hit the broad side of a barn with a fucking scoped rifle wasn't so haaaarrrd. Instead she walks into the compound and gets her gun confiscated, along with every other gun they had, but this show's gotta take some bullshit "everybody's a pussy like me" narrative I think that show just gets under his skin like it does mine

I had some can of soup buried for like 4 years, they don't store very well the turn into a geletin. While they are still edible and melt when heated it looks absolutly desgusting like cat food. Plus like i said before canned food has water which makes it very heavy compared to dehydrated. where I live If you have a backpackers water filter (Iodine tablets for backup) you can live forever, no need to store tons of water. I also get a plastic tub and fill it with everything needed to survive and duct tape it shut, no sneaking trail mix & jerky that way. Date it and after 5 years open it, eat it and refill.

This is how you do it.

>wear their flesh a la buffalo bill
>pretend to be zombies
>herd hordes into faggot normie settlements
>loot the aftermath
>repeat

It's the only solution for autists.
>>
>>32258173
You can go town to town recruiting all the spergs.

They're the only ones that are already used to smelling like death and not showering or cleaning themselves.

Plus, the settlements might pay you to take them away, meanwhile, you can just come back in your zombie outfits and lead a horde there.

It's perfect. They can hide in plain sight.

Not to mention it's a lot more believable than a 1 man neckband guerilla army.
