I want to get a 9mm pistol. What should I get? Considering pic related or CZ 75 SP-01

Have you considered the CZ P10 C?

Everyone I've seen had nothing but rave reviews so far.

Also what's your budget, that really determines a lot.
>>
>>32232501

Go to a gun store and handle every gun you are thinking about. A lot of people will tell you "X" gun is so great but a lot of times the best gun is the one that feels best in your hands and has controls you are comfortable with.

That being said I dislike the CZ75. I find the M92FS or Glock 19 better.
>>
you can get M9's kinda cheap now. from what i hear the marines r readopting the 1911 so there r a bunch of surplus M9's on the market now
>>
>>32232530
>the marines are readopting the 1911

Really? Why?
>>
>>32232530
There are no DOD surplus M9s on the market. With the exception of rare General models issued to brigadier generals.
>>
>>32232501
You won't be disappointed if you get a 92, they are smooth as fuck. Might want to try at least holding one first because they are pigfat though.

I love my beretta m9a3
>>
>>32232544

Probably because of the nearly guaranteed OHK, Subsonic ammo, and the fact they feel like sex in your hand.
>>
>>32232559
How do you like the pocket .22
>>
>>32232566
>OHK
Why is that? It fires the same ammunition as the beretta/glock? Why would there be a difference?
>>
>>32232530
First of all, none of this is correct.
Secondly, you do NOT want surplus M9 pistols, they are all in abysmal condition, they are being replaced for good reason, these are not guns you want.
>>
>>32232514
Not op but I'd wait til the polymer czs get some walking around time before considering it. I have a 2075 rami and love it. Learned to shoot on a 92 which is another fantastic pistol. It really comes down to size and capacity.

>>
>>32232560
If it weren't for the safety on the slide, it would be a 10/10. With safety/decocker in current location it's a 6/10.
>>
>>32232580
Not my picture just used it because it was the first image I found with a 92 in it.

I do have a 92S and have shot a Tomcat in .32 my dad owns though.
Can't comment on carrying it day to day but it shoots decent for a pocket pistol. The weight is substantial so it isn't as awful to shoot as a LCP for example but not so heavy that you would mind carrying it around.

It's decent enough as a pocket pistol that I plan buying it from him at some point.

.45ACP does not have significantly better performance than 9mm NATO.
In fact I'll argue that 9mm NATO is much better of a performer.
Also the Beretta feels good if you're not a manlet.

Got this for $300 tax included, 15+1 2 mags and an 80s steel mag loader original box and papers too, has very little recoil, it's a bit large but if you were suggesting a Beretta it shouldn't be that big a deal for you.
>>
>>32232501
try a bunch at the range and determine if you want SAO, DA/SA, or Striker first. Given your options (Beretta and CZ), you're looking at DA/SA.

In that segment I recommend the Sig P226, Jericho 941, CZ-75 or H&K USP. I don't particularly care for the 92, since I've seen iffy performance with them and painfully thin finishes. Of the four I listed I think the Jericho is the most accurate and the 226 is the most fun. I have most of them.

>>32232522
this nerd is correct.
>>
>>32232544
No. They bought a handful of railed 1911s and almost immediately stopped using them. They are rack queens now.
>>
>>32232678
The P80 and P90 series Ruger pistols are quite nice economy pistols.
>>
I love my SP01, but it's all dependent on what you like. Handle and if possible, shoot the guns you are thinking about buying.
>>
>>32232501

M9A3 would've been perfect if it didn't only come in roleplay-tan
>>
>>32232514

That's pretty much the same for every new gun until it one person has some bad luck or find a way to purposely fuck it up and then the majority of the gun reviewers and gun community drop it like a hot potato

How? It's just an extension of the thumb to get it. May be a little less ergonomic than most, but not 6/10 worthy on that alone

A Beretta 92S can be really nice if you get one in good condition, and they're easily around $270. The only "bad" thing about them is the heel mag release.

Berettas are gay. Get a Sig or a Glock.
>>
>>32232501
Those are both excellent choices. In the same price bracket, you might want to look at what HK has to offer in their USP and P30. The Sig P226 is nice, but I'd put Sigs in #4 position after HK > Beretta > CZ > Sig. The Browning Hi Power is also really nice, but there's such a huge price gap between new and used (due to all the police surplus) that if you don't like it, it may be difficult to sell.

In a lesser bracket of guns, you have things like the Walther PPQ, Glocks, and all of the other Glock knock-offs.

92s that aren't beat to shit from years of government service are pretty great actually. The safety/decocker isn't an issue for real-world use because the gun is DA/SA. Really the only practical negatives are

Bump for also looking for a full size duty 9mm

Hammer fired is a requirement.
Large capacity is a requirement.
Rails are a requirement.
Factory suppressor ready with threaded barrel and raised night sights is a plus.
Available threaded barrels and raised night sights are requirements.

Budget is $800 for the entire pistol with threaded barrel and raised sights.

shit, both are great, and even though people talk mad shit about them, the XD is a good handgun. my cousin has one, and he loves it. dude grew up a 1911 man, was nothing but steel frame hammer fired guns his whole life. turns 40, tried the XD, and he looked like the man that discovered how to get pussy. 45 minutes later bought a XD, 3 days later got it from the gunshop.

he still loves his 1911's and he has posted a few of his custom carry pieces in 1911 threads here.

he doesnt like the ergos on the glocks, but is thinking of getting an M&P during the oh shit christmas bills season, before tax season.

a sig 226 is good but you wont get all those geegaws for less than a grand

if youre looking for a carry piece in 9mm, get a single stack mid size, of which there are many.
dong get rails, extended and threaded barrels or any of that other frippery. that just slows your draw. it may look tacticool, but it doesnt make your gun better, just slower

learn to shoot and do smooth efficient reloads and you wont need high capacity mags.
the ruger px4 is decent and wont break the bank.

I personally like to have a hefty weight to my guns (from solid wood or steel).

Still, a Hi-point WILL function perfectly fine, so it's better to own a Hi-point than own nothing.

they're demonstrating why auctions exist.

Because people are stupid and will overbid on items to prove a point and to spite someone else out of getting what they want. And the auction seller makes a profit.

if people only ever paid wholesale/distributor prices and refused to buy anything on a margin, middlemen/sales people/auctions wouldn't exist.

But people are dumb.
Like me for example. I just bought a BA 16" barrel because it was on sale. I don't need a barrel. My AR works fine with the barrel it has. But the deal was too good, and my ego got the better of me, and now I have to learn how to install an AR barrel.

In my opinion its a non issue. Then again i don't carry a beretta and don't know if it really impedes draw like people say(I dont see how it would). As far as being hard to manipulate? Ive never had a problem with it and I've been shooting my dad's fs for 11 years. At the same time i carry two frame mount non decocker pistols as a preference. So idk if my opinion matters.

For the record, i also am looking for a full size 9mm pistol and am between the same two pistols and the s&w model 59 which also has a slide mounted safety/decocker, and im leaning towards the smith based on price.

I take it you've never carried a gun before. The CZ 75 Compact is heavy as fuck. There are lots of full size guns that are significantly lighter than this thing. If you just like how compacts handle at the range, then that's a great pistol to buy. If you want a daily carry, though, do yourself a favor and pick up a P-01 or P-07 instead. There's a big difference in weight and you will notice it when carrying it.

It's too late at night for me to look up the numbers, but that can't be right. I would expect more like a 10 ounce weight difference or more. Dear Berretafags

How do you justify the safety also being a decocker(either safety stays off or your first round must be heavy trigger pull)?

For this reason alone I prefer the H&K USP9 in a landslide. The reduced recoil spriing tech also allows you to make it a .45 if you want OHK power if you prefer that over a no-recoil 9mm.
>>
>>32242975

Safety position doesn't bother me at all. I actually really like it. That said M9A3 has the safety levers angled up if you're one of those fags who think they'll accidentally engage the safety when racking the slide.

I've been shooting the 92FS for 10 years and have never done that. Also, even if your mongoloid hands somewhow did that, why would you ever carry the gun in a situation where you need it with an empty chamber?

All 92/M9 series guns have a SA/DA trigger that can be carried safety off, as well.

It's an M9 that's been finely tuned. If you wanted to turn a regular M9 or an M9A1 into a M9A3 you'd spend a bunch.

Even though it's smallish, it's a hefty girl. To me, it's waaay less comfortable than a full size. For a nightstand/range gun I'd get a full size. For carry, CZs lighter polymer framed options would definitely be better.
But really, you can get pretty nice Pre-B's for around $350. I just picked up one the other week at the trigger is to die for. You should check those out if you're thirsty for CZs.

I have the Glock 19 right now as my concealed carry pistol. I love it to bits but the lack of a safety really does bother me more then I thought. To the point I don't carry with one in the pipe.

Was thinking about the Beretta Px4 Storm compact or subcompact. If I could shave off a bit of gun and only lose 2 rounds but have a manual safety and a healthy DA trigger pull I'd feel much more comfortable concealing around my family and friends.

Any one who owns them got some input between the compact and subcompact?

My holster aims the barrel of the weapon directly across from the person I am sitting from. If it were to go off for some kind of 1/100000 reason and hurt someone I could never forgive myself. What is wrong with wanting an extra safety mechanism on a weapon that can end somebodies life? In all likelihood I will carry it for 50 years and never have to actually draw. Accidental discharge is much more important then having to thumb a lever during a draw.

Why would it go off in your holster? Get a grasp of mechanics/engineering/physics and chill the fuck out.
>>
>>32248802
>Why would it go off in your holster?
Honestly? There is no good reason it ever would. Still why risk it for a 1/170th of a second faster trigger pull? Pull drawing from a holster in a stressful and dangerous situation doesn't always go perfectly. It is entirely possible to accidentally pull the cocked trigger of a glock if you fumble the draw.

This is a concealed carry piece. Not a duty pistol that will be in a rigid retention holster outside the waistband and easily manipulated.

If you're worried about your draw it's because you haven't practiced it sufficiently. Again, the problem is you and your lack of familiarity and training with your weapon.

I have 3 nephews and sit across from people quite often throughout my day. I don't want to carry a weapon that will fire without some kind of additional action besides pulling the trigger.

Nigger what is so hard to get about this? Buying the Glock was a mistake. I am asking if anyone has some feedback on the Px4 compact and subcompact. I don't need a lesson on why I should just carry hot when my priorities are more about safety then dead killy perfection.

The 9mm is my favorite round.
It is a tapered round. Shaped like a cone, it is nearly impossible to get a failure to eject in all guns except the SIG SAUER line of pistols.
The magazine of the mp5 is curved making it a banana clip. It is curved because the 9mm is cone shaped. If the 9mm weren't cone shaped, the mp5 would not have a banana clip. This is why the 9mm is so awesome.
The FBI recently switched back to 9mm because it is superior to the .40cal. The FBI used 10mm but it was too powerful so they switched to .40cal and now they are switching again to 9mm.
9mm parabellum means to prepare for war.
>Si vis pacem, para bellum
How cool is that?! I don't see any cool latin phrases after .45acp.

If I were going to get a 9mm Luger Parabellum designed in 1902 by a German accountant named George, then I'd want a gun designed by a German accountant named George. Unfortunately his descendants left the company and married into the American Busch beer family. The closest you're going to get is an HK. So that's what I'd do, is spend $1,000 to get a plastic gun made in Ulm by German Accountants that while technically aren't any better than Glocks, will at least be most true to the over 100 year old 9x19mm.

I've got the full-size Px4 and really like it. I've never shot the compact or subcompact though. I'm thinking about getting the subcompact for carry myself. I'll carry the full size in cold weather like this, my only complaint is the batwing safety can really dig into your side sometimes if you don't have a shirt between you and the gun.

The compact has the rotating barrel, the subcompact uses a modified Browning lock up.
>>
>>32249826
Does the rotating barrel really dampen recoil as much as it suggests or is it just a neat beretta feature?
>>
>>32249847
Don't know, never shot one, but if the rotating barrel is important to you, then get the compact.

A full size Px4 is on my short list of future gun purchases.

Sorry for the late reply. This CZ is my duty weapon. The trigger pull is great and it's an overall very comfortable weapon. I've shot too many to name, but some recently have been Glock17,19,and a 43 and those all feel the same to me. I definitely am more comfortable with the cz

Not too bad. The thing about these surplus pistols is that while the exterior might be a little rough, the bore is usually flawless.

The buy it now for this one is $350, it looks a little cleaner.
>>
>>32249041
How much do you want a pistol with a manual safety as opposed to just a pistol that's a lot safer than the Glock is?

Because if you get a PX4 Compact Type-G, the gun is DA/SA with the safety/decocker converted to a decock-only. The long double action first shot is a surer bet against any of the kinds of accidents that you described than a manual safety. Additionally, the decock-only lever prevents you from accidentally putting the gun on safe when you rack the slide or from accidentally leaving the gun on safe when you go to decock it.
>>
>>32248986
You could watch local sales as well, ie Armslist. Might find a good deal on something newer and cosmetically cleaner for not much more money. You can always disable the firing pin block on a B model.
>>
>>32251927
Armslist in my state is garbage
It's full of overpriced shit and people that require you to have a ccw to buy from them. Not to mention that almost all the sellers are over two hours away.
I guess I'll do another round of the local stores and pawnshops then buy online if I can't find anything.
>>
>>32251902
Oh godammit. The Beretta Storm's don't lock the slide when in safety or at lease disengage if it is racked? Why put in a feature that can easily mislead the user as to the fire readiness of the weapon?

Everyone recommending any sort of M9 variant is a fucking tard that's never been in a gun fight. It's heavy, has a long trigger pull for the first shot, and has limited ammo capacity compared to non shit pistols. If you want to carry a gun for the aesthetics get a Hi Power or a 1911. If you want a tool for self-defense get a Glock.

The difference is that with HK, Beretta and CZ, you can be confident that your purchase won't be defective from the factory. With Sig, there are some clouds, but the build quality makes up for it. With the tupperware guns, you do occasionally run into problems with build quality, consistency of quality control, design flaws and so forth. That said, the PPQ is a luxury pistol, for a tupperware gun.
