G19 is the Cheerios of guns. Bland, basic, simple, but it's solid and a good gun to learn on. You don't buy a 4 year old an Olympic racing bike to learn how to ride on.

Sell and upgrade once he knows what he wants. Plus there's a million and a half mods for it to play with.

Don't get the 17, anon. 15 round mag cap means you'll have to buy the gimped California 10rd magazines. The G19 comes standard with 15rd ones.

That said look for a hammer fired gun, it takes more effort to learn DA/SA but I feel it's more satisfying.

From what I understand it's basically impossible to get one in NJ. This state is gay as fuck
