Ya domestic only, but a good portion of the people we train are prepping to go overseas so they have to act like my team is the foreign nation's CI. Things can get interesting and we even are given authorization to "kidnap" the student sometimes which definitely gets some strange looks.

And I mean semi average looking i guess. I just blend well and dont really stick out amongst the general population. I'm 5'9" slightly larger build, not too attractive, not too ugly.
Some of the other guys/gals I work with definitely stick out more than I do so we have to more to keep them from being recognized especially if we work with a student/class on more than one occasion.

You've gotta have some sort of experience first and foremost. What experience makes you qualified really varies from contractor to contractor and client to client.

Then you gotta get your foot in the door with a small company/subcontractor. Its really key that you brush up on your stuff (ie basic vehicle surveillance and multimode, how to follow a target, spot CI, radio etiquette, how teams work depending on size, etc) and are on point for your first exercise or else you probably wont be asked back.

My first one I did I was paid $25/hr (not bad to pretty much play spooks and gooks all day) and was made pretty early on by our student (not necessarily my fault, had to be the eye for a good 20 minutes after he dipped on the eye and relay so me and my driver hauled ass and caught up to him) but one of his "stops" was at one of the gun shops I go to and know the owner. I did the intrusion and the confused look on the students face was priceless when I started talking to the owner about a build we were talking about last time I was in the shop.

How did you find these "small company/subcontractors"? Craigslist?

Very first one was either indeed or monster, then it kinda snowballed from there by networking and picking up all the opportunities I could.
