Both countries are certainly interested in stability and economic growth the problem is China wants to dominate all Southeastern trade and transition into a service and consumer driven economy. That's why its building up its regional navy it wants to protect and secure its trade routes.

India wants mostly the same things but can't really accomplish it as fast as the Chinks can because of all the bureaucratic, democratic municipal/federal, cultural and religious quagmire that prevents any real economic reforms from getting through the Indian parliament. The only thing India has over the Chinks is their slicker IT, BPO and software service industry.

The Chinks are most likely going to use their economic leverage and money to isolate India from foreign investments, trade and prevent India from diversifying their economy

More than likely not going to happen. India is such a gigantic clusterfuck of ungodly proportions that it may never fully be fixed. There's been moments where things have been sort of okay, but that's it.
While the Aleppo comparison is somewhat relevant, India and China aren't currently at war and frankly I doubt they'll ever get to that point considering that India will likely have its hands full with Pakistan for the near future.
