Striker fired hand guns alllow for a lower bore axis by having the grip at the back come really close to the slide. Glocks and the Arsenal Strike one do this well. Most stoker fired hand gun designs don't fully utilize this benefit though.

Personally I prefer hammer fired.

Most will have that weird "fake" double-action trigger (like on a Glock) that is primed but not fully cocked by cycling. This doesn't allow for restriking a round, but offers a DA's safety while having a consistent trigger pull.
Usually lacks a manual safety
Lets you keep most of your moving parts, including the mainspring, inside the slide itself. If you want a polymer frame, this makes designing the pistol much easier, because you're not actually using the frame for much more than containing the trigger.

striker fired generally has a shorter lock time (the amount of time between the sear disengaging and the firing pin impacting the primer) too, which is good for accuracy.

Though that can be compensated for by pulling our hammer out, drilling the hammer pinhole out, and fitting high-speed bearings into the hammer. That way instead of the hammer rotating around the hammer pin the bearings are, and they'll produce much less friction, leading to shorter lock time.

This is mostly done on Revolvers people are building as race guns, but a number of guns can benefit from this.

Also a potential way to smooth up a lever gun big time. (assuming you've already got the surfaces where the lever engages the bolt and the carrier at a mirror polish.
