is this a real gun or some frankengun? doesn't look very familiar
not real

Hmm, there might be something in the catalog that would answer your question.
>>32205821
Frankengun but obviously very closely based on the AR-15.
Close enough, in fact, that I bet you could make this thing IRL and still use a standard AR barrel, gas system, bolt, buffer, etc. The only major differences are cosmetics and the fact that it's a side-charger instead of the usual AR T-handle. (And side-charging AR uppers already exist.)

Really have to ask, OP?
Not a real gun.
No forward assist.
>>32205939
Forward assists are optional.
>>32205939
early vietnam era m16a1s had no forward assist.
Wonder what its chambered in.
Looks like an ARAK-21 with a FSB
>>32205939
Plenty of AR's have no assist. The mp sport 1 didn't.
>>32205821
It looks like a legally safe AR-15 video game rendering.

check IMFDB never know when shit gets put on here.

Seems like a mix of a lot of different AR15s and 308s.
Is Death Stranding on FOX engine?

>is Kojima's brand new game made after he got fired from Konami using a proprietary Konami engine.
Try to think this one through, Sherlock.

It has no T-handle, so it's probably a side charger, and in theory it could be a recip handle and so wouldn't need a FA.
Actually, the whole receiver looks a lot like one of these REPRs, though those are non-recip and have a FA.

Handguard loooks like a Midwest Industries G3
Kojimmy stopped using real guns with MGSV. I wouldn't expect real guns in Death Stranding.
>>32205821
Looks like a type 89.

This basically covers it.
It's like a fictionalized AR in an otherworldly place. If some supposed leaks and fan theories are true, it's set sort of future anyways. Knowing Kojima, he's doing it to make things just "off" if real close to realistic to help the atmosphere.
Anyways, the going consensus is it's an M110/M4 hybrid thing, probably side-charging. If you look, it has the same controls and even takedown pin situation (Complete with third hole), but they're just a little too large, or the mag release is just a little different, etc.
It's a very interesting distinction. This is way, way, way closer to real than the stuff in MGSV, but it definitely has some kind of fictionalized furniture, it stares the real thing in the face, and it does it on purpose.

He's 90% there. I think this is for artistic reasons. If he ever does another military-styled modern-day, not-crazy setting, I bet we'll be back to MGS4-tier guns.
