How'd I do, /k/? Second time shooting pistols ever.
Also general "what you shot up" thread.
>>32199909
Bump.
Does nobody on /k/ shoot?
>>32199943
>3 minutes after making thread
>WHAT THE FUCK BUNCHA NOGUNS ON THIS BOARD I SWEAR
Take your retardation somewhere else, faggot.
>>32200026
>doesn't reply with targets
>only anime
So /k/ really is noguns
>>32199909
Nice and centered op, what distance?
Here's where I'm at standing 7yrds.
>>32200070
It was about 10-13 yards.
I have another target at 25 and it's not as pretty
>>32200070
Forgot to post about yours.
That's pretty nice shooting for 7 yards, and for that target size as well.
>>32199909
Do you guys have any good tips for me? I follow most of the major ones to a T but for whatever reason I'm a terrible fucking shot. I get on target but getting bullseye even at 7 yards is a 1/100 thing
>>32200043
>>32200097
OP here.
How do you grip? What's your stance and what do you use to shoot, usually?
I used the pic related to correct a lot of my first few wide ass shots on my first go at the range.
>>32199909
Whats your rhythm?
SAO?
DA then SA for the Rest
or
DA, two SA, decock, DA, two SA, repeat...?
when I shot SIG I always did the last one... made me a much better shooter.
>>32200124
Congrats, me too.
Now contribute or fuck off.
>>32200141
Standard DA/SA follow through for the rest. That last one sounds interesting.
Have you seen a marked improvement in groupings using that method? It sounds like you're resetting your grip to accommodate for the rest of the SA shots after the first DA
>>32200124
Not the guy you're replying to, but couldn't you have at least shown off a more impressive setup than a Glock 19 in a Serpa holster to establish your gun cred?
>>32200169
Why would I need gun cred to post on an anonymous image board?
100 yd, surplus ammo. First group after sight in
Can anyone tell me what this gun is worth?A Friend of my aunt is selling it for 380 but I doubt it's worth that much.
Nearest free range is about 70 miles away from me. I don't wanna shoot on my buddies land because it's deer season. I haven't gotten to fucking shoot since November 8th, shit sucks.
I also just picked up a gp100 and a scope for my 10/22, never shot a 357 or scoped gun so I'm looking forward to shooting.
Is anyone here better at shooting reactive targets than paper? If I set up a paper target, my shots go all over the fucking place. But if I shoot at metal targets, bottles, clay pigeons, or empty shotgun shells, its like I'm a 10x better shot.
>>32200193
Well that's to be expected at 100 yards
>>32200207
They go double for that, if that's the Ruget Nighthawk. Unless it's broke, buy that shit.
>>32200218
You probably are more excited to see and hear shit pop and explode, so you psychologically shoot better.
Splatter targets might be more to your liking than straight paper, so you get a very visible reaction from your target.
>>32200241
Damn, I better get it then, her friend wants money for Christmas
>>32200207
if you like .22LR that's a good-ish used price.
>>32200252
I didn't think about that. That's probably it.
I know I've got a recoil anticipation/twitch issue, but I'm working on that. I can dry fire all day, those sights don't move a millimeter, but the second I know there is a live round in the chamber, it's flinch fucking city.
>>32200297
That fades with practice, or so I've heard. I've managed to figure out how to ignore my flinch and just shoot the pistol with both eyes open, which is optimal. Some just take to stuff faster, so I promise that that flinch will fade with time.
Be the ball.
New gun owner here. What are some useful tutorials on things like shooting stance, sight picture, trigger control etc? I would like to make sure I learn proper techniques and not fuddlore.
>>32200126
I tend to use the modified weaver but have tried the traditional straight footing shoulder width stance; I lean forward a bit, I believe my hands are in the right spot. My problem is that I do a lot of stuff in the heeling (anticipating recoil area) but I've spent a lot of time shooting and don't understand why it would still be an issue for me. Any tips? I've also noticed that when I slow down a lot I do alright but I tend to get a bit impatient. I took my Bodyguard out today and my first shot ever through it at about 7 yards was bullseye and then everything beyond it was upper right
>>32200207
That's an original ruger single six with the .22 mag cylinder... if it's all original it's a serious collectors item
>>32200441
Classes with an actual instructor would be the best.
Hell you don't even need classes, just go to the shooting range, say you are new and ask for tips.
Other than that, videos of actual instructors.
>>32200441
What >>32201623 said. I took NRA Basic Pistol, and I'm still nubtastic, but, while the instructors and the study materials felt slightly fuddy, they were still serious-but-easygoing. They walked the students through all the parts of proper stance and sighting. It was kind of awkward qualifying at an unusual distance (25 yards for pistols, really? but it was what the range had open so lol) but they were competent teachers, they knew their shit, and so I qualified with the best score the NRA still cares about, even though it was my first time with a handgun. Not that it is super hard ("best score" being "minimum marksmanship to teach this class") but I figure I wouldn't have done that well if they had taught me wrong as a joke.
>>32200713
Maybe your grip is a little too tight on your main hand. Try loosening it up and putting more effort into the trigger pull.
>>32200190
It's 4chan..do you expect any thing less than retardation?
>>32200190
Because you're a huge faggot.
>>32202006
(You)
>>32200154
I'm sorry, let me clarify.. my practice regime for DA/SA is as follows.
Start at 5-7 yards.
>Draw
>Fire 1 shot DA
>Fire 2 shots SA
>Reholster
repeat until it feels too easy (nebulous, but I dont own a timer) the back up a couple yards... continue until your groups become unacceptable, then step forward to the last place you were shooting well at.
Continue until you run out of ammunition or get bored...
Yes, it made me a much better shooter in practical terms...
mastering the DA shot and transition is the hardest thing for a DA/SA in terms of slow-fire SA groups I think its helped as well...
>>32199909
>can hit targets fairly well with a pistol
>accuracy is similar to a drunkard's when using a Yugo Mauser at 50 yards
I'm pretty sure the gun itself is fine, so how do I learn to not fuck up my accuracy with this thing? The sights are tiny as fuck, at least in my opinion.
>>32203344
Start with a bench, then move to standing.
Accuracy is also about comfort with your weapon.
