Can't really go wrong with it if you get a good deal. I've got about 5k round through mine with no issues die to the gun (shit ammo I'd another story). But honestly just about anything from palmetto state, smith & wesson, or hell even DPMS will get you started. I'd only upgrade one you know the platform well enough, and by then you can build one to suit your style.

I bought a colt earlier this year and already shoved a couple thousand rounds through it already, no issues. The problem with the m16 and the colt is that it is used the military as a service rifle, which wears it down over time. So, a lot of people who served in the military think it's absolute shit, but it's not. Considering the state of the rifle is important too since a really used rifle is going to be shit.
